The Egyptian religious scholar, 'Abd al-Basit, presented this paper during the symposium held by the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences (IOMS) in Kuwait during the period 15-17 January 1985 on the beginning and the end of human life. The main thesis of this paper is that brain death is not a reliable death criterion from an Islamic perspective. Basing his argument on the opinions of early Muslim religious scholars, the author opines that man cannot be declared dead as long as one of the vital organs, such as the heart, is still functioning. Thus, no organs can be harvested from such a person because he is still living according to the Muslim religious scholars

سعید حوی کا نظریہ قرآنی وحدت موضوعی، اہمیت وانفرادیت: SAEED HAWWA\u27S THEORY OF QUR\u27ANIC THEMATIC UNIT IMPORTANCE AND INDIVIDUALITY

There are different views of Quranic experts regarding the order and propriety in the verses and surahs of the Holy Quran but Saeed Hawwa took a unique view. He described Surah Baqarah as the axis and Summary of the entire Holy Quran, while the rest of the Surahs are the details of Baqarah. He adapted his theory in the eleven volumes of Al-Asas fi al-Tafseer. The Shaykh called this theory "Qur\u27anic Thematic Unity"_ and he is unique in this theory, through the successful application of which he rejected the Orientalist objections of incoherence to the Holy Qur\u27an. Apart from this work, the miracle of the Qur\u27an was confirmed, the frequency of interpretations was determined and the understanding of the Qur\u27an was facilitated

Dynamic composition and management of emergency response processes

The number of disasters, whether human-made or natural, has been on the rise over in the recent years; they have destroyed lives, homes, and caused widespread damage to infrastructure. The increase in disasters means there is also a higher demand for efficient response planning. Effective emergency response planning requires communication and coordination with the diverse operational systems belonging to various collaborating government agencies, non-government organizations (NGOs), and private sector entities. An essential requirement for developing an emergency response process is to establish information sharing and system-level interoperability among the operational systems of collaborating organizations. The challenge is that emergency response processes are not well-structured and do not have a well-defined outcome; they are knowledge-centric. Their workflow structure and execution may evolve dynamically based on the environmental context and the type of service or activity invoked during process execution. It is impractical to define static plans and response process workflows for every possible situation since unforeseeable situations may arise. Thus, a dynamic response requires adaptability to a changing situation as an incident evolves. In this thesis, we develop an iterative end-to-end solution for the dynamic composition and management of an Emergency Response Management System, called Dynamic Emergency Response Processes System (DERPS). DERPS allows the Incident Commander to develop a contextualized response using ontology-based reasoning and allows its dynamic adaptation to situational changes. We also adapt and apply DERPS in the COVID-19 context. Specifically, given the pandemic’s scale and scope, home-based isolation has been considered a potential first step to reduce the spread of the virus and limit the stress on the healthcare system. However, home-based isolation needs and requirements are unique for each patient. We show how DERPS can be utilized to develop personalized patient care plans to ensure that each patient’s needs are appropriately met while they are confined to their home. We develop a prototype implementation to show the feasibility of the proposed framework and discuss challenges and issues in deploying such a system in practice.Ph.D.Includes bibliographical reference

Toward leadership crisis that crashed the nation of Indonesia, one of the factors contributors come from universities, concerning Higher Education is a nursery area of society and the national leaders. To overcome the crisis, it needed to repair the leadership models that are able to change and improve social and national life. The mandate of the university is shaping and sharpening thinking of the lecturers, students, and alumni to always siding, thinking and acting for the benefit and improvement of the surrounding communities. One alternative models of leadership that are relevant to college is spiritual leadership. Spiritual leadership has been tested and researched by Louis W. Fry ( 2003) along with the comrades in the context of different organizations and the results show the possibility of the application of this theoretical model for various types of organizations. According to Fry spiritual leadership is the incorporation of the necessary values, attitudes and behaviors to motivate intrinsically oneselves and others to be such a way so that they have a sense of spiritual defense through the call of duty and membership. Spiritual leadership model is studied by the author in STAIN Purwokerto, as Islamic educational institutions which incidentally has been practicing spiritual values in their environment. The study was conducted using qualitative research and case study approach. Spiritual leadership in STAIN Purwokerto is constructed based on three important things: First, the existence of spiritual values that were held by leaders and serve as an ideology or belief to motivate himself and others. Spiritual values are values such are togetherness, belief or determination, and obeying the rules. Second, building tradition of spiritual leadership that is reflected in the actions taken by leaders in achieving the vision to be achieved by STAIN Purwokerto. The habitual process is done by sticking to spiritual values carried. Then it is implemented by issuing flagship programs supported by strategic policies carried out intensively so that it becomes a regular agenda of the academic community and staff as well as to produce a healthy organizational culture and quality. Third, organizational culture is fostered by building a dynamic atmosphere, full of family-like-feeling, cooperation, open and respectful in terms of spiritual, intellectual and professional. The efforts are made from simple things and daily life by providing deep meaning so that it can be used as a driver towards the direction of progress

Indonesia is known as an industrial nation, more specifically by making corrective exercises in all daily problems, both changes in actual events and changes in non-actual events. The motivation behind this improvement is to meet the expectations of the Indonesian state and state, the most significant of which is government assistance from individuals. The main problem in this study is how the implementation of occupational health and safety protection for workers at CV. Basit Eshan Abadi in Lipat Kain Selatan Village, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency and What are the inhibiting factors in implementing occupational health and safety protection for workers at CV. The Eshan Abadi Basit in the Folding South Fabric Village, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency. The type of research used in this research is sociological legal research that utilizes primary, secondary and tertiary data. While the nature is descriptive, which describes in detail about the implementation of occupational health and safety in CV. The Immortal Eshan Basit and the factors that hinder it. Implementation of occupational health and safety protection for workers at CV. Basit Eshan Abadi is quite good, it's just that there are some employees who have work accidents while doing work caused by several factors, the most important factor is the element of negligence from the workers themselves because they do not heed the instructions of the boss/employer where he works. . Based on research conducted by the author regarding the obstacles faced by CV. Basit Eshan Abadi in carrying out occupational health and safety are: There is no awareness of the workers about the dangers of the work they are doing and do not agree with the application of the work relationship that has been established and workers are not talented. So work accidents can occur, here and there also caused by carelessness in work. This dangerous condition comes when the workers do not know or are not careful. In addition, mental factors also affect the occurrence of work accidents, for example there are problems outside the workplace, such as laborers who are sick or recovering from illness, family problems and various other problems. Workers' inaction and laziness in utilizing and using safety equipment, namely personal protective equipment to avoid the dangers of work accidents, for example: sprains, falling on wood, unstable air due to inhalation of sawdust, and others. The responsibility factor for the occupational health and safety strategy that causes the low implementation of occupational health and safety for the implementing framework in the company is that there is no firmness from the company to apply sanctions for violators, namely workers who do work more than once to make mistakes. Lack of cohesiveness among workers in implementing the implementation of occupational health and safety in a company in order to avoid work accidents, and others

Single-Timestamp Skew Correction (STSC) in V2X Networks

    No full text
Modern vehicles nowadays have many capabilities apart from the basic function of driving. These are now intelligent, smart, and can communicate over the Internet. A vehicle-to-everything (V2X) wireless network represents a network where vehicles communicate vital sensor data with other vehicles, pedestrians, and fixed infrastructure over the internet. There are various challenges in V2X communication that may affect the efficiency of autonomous devices, systems, and infrastructure. Of the many challenges, time synchronization among many devices in V2X networks is a key challenge. In a V2X network, all nodes within the network need to be time-synchronized; this is essential for task scheduling, computation off-loading, event sequencing, resource sharing, and efficient utilization of resources in the network. In recent works, many researchers have addressed time synchronization in V2X networks by considering multiple timestamps in order to estimate the time skew offset with varying results. In this paper, we consider a skew-based approach, namely, a single-timestamp skew correction (STSC) for time synchronization in V2X networks. The proposed method needs a single timestamp to estimate time skew at the hardware level with the help of physical-layer time synchronization using symbol timing recovery. Implementation results prove that the STSC accurately synchronizes the nodes in phase and frequency, therefore resulting in a greater accuracy and better energy savings in the V2X networks

Manual or electronic? The role of coding in qualitative data analysis

    No full text
Data analysis is the most difficult and most crucial aspect of qualitative research. Coding is one of the significant steps taken during analysis to organize and make sense of textual data. This paper examines the use of manual and electronic methods to code data in two rather different projects in which the data were collected mainly by in-depth interviewing. The author looks at both the methods in the light of her own experience and concludes that the choice will be dependent on the size of the project, the funds and time available, and the inclination and expertise of the researcher
