P(論文)It seems Jiao Hong Ji occupied an important place in the history of Chinese novels. It may be the best classical novel in the Yuan Dynasty, and developed short stories in the Tang Dynasty. Also,it exerted a considerable influence upon literature in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties. In this article, first,I am going to identify the author and writing time of Jiao Hong Ji,and then to study the reason why there appeared no lively female figure in former works like Wang Jiao Niang, the leading lady in Jiao Hong Ji,by comparing with the novels in the Six Dynasties and TangDynasty. I will clarify that Jiao Hong Ji, though it follows the predecessors' achievements, innovates their simple classical style of writing, particularly describing the course of things, the action of figures and the dialogues concretely. Thus it succeeds in stressing the heroine'snature, thinking and feeling, and then Wang Jiao Niang appears as a new figure of woman.departmental bulletin pape

This thesis is a thorough study of the ocean writing of Hong-Ji Liao from 1995 to 2007. Broadly, the dissertation is divided into three major parts and aims to explore the environmental issues that the author concerns and confronts with and how he ponders over and reacts to deal with the harsh situation. The first chapter is to give a full explanation of why selecting Hong-Ji Liao as the research subject and make clear how I’m going to organize and present my framework. As for the second, third and fourth chapter, in addition to respectively analyzing the characteristic style of the author’s works, I’ll also try to probe the ideas guiding his literary creation and see how stage by stage the author comes to realize man’s place in nature and attempts to broaden his horizons and deepen his cognition of ecological thought and awareness through systematically participating in environmental practices in the local community and incessantly re-examining the environmental discourse in Taiwan in the specific social and historical contexts. With regard to chapter five, it is conclusion. In an overall view, the ocean writing of Hong-Ji Liao provides us a new look to observe Taiwan from an ecological perspective and helps us to shape and develop the environmental ethics and conservation philosophy of our own. There’s still a lot to do to promote the ecological awareness and movement in our society and Hong-Ji Liao’s texts are definitely the ones that can attract the attention of and open the discussion among the public.

Loyalty is a permanent concern to dictators. It is unclear, however, whether loyalty to a dictator assures the ruling group’s cohesiveness. This study shows that authoritarian political elites under promotion pressure, while remaining loyal to their superior, also compete within factions to outrival their peers. Exploiting data on Chinese provincial leaders and local media reports on corruption investigations and industrial accidents (2000-2014), we find that Chinese elites promote negative news related to their co-faction peers as frequently as – or, depending on the measure, even more often than – they promote similar news regarding members of other factions. We also find that negative reports indeed reduce the promotion probability of reported cadres, while increasing that of reporting ones
