PSALM LX UND PSALM CVIII
AbstractThis historical allusions in Ps lx are sufficiently specific to date this psalm to the years 599 or 598 B.C.E.; the psalm may thus be understood as the work of a single author. The repetition of Ps lx 7-12 in Ps cviii 7-14, with due regard for the whole composition of Pss cviii-cx, leads further proof to the dating of Ps cx (and cviii) to the reign of John Hyrcan. Within the (proto-) canonical psalter, Ps lx and cviii read related to each other as promise (Ps lx) and fulfillment (Ps cviii).

Pieminēti arī iespējamie valodas L3 lietojumi.In the Master’s paper a short summary of the model driven system architecture is given there. The author has described model transformation languages L0’, L1, L2 and L3 in the development of which he has taken part, the syntax and semantics of these languages, and the connection between them and the base transformation language L0. In addition, a detailed insight into main principles and problems of implementation of the languages L0’, L1, L2 and L3 is given in the paper. Moreover, a detailed description of the actual implementation, i.e., a compiler of the language L3 to the base language L0 is given. An opportunity to verify the functionality of this compiler by downloading it from the website of the Lx languages’ family is offered. Possible cases of usage of the language L3 are mentioned as well
Immunohistochemical Features Associated with Sensitivity to Lapatinib-plus-Capecitabine and Resistance to Trastuzumab in HER2-positive Breast Cancer
Aim: To identify immunohistochemical (IHC) features associated with sensitivity to lapatinib-plus-capecitabine (LX) and resistance to trastuzumab in human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER)-2-positive metastatic breast cancer. Patients and Methods: Expression levels of estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, epidermal growth factor receptor, HER2, HER3/phosphorylated HER3 (pHER3), phosphatase and tensin homolog, thymidylate synthase (TYMS), and thymidine phosphorylase by IHC were compared between patients treated with LX following trastuzumab failure. Results: In 35 patients, HER2 was the only biomarker associated with LX treatment outcomes. A high HER2 level was associated with significantly longer survival and a tendency towards longer time-to-progression and higher response rates. Acquisition of trastuzumab resistance was associated with higher pHER3 and TYMS expression. Elevated pHER3 was predictive of superior treatment outcomes. Conclusion: Upregulation of pHER3 and TYMS was associated with trastuzumab resistance. High HER2 and increased pHER3 IHC levels correlated with favourable LX treatment outcomes in patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer.N
The Diophantine equation (x+1)k + (x+2)k + ... plus (lx)k = yn revisted
Let k,l >= 2 be fixed integers, and C be an effectively computable constant depending only on k and l. In this paper, we prove that all solutions of the equation (x + 1)(k) + (x + 2)(k) + ... + (lx)(k) = y(n) in integers x, y,n with x, y >= 1, n >= 2, k not equal 3 and l 1 (mod 2) satisfy max{x, y, n} < C. The case when is even has already been completed by the second author (see [24])
Investigating the use of rubber to attenuate the effect of blast load applied to a surrogate lower leg
Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 191-197).Landmines are the epitome of the perfect soldier: always ready, never tiring. Landmines also do not choose their victims - it may very well be an armed and protected soldier or an innocent civilian who activates the detonator. As such, land mines have reached epidemic proportions in the Third World, affecting both combatants and civilians, whether they are on foot or in a vehicle. When stepping on an anti-personnel land mine, traumatic amputation of the foot, lower leg or upper leg is generally expected. However, an anti-vehicle landmine detonating underneath a vehicle can have equally as detrimental results, as the occupants of the vehicle are bound to sustain serious injuries to the lower extremities. These injuries can vary from being less life threatening to being fatal in some extreme cases. Anthropomorphic test devices have been developed and refined over the years to represent the occupant exposed to simulated land mine detonation and then to retrieve valuable technical information from the test data. In the present investigation a simplified aluminium surrogate lower leg was designed, manufactured and subjected to axial blast testing. In addition, a rubber layer representing the sole of a standard army combat boot was placed below the foot model in a separate series of blast tests. The main factors investigated in this study were the effect of varying the amount and positioning of the explosives and the attenuation produced by including the rubber sole layer. The blast tests were conducted using a horizontal ballistic pendulum, with the foot model placed axially in the pendulum. The disc shaped explosives of different mass was placed in the centre of the detonation plate and axially in line with the heel respectively to draw a comparison between the respective stresses induced in the lower leg. As expected, the stress recorded by the strain gauges placed on the lower leg was significantly higher when the explosives were positioned in line with the heel than when placed in the centre of the detonation plate. The same series of blast tests were performed with the rubber sole being included in the test setup. Alternating the positioning of the explosives did not yield a significant difference in induced stress. Investigation of the blast attenuation provided by the rubber layer showed that the peak stress is mitigated by approximately 70%, which was much greater than expected. An elementary analytical solution was performed as a preliminary validation of the experimental test results. Furthermore, a finite element model of the aluminium surrogate foot and the rubber layer was created and a numerical simulation of each blast test was executed. Material data for the aluminium and rubber obtained via Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar testing were employed to construct the material models used in the finite element model. The results from the numerical simulations compare well to the experimental test results for the blast loading conditions where the rubber layer was excluded from the test setup. In the case where the rubber layer was included in the testing, the trend and shape of the stress graphs obtained from the numerical simulation results agrees with the stress curves recorded during the actual blast tests. However, the peak stresses recorded during the experimental blast tests are found to be significantly higher than the peak stresses yielded by the numerical simulations
Increased frequency of the mannose-binding lectin LX haplotype in Chinese systemic lupus erythematosus patients
Mannose-binding lectin (MBL) is an important complement-activating protein of the human immune system. As a result of one of three structural gene mutations in exon 1 (variants B, C and D) and/or the presence of a low-efficiency promoter polymorphism, MBL deficiency may be associated with increased susceptibility to infectious diseases and to autoimmune disorders, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Using a combined approach of heteroduplex generator and polymerase chain reaction, a systematic search for mutations in exon 1 and the promoter region of the MBL gene was performed in a Chinese study population comprising 41 SLE patients and 111 healthy controls. Two alleles, a wild-type allele A and a variant allele B (a previously reported mutation of GGC to GAC at codon 54), were identified in MBL exon 1. The frequency of the B allele (0.15) was higher in the SLE patients than in the healthy controls (0.09), but the difference did not attain statistical significance (P > 0.05). However, for two polymorphisms at positions "12550 and "12221 in the promoter region, the frequency of the low-MBL-producing haplotype (LX) in the patients (0.2073) was significantly higher than that in the controls (0.0855) (P = 0.003, relative risk = 2.79). Our results suggest that the LX haplotype represents a strong risk factor among Chinese SLE patients. Although of lesser importance, the MBL B allele also may be a risk component in the developing process of SLE in Chinese patients
Crack detection in beams by wavelet analysis
In this paper, the wavelet transform is applied to the time-frequency analysis of the flexural waves in beams for crack detection. Here, a cantilever beam with edge cracks is used for a model to analyze the wave information after it is loaded an impact hammer on its free end. The flexural waves propagating in beams are dispersive and can be measured directly by using electrical-resistance strain gauges during the dynamic process. According to the data about one-crack and two-crack beams, we utilize the Morlet wavelet transform to decompose the flexural waves into each frequency component in time domain. The experimental results illustrate that the crack position can be detected exactly by means of the signal of mid-frequency flexural wave extracted by wavelet transform. The method is also suitable for determining the existence and location of multi-crack in a beam.http://gateway.webofknowledge.com/gateway/Gateway.cgi?GWVersion=2&SrcApp=PARTNER_APP&SrcAuth=LinksAMR&KeyUT=WOS:000176853900053&DestLinkType=FullRecord&DestApp=ALL_WOS&UsrCustomerID=8e1609b174ce4e31116a60747a720701Instruments & InstrumentationMechanicsMaterials Science, Characterization & TestingOpticsEICPCI-S(ISTP)

Golden-rule treatment on the ClO/ClO+ electron-transfer system
The structures, properties and electron transfer reactivity of the ClO/ClO+ coupling system are studied in this paper at ab initio (HF and MP2) levels and the density functional theory (DFT: B3LYP, B3P86, B3PW91) levels employing 6311 + G(3df) basis set and on the basis of the golden-rule of the time-dependent perturbation theory. Investigations indicate that the results got from the B3LYP method employing 6-311 + G(3df) basis set is in excellent agreement with the experiment. The activation energies, the stabilization energies and the electronic coupling matrix elements have also been calculated by using the B3LYP/6-311 + G(3df) method, and then the electron transfer rates are determined at this level. The electronic coupling matrix element of EC.6 is very small, only 0.03 kcal/mol, while that of EC.7 is the biggest, being 12.41 kcal/mol, the corresponding electron transfer rate is also the fastest among these seven encounter complexes. The averaged electron transfer rate is about 1.672 X 10(11) M-1 s(-1). It is indicated that the structures optimized by B3LYP method are more reliable than the results got from the other four methods. It also testified that the electronic coupling matrix element is the vital factor that significantly affects the electron transfer rate. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved
