Design of Tensile Strained InGaAsP/InGaAsP MQW for 1.55μmpolarization Indepent Semiconductor Optical Amplifier
The theoretical optimization of tensile strained InGaAsP/InGaAsP MQW for 1.5μm window polarization-independent semiconductor optical amplifier is reported. The valence-band structure of the MQw is calculated by using K·P method, in which 6×6 Luttinger effective-mass Hamiltonian is taken into account. LThe polarization dependent optical gain is calculated with various well width, strain, and carrier density

Chinese sectoral industrial policy shaping international trade and investment patterns - Evidence from the iron and steel industry
In the three decades since China's economic opening to the world, the country's integration into the global economy has progressed by leaps and bounds. Especially after joining the WTO in 2001, international trade and investment flows have been on a steep upward trajectory. This process was not only driven by market forces but heavily influenced by government intervention in commodity and financial markets. While government authorities are strongly determined to promote closer economic integration with the rest of the world, they seek to supervise and control the process in order to carve out maximum benefits for domestic enterprises and the economy as a whole. Balancing market forces and industrial policy strategy, political decision makers have worked out an elaborate framework of measures to create an environment conducive to the development of several sectors deemed backbone or pillar industries. As one of them, the steel industry is subjected to numerous measures steering its development both in the home market and at the global market interface. By examining these mechanisms, this article aims to illustrate that sectoral industrial policy in China does not push for expanding exports and investments across the board but carefully and discretionarily promotes global integration in some areas while delaying it in others. --Economic integration, industrial policy, trade policy, trade restrictions, foreign direct investment, steel industry
A Discussion on the Operational Mechanism of Private Equity in China
This article analyses and makes a research on the financing, investment, management and exit mechanism in the operational process of private equity(PE). In the end, the author puts forward four suggestions including updating financing structure, widening financing channels, establishing financing investment risk and technology evaluation systems, establishing the OTC market and consummating the incentive pay contract mechanism, improving the structure of the capital market, and rolling out supporting policies about PE by the government simultaneously.Computer Science, Artificial IntelligenceComputer Science, Interdisciplinary ApplicationsEICPCI-S(ISTP)
The political economy of rural development in China: reflections on current rural policy
The paper examines some of the main political economy dynamics of the policy initiatives on rural development that have been taken since 2003, and provides an overview of the main issues that they are addressing. The paper first outlines the major agrarian problems that have emerged over the recent decade and more, indicating their main political-economy causations, and then systematically analyses the prospects of the new policy initiatives to deal with them. Among the new policies the initiatives to reorganise the finance system through a reform of the roles of the county and a development of town and township governments to become points of delivery of public goods and social services are highlighted as particularly potent. Further importance is associated with reforms that strengthen the role of rural residents as citizens. The impact of the Chinese government's economic stimulus package in response to the ongoing global financial crisis is yet to become visible, but it is clear that the changes must be backed up with very substantial political and financial commitments. --rural policy, political economy,rural-urban relations
