Out of the multitude of rose varieties that we are enjoying today, English roses stand out not only for the diversity of their shapes but especially for their delicate and highly fragrant flowers. They combine the graceful style of old 19th-century roses with brightly coloured petals and the elegance of modern varieties. Most of them bloom repeatedly and abundantly, being appreciated by those who love the nostalgic timeless look of old-fashioned roses. English roses are very versatile, having been created to be adaptable to a wide range of plant compositions, in which, the abundance of flowers and their intense fragrance have a remarkable impact. This paper analyses the behaviour of several varieties of English roses for their appropriate use in various landscaping arrangements

Sustainable assessment of tomato yield can be carried out through the technological measures used. Early production allows farmers to better respond to early market demands. The aim of the work was to evaluate the influence of four tomato cultivars irrigated with two different irrigation norms on early and total production. The highest early yield was recorded in the hybrid Siriana F1 (41.35 t/ha), while the highest total yield was obtained by the cultivar HTP F1 (143.27 t/ha). As for the combined interaction of factors on early yield, it ranged from 22.11 t/ha in the case of the variety Inima de bou, irrigated with 300 m3/ha, to 42.19 t/ha in the case of the hybrid Siriana, irrigated with 400 m3/ha

The paper presents a study on the main pedological, agrochemical and biological indices of the different types of substrate used for growing vegetables in pots and containers in order to optimize the growth and development of plants. The researchewere carried out in an experimental field set up at the Didactic Center of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Iasi. Three types of substrate were used: S1 -substrate made from 35% garden soil, 35% compost, 20% peat, 10% sandand pearlite, S2-substrate made of earth 35% garden, 20% compost, 35% peat, 10% sand and pearlite; S3 -commercially available substrate. Determinations havebeen made on:nutrients, pH, humidity and granulometry. Substrate quality assessment was performed on the basis of yield and harvest qualit

Due to urban acceleration and current social and economic development, gardens have begun to receive increased attention from society. Just as therapeutic gardens can be designed for hospitals or green relaxation spaces for employees, gardens can also be designed for event locations. Private event venues have begun to pay more attention to green space around buildings to provide attendees with green areas to relax and socialize. More and more event locations are located on the city's outskirts, thus offering the opportunity to create perspectives with natural views. In the present work, it was desired to design a private garden for events with multiple purposes (civil weddings, christening parties, marriage parties, corporate parties, etc.), in the Iasi city, Romania, on the shores of Lake Ciric II. The design style adopted had sinuous forms and minimal intervention on the existing tree vegetation. The proposed vegetation was represented by deciduous trees that will provide decoration through shape and color and by shrubs grouped in compositions that will provide decoration in all seasons

Urban expansion has led the population to create small green spaces around their homes, and the desire to consume fruits and/or vegetables grown according to their own principles, convinced them that a vegetable garden is beneficial, in terms of both food and aesthetics. The data gathered from the specialized scientific literature allowed making a classification of the family vegetable gardens, taking into account the following: the purpose, the style of the design, the functionality and the way of construction. Depending on the purpose, there are vegetable gardens for utilitarian purposes, vegetable gardens for therapeutic purposes and vegetable gardens for culinary purposes. Depending on the style, there are vegetable gardens designed in a geometric style, vegetable gardens arranged in a free style and those arranged in a mixed style. Taking into account the functionality are the ecological, educational, cultural, aesthetic-recreational and sanitary vegetable gardens. In addition, depending on the construction method are the vegetable gardens at ground level, on raised beds, the vegetable gardens in pots and containers and the vegetable gardens on wicker beds. This classification helps to achieve the concept of designing the vegetable garden for decorative purposes and, in this way, can be integrated into the overall design of the property

Ornamental vegetable garden design possibilities using modular raised beds

Ornamental vegetable gardens have many benefits. They are aesthetic, educational, ecological, economical, sanitary, and are a source of fresh food. Small allotments in urban and peri-urban areas do not allow the implementation of utilitarian gardens. Thus, ornamental vegetable gardens are the best choice. Raised beds can be used to enhance the decorative effect of the entire vegetable garden. This type of construction presents, in turn, several advantages both for the user and crop: reduced effort for maintenance work, early heating of the substrate, loose substrate, reduced volume of weeds, efficient use of space for plants, etc. Establishing ornamental vegetable gardens on raised beds is easily achieved using geometric modules, as they can be adapted to various designs. This paper presents several design options for a decorative vegetable garden on private properties. The case studies presented showed different methods of using modular raised beds depending on the property’s area, the owner’s wishes, and the desired area to be planted. Also, depending on the results obtained from the experimental batch, three other variations of modular layouts with different purposes were proposed: focal point, physically closed but visually open space, and relaxation space
