Contact analysis and mathematical modeling of traveling wave ultrasonic motors

    No full text
An analysis of the contact layer and a mathematical modeling of traveling wave ultrasonic motors (TWUM) are presented for the guidance of the design of contact layer and the analyses of the influence of the compressive force and contact layer on motor performance. The proposed model starts from a model previously studied but differs from that model in that it adds the analysis of the contact layer and derives the steady-state solutions of the nonlinear equations in the frequency domain, rather than in the time domain, for the analyses of vibrational responses of the stator and operational characteristics of the motor. The maximum permissible compressive force of the motor, the influences of the contact layer material, the thickness of the contact layer, and the compressive force on motor performance have been discussed. The results show that by using the model, one can understand the influence of the compressive force and contact layer material on motor performance, guide the choice of proper contact layer material, and calculate the maximum permissible compressive force and starting voltage.IEEE Transaction on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Contro

The development and application of a novel precise health management model for pulmonary nodules population: a prospective cohort study

    No full text
Background: The early screening of lung cancer faces issues such as overtreatment, complex patient visits processes, poor adherence, and significant psychological harm. The purpose of this study was to develop a novel precise health management model for lung nodule patients aimed at optimizing patient management processes. Methods: Two thousand eight hundred sixteen consecutive patients undergoing early lung cancer screening at our department were included in the study. A new management model has been developed that incorporates a structured follow-up script system and a level-to-level multidisciplinary treatment approach. The patients were divided into the following two groups: intervention group (Group A) was managed using the new model, and control group (Group B) was managed using a traditional model. Timely follow-up visits, the average cumulative effective dose (ED), the proportion percentage of patients who have surgery at the hospital, the proportion percentage of benign nodules in the surgical patients, the proportion percentage of patients diagnosed with malignant tumors in Tumor Node Metastasis (TNM) stage I after surgery, and the follow-up interval for the low-risk pulmonary nodule (PN) patients were evaluated between the two groups. Results: In total, 1,178 patients in the intervention group and 1,638 patients in the control group were included in the study. The loss to follow up rate was significantly lower in the intervention group than the control group (28.5% versus 32.5%, P=0.03). The intervention group had a significantly higher rate of timely return visits than the control group (60.3% versus 53.0%, P=0.001). The average cumulative ED of radiation was significantly lower in the intervention group than the control group (4.611±3.909 versus 5.631±5.345 mSv, P=0.001). The incidence of postoperative benign lesions decreased from 13.0% to 3.0% under the novel model in the intervention group. Conclusions: Our model provided a more rational and effective management strategy for PNs. This approach simplified the process steps for a patient visit, improved patients’ adherence, reduced radiation exposure, avoided overdiagnosis and overtreatment, and reduced psychological harm

从“丰嘉”的形成看翻译的社会属性 = A study on the transformation of Singapore's colloquial place name "Hong Kah" and its social function

    No full text
This paper aims to examine the transformation of Singapore's colloquial place name "Hong Kah" and its social function. Hong Kah was initially transliterated according to the pronunciation of its Chinese dialect name. Before 1960s, Hong Kah Village’s Chinese translated name portrayed too much of the religious symbolism in it. Therefore, Hong Kah Village went through two retranslation processes in 1960s and 1970s respectively. In conjunction of both Skopos theory and cultural studies-oriented translation, this paper also explores how the social and cultural aspects influenced the translator’s choice of words and translation techniques used in the targeted text, in order to accommodate to the multi-ethnic and multicultural society in Singapore.Bachelor of Art

Phylogenetic relationships and estimation of divergence times among Sisoridae catfishes

Nineteen taxa representing 10 genera of Sisoridae were subjected to phylogenetic analyses of sequence data for the nuclear genes Plagl2 and ADNP and the mitochondrial gene cytochrome . The three data sets were analyzed separately and combined into a single data set to reconstruct phylogenetic relationships among Chinese sisorids. Both Chinese Sisoridae as a whole and the glyptosternoid taxa formed monophyletic groups. The genus is likely to be the earliest diverging extant genus among the Chinese Sisoridae. The four species included in the study formed a monophyletic group. was indicated to be earliest diverging glyptosternoid, followed by and . Our data supported the conclusion that and both formed a monophyletic group. On the basis of the fossil record and the results of a molecular dating analysis, we estimated that the Sisoridae diverged in the late Miocene about 12.2 Mya. The glyptosternoid clade was indicated to have diverged, also in the late Miocene, about 10.7 Mya, and the more specialized glyptosternoid genera, such as , originated in the Pleistocene (within 1.9 Mya). The speciation of glyptosternoid fishes is hypothesized to be closely related with the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.Nineteen taxa representing 10 genera of Sisoridae were subjected to phylogenetic analyses of sequence data for the nuclear genes Plagl2 and ADNP and the mitochondrial gene cytochrome .
