Emergence of oblique TS mode due to longitudinal wall oscillation in 2D channel flow
Stabilizing effects of wall oscillation on two dimensional (2D) Tollmein-Schlichting (TS) waves and oblique TS waves developing in 2D channel flow are numerically investigated using the Floquet method. It was shown from the previous study[1] that the wall oscillation mostly has stabilizing effect and then TS mode is occasionally more stable than the oblique mode. In the present study the characteristics of the stability are investigated in detail. Then it is cleared that the exchange of the most unstable mode form the 2D TS to the oblique TS can occur at a certain value of Reynolds number
High performance series-resonance energy-recovery circuit for plasma display panel
A new high performance series-resonance energy-recovery circuit (ERC) for a plasma display panel (PDP) is proposed. Two different ERCs are used for both sides of the PDP, and the slow falling and fast rising times are employed. Multi-dimensional design process management by extended product modeling for concurrent process engineering
Conventional product and process models have focused on static features. That means product models are mainly based on structural decomposition of products, and process models are also often described by activity decomposition such as work breakdown structure. From the view of design process management, it is difficult to describe dynamic features of design processes appropriately through conventional methodologies. In this paper, a multidimensional approach for design process management was explored to manifest characteristics of design processes for chemical plant design. Parallelized design process for concurrent process engineering should be managed by two dimensional design activity flows. The process management makes it possible to guide progress of design processes in a helix structure by horizontal and vertical activity control simultaneously. They stand for teleological and causal relation between design activities, respectively. That can be achieved based on an extended product model, which represents various design perspectives explicitly from a conventional design activity model. The extended product model is composed of product data, design activities, and activity drivers. Dynamic features of the extended product model are expressed by an activity chain model. These concepts will support the realization of concurrent process engineering for chemical plant design in the sense that they provide design process management strategies
NMR study on the acidity of TS-1 zeolite
The acidic properties of TS-1 and Silicalite-I zeolites have been investigated by the solid-state MAS NMR technique capable of in situ sample pretreatment. As shown by a combination of the P-31 MAS NMR and H-1 MAS NMR techniques with trimethylphosphine, not only Bronsted acid sites but also Lewis acid sites exist in the TS-1 zeolites. Moreover, TS-1 zeolite is more acidic compared with Silicalite-1. The H-1, Si-29 MAS NMR spectra and the resonance related to Bronsted acid species in the P-31 MAS NMR spectra demonstrate clearly that the presence of titanium in the framework results in the formation of a new hydroxy group, titanols, which is more acidic than silanols of Silicalite-1. The P-31 MAS NMR measurements also illustrate convincingly the existence of at least two different Lewis acid species on the TS-1 zeolites. The conversion of propylene oxide into methoxypropanol catalyzed by TS-1 or Silicalite-I zeolite in methanol solution as a test reaction has also been described. With the increase of titanium in zeolite, TS-1 appears to have a higher activity during the reaction of propylene oxide to methoxypropanol

Las ciudades, el espacio urbano, el hábitat como los entornos en los cuales se despliega la vida humana, han sido objeto de estudio y de trabajo desde diversas perspectivas. A lo largo de la historia moderna, las ciudades fueron pensadas y producidas desde la arquitectura, la ingeniería, la filosofía, la sociología, la antropología, entre tantas otras disciplinas. Todos los saberes han aportado desde su especifcidad a comprender los fenómenos urbanos y a incidir en ellos.
En este número de Ts. Territorios nos propusimos incorporar la mirada del trabajo social en tanto disciplina de las Ciencias Sociales con el propósito de compartir análisis y experiencias sobre los procesos de producción del espacio, poniendo el foco en aquello que le es propio a nuestra profesión: el hábitat popular.
Entendemos que desde el trabajo social se forja una perspectiva singular sobre la problemática urbana y habitacional, que ubica a las personas y sus comunidades en el centro de la escena sin desconocer las dinámicas que operan a escala más amplia. Nuestra inserción profesional ofrece un campo privilegiado para reflexionar las múltiples y complejas aristas que atraviesan el campo del hábitat popular.

The new CEN/TS 19100: Design of glass structures
Since the beginning of 2021, CEN/TS 19100 Design of Glass Structures has been available in its first three parts. The fourth part is expected soon. This Technical Specification of the European standards organisation CEN is as a pre-standard of a corresponding future Eurocode. These documents constitute the first ever comprehensive design code for the entire structural glass engineering field on the European market for the first time. In addition to a clear outline, the Technical Specification has been drafted to be compatible with EN 1990 “Basis of Design” and to address glass-specific design matters, particularly related to robustness and redundancy. Although the standard still has the status of a CEN/TS, thereby allowing the European nations the option of whether to introduce it, either in full or in parts, it already contains national openings through which the European countries can adapt the design results to their own safety level by National Determined Parameters (NDPs). Such an approach already anticipates the future Eurocode, which is expected to be published as EN 19100—Design of Glass Structures. This article provides some context on the history and concept behind the new documents and gives an overview of the design rules and the corresponding technical background of the different parts of CEN/TS 19100.Applied MechanicsArchitectural Technolog
The PRC's Official Discourse on Mongolia since 1990
The issue of interactions between the Han Chinese and Mongolian minority national in the PRC has been drawing serious attention of western scholars in recent years. The
focal point of this thesis, however, is the textual representation of what used to be called `Outer Mongolia' and its people. in Chinese authoritative writings since the beginning of the 1990s, a period marked by the onset of a new era in the history of Mongolia and Sino-Mongolian relations.
This thesis assesses the current, arguably competing or complementing, discourses on Mongolia embedded in officially approved and published texts meant for a general,
Chinese-speaking readership. It analyses the evolution of these discourses over the last decade and highlights the discrepancies between the authoritative discourses on
Mongolia of the party and government publications.
The objective of the study is to try to understand the meaning of such changes and discrepancies within the discursive formation regarding Mongolia, and to do so from the perspective of the developments found in the more dominant, all-embracing discourse on Chinese/Zhonghua nation that have gained strength in the PRC throughout the 1990s. The thesis argues that Zhonghua discourse has lost its hegemonic position in formulating the official line on how Mongolia should be represented, interpreted, and acted upon.
A wide range of official publications including Chinese government statements, publications of various Party organs, articles from mass-circulation periodicals,
academic writings and reference literature, personal accounts, and fiction are drawn upon to illustrate the argument. This thesis uses discourse analysis as an analytical framework complemented by detailed case studies of particular representational practices and linguistic devices employed by the producers of Chinese texts to construct Mongolia's `true' identity through their writings. In order to avoid a purely structural
analysis of the texts, they have been read against the socio-political context of China-Mongolia interactions since 1990, including Mongolian perspectives on the most
controversial topics addressed by the Chinese authors, for example, the issues of Mongolia's independence
Development of EMT/TS Co-simulation Using PowerFactory and PSS/E
As the scale and complexity of power systems increase, simulating them in efficient and accurate ways continues tobe a challenge in power systems engineering. Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) and Transient Stability (TS) simulation are the two main dynamic power system simulation methods. To simulate large and complex power systems in sufficient detail without sacrificing execution time, one of the idea is to perform a co-simulation that couples EMT and TS simulator. Although several attempts have been made to couple both simulator, only on rare occasions do these hybrid EMT-TS simulators couple two or more industry-adopted simulation tools.The objective of this thesis is to to develop and study the benefits and limitations of the Electromagnetic Transient – Transient Stability co-simulation based on PowerFactory and PSS/E, both of which are among the most extensively used simulation tools in industry and academia alike. With regards to the objective, the EMT-TS co-simulation using PowerFactory and PSS/E has been developed. Then, several tests are performed to evaluate the function of each composing part of the EMT-TS co-simulation, and to test the integration between all its component. Next, The developed co-simulation is applied to study cases and the results are compared to a monolithic EMT simulation to evaluate its accuracy and execution time. Furthermore, the effect of TS and EMT time step to the accuracy and execution time of EMT-TS co-simulation have also been investigated.The study case results show that the developed EMT-TS co-simulation has not been beneficial yet in terms of accuracy and execution time. Although the active power result shows a similar tendency with the monolithic EMT result, the difference between both are visible. The difference between both are more prominent in the reactive power result. The total execution time of the developed co-simulation in the study cases are in the range of 23-24 minutes, significantly larger than the total execution time obtained from the monolithic EMT simulation which is around of 12s. Also, it is found that reducing the TS time step from 0.02 s to 0.01 s slightly increases the total simulation time from 23 to 26 minutes. However, it does not contribute a significant improvement on the accuracy of the developed EMT-TS co-simulation. The result obtained from reducing the EMT time step to is the same with the result obtained using EMT time step. Moreover, the reduction of the EMT time step significantly increases the total simulation time from 23 to 42 minutes. The developed co-simulation still has a lot of room for improvement and further developments in this topic might increase its performance.Electrical Engineering | Sustainable Energy Technolog
