    Barrow Creek is Australia's most central pub, just 43 miles north of Mount Stuart. Barrow Creek Telegraph Station was built in 1872.     Howard Houston Stuart, a Tarrant County pioneer, is celebrating his seventy-fifth birthday. Mr. Stuart arrived in Fort Worth, Texas on New Years Eve 1869 by an ox cart with his parents and turned down a ride on the first train into Fort Worth. His family came from Staunton, Virginia. His mother was a cousin of President Woodrow Wilson and father was a cousin of General (Gen.) J. E. B. Stuart, of Civil War fame. He is shown standing against a wall, dressed in a three piece suit and wearing eyeglasses. Mr. Stuart is one of the city\u27s oldest, active salesman. He will observe the birthday by making the rounds of the same flour customers he has served for 31 years. Mrs. Stuart and their daughter, Mrs. Bert Phillips will hold open house Sunday for the veteran salesman.     The papers of home economist and Howard professor, Flemmie P. Kittrell (1904-1980) span the period of 1924-1980 and measure approximately 10 linear feet. Dr. Kittrell was the head of the Home Economics department at Howard University from 1944-1971 and at Hampton Institute prior to that. Her collection of personal papers, correspondence, writings, photographs, and printed material provides valuable insight into her life and the field of home economics in the United States and abroad. Correspondents from Hampton include Mary R. Kennedy and Arthur Howe; at Howard, Mordecai Johnson, J. St. Clair Price and Frank M. Snowden. Other notable corrsepondents included in the collection are Mary McLeod Bethune, Charlotte Hawkins Brown, William Stuart Nelson, and Frederick D. Patterson. Additional sources reflecting Dr. Kittrell\u27s accomplishments at Howard can be found in her writings which include fragments of her Ph.D. thesis and a proposal for developing a Ph.D. program in Nutrition
