Subcategory: Education - Universities and Colleges; Dr. Jason graduated cum laude from the Howard University College of Medicine in 1928 and received a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1932; he was the first African American to earn a Ph.D. in Pathology. Dr. Jason was a professor and head of the Department of Pathology at Howard before becoming dean in 1955 (the first alumnus to hold this position).
