No full textHerr writes to share travel arrangements for the Ohio Conference delegates attending the 1852 General Conference in Boston, which starts on April 26th. Herr is sad to hear that Finley is in poor health, and will most likely not attend Conference. He tries to convince hm to come anyway, stating that the delegation will take good care of him. Finley has evidently asked Herr and Strickland to do him justice when they write his memoir. Herr promises that they will do so. No full textThis article shows the life of a glazier from Elbląg Benjamin Herr (before 1642–1706), who settled in Warmia (at first in Frombork, next in The Old Town Braniewo). The autor, among other things, established the date of a birth/baptism of his son Franciszek Ignacy Herr, the future archipriest of a chapter from Dobre MiastoZnaczna większość druków z XVI w. Biblioteki „Hosianum” w Olsztynie, stanowią dzieła teologiczne, zarówno katolickie, jak i protestanckie. Są to zarówno znanych przedstawicieli reformacji: Erazma z Rotterdamu, Marcina Lutra, Filipa Melanchtona, Jana Kalwina, Jana Bugenhagena, jak i mniej znanych. Wśród przedstawicieli kontrreformacji należy wymienić: Johna Fishera, Johannesa Ecka, Stanisława Hozjusza, Melchiora Cano czy Roberta Bellarmina. Niniejsze opracowanie nie jest kompletnym katalogiem druków okresu reformacji i kontrreformacji w zbiorach książnicy seminaryjnej. Zostały w nim jedynie wskazane i omówione dzieła typowe dla tej epoki oraz – zdaniem autora – najciekawsze

Nowe spojrzenie na planowanie architektury mieszkaniowej w afryce subsaharyjskiej
No full textThe author shares his reflections on state of art in housing and urban planning, deficiencies, expectations and possibilities in the Sahel region of Africa. He notices, that the housing problem in Africa is one of the challenges, which should be solved in order to recover life dignity of African people and secure their rights to traditional family life in acceptable conditions. The paper describes the studies on the typical dispersed urban structures and the need to foster this type of settlement structure and proposals of introduction of new on light steel frame housing system in the area of Sahel, combining the traditional way of building houses with modern technology. The particularly analysed case, is the housing problem in the Republic of Chad. The author presents the basic discussion on this topic and his architectural proposals. Unfortunately, the gap between the needs and the financial feasibility of housing construction in this area, makes this project already at the starting point extremely difficult to be realized without external subventions.Problem mieszkaniowy w Afryce jest jednym z wyzwań, które należy rozwiązać, aby Afrykanie mogli odzyskać godność życiową i zabezpieczyć swoje prawa do tradycyjnego życia rodzinnego w akceptowalnych warunkach. W artykule opisano badania nad typowymi rozproszonymi strukturami miejskimi i potrzebą wspierania tego typu struktur osadniczych oraz propozycji wprowadzenia nowego systemu konstrukcji domów, opartym na lekkim szkielecie stalowym, łączącym tradycyjny sposób budowania domów z nowoczesną technologią. Przypadkiem szczególnie analizowanym jest problem mieszkaniowy w Republice Czadu. Autor przedstawia podstawową dyskusję na ten temat i swoje propozycje architektoniczne. Niestety luka między potrzebami mieszkaniowymi w Czadzie a finansową wykonalnością budownictwa mieszkaniowego w tym obszarze sprawia, że projekt ten, już w punkcie wyjścia, jest niezwykle trudny do realizacji bez uzyskania zewnętrznych dotacji
