A note on the nonexistence of global solutions to the semilinear wave equation with nonlinearity of derivative-type in the generalized Einstein-de Sitter spacetime
In this paper, we establish blow-up results for the semilinear wave equation in generalized Einstein-de Sitter spacetime with nonlinearity of derivative type. Our approach is based on the integral representation formula for the solution to the corresponding linear problem in the one-dimensional case, that we will determine through Yagdjian’s Integral Transform approach. As upper bound for the exponent of the nonlinear term, we discover a Glassey-type exponent which depends both on the space dimension and on the Lorentzian metric in the generalized Einstein-de Sitter spacetime
Blow-up and lifespan estimates for a damped wave equation in the Einstein–de Sitter spacetime with nonlinearity of derivative type
In this article, we investigate the blow-up for local solutions to a semilinear wave equation in the generalized Einstein–de Sitter spacetime with nonlinearity of derivative type. More precisely, we consider a semilinear damped wave equation with a time-dependent and not summable speed of propagation and with a time-dependent coefficient for the linear damping term with critical decay rate. We prove in this work that the results obtained in a previous work, where the damping coefficient takes two particular values 0 or 2, can be extended for any positive damping coefficient. We show the blow-up in finite time of local in time solutions and we establish upper bound estimates for the lifespan, provided that the exponent in the nonlinear term is below a suitable threshold and that the Cauchy data are nonnegative and compactly supported
Characteristics of Intermetallic Compounds in Dissimilar Friction Stir Welding: A Review
In the present paper, mechanical and metallurgical characteristics of different dissimilar weldments fabricated by friction stir welding were investigated. Existence of lamellar composite structure within the stir zone in addition to observation of interfacial intermetallic compounds (IMCs) was the main characteristics that were investigated throughout this research. Results indicated that the optimum IMCs layers, resulting in enhanced mechanical properties, met three criteria, thinness, uniformity, and continuity

Buckling and crushing behavior of foam-core hybrid composite sandwich columns under quasi-static edgewise compression
Buckling and crushing behavior of foam-core hybrid composite sandwich columns under edgewise compressive load is dealt in this study. Composite laminates with different stacking sequence configurations made of glass and Dyneema-woven fabrics and AL 2024-T3 sheets were used in combination of polyvinyl chloride foam core to manufacture the specimens. Effects of face sheet thickness and stacking sequence configuration, slenderness ratio, boundary conditions, and sandwich reinforcement with through-thickness resin pins on the buckling and crushing behavior of the specimens were investigated. The results revealed that using the resin pins changes the unstable Euler buckling mode to a more stable progressive end-crushing and significantly increases the buckling load, specific buckling load, and energy absorption capability, which are highly favorable. Also, the results showed that in the specimens with fiber metal laminates, the major failure modes are face sheet-core debonding and face sheet delamination. However, based on the results, specimen with hybrid face sheets made from Dyneema fabrics and aluminum plates has the highest buckling load as well as the highest specific buckling load. Also, a specific fixture was designed to laterally clamp the sandwich column which causes a reduction in the probability of specimen end-crushing and significantly increases the buckling load. - The Author(s) 2019.The publication of this article was funded by the Qatar National Library.Scopu

Dry sliding tribological properties of a hard anodized aa6082 aluminum alloy
The applications of aluminum and its alloys are still limited by low hardness and low wear resistance properties. Surface modifications, such anodizing and plasma electrolytic oxidation, represent a feasible way to overcome these drawbacks. In this study, discs of AA6082 were subjected to the so-called G.H.A. hard anodizing process leading to an anodized layer having a honeycomb-like structure. Samples having alumina layer thicknesses of 10, 50 and 100 μm were subjected to unidirectional dry sliding wear tests, using bearing steel and silicon nitride as counterbody materials. Surface and structure characterization of the samples were performed before and after the tribological tests, using a wide range of techniques; atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy techniques were used before the wear tests. The wear scars were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy techniques. Results show that the different thickness of the anodized layer does not affect the pores dimensions but has an influence on the micrometric domains in which the pores are divided. These features coupled with the wear test conditions, show to have a strong influence on the wear behavior. The thinnest sample showed also the best performance against the ceramic counterbody
