Functional health literacy in a group of Turkish patients: A pilot study
Background: There is currently no objective original measure developed in the Turkish language for evaluating health literacy. However, some instruments originally developed in Western countries and translated into Turkish do exist. Aims: The aim of this study was to translate and adapt the Test of Functional Health Literacy (TOFHLA) into the Turkish language and validate it among a group of Turkish patients. Methods: Interviews were held in an outpatient clinic. Illiterate patients, those with previously diagnosed mental illness and inadequate visual acuity were excluded. Results: Internal consistencies of the reading comprehension and numeracy items were 0.89 and 0.77, respectively. Inadequate health literacy was determined in 28.0% of participants, marginal in 30.0%, and adequate in 42.0%. Among the possible socio-demographic predictors of health literacy, the most significant predictor was the educational level. Participants with lower levels of education had significantly lower levels of health literacy. In general, reading comprehension scores were lower than the numeracy scores. The most disadvantaged groups were women and older people (≥40 years of age) because of their lower levels of education. Discussion: The TOFHLA in the Turkish language seems to be a valid measure. Functional health literacy was found to be inadequate or marginal. Without enhancing the overall educational level, especially of women, efforts to improve health literacy seem to be ineffective. Conclusions: Functional health literacy is related to education. Non-written visual materials should be considered as a temporary solution to improve health literacy in populations with low literacy
A study of ‘calf-path’ in file naming in institutional repositories in India
This study examined the file naming practices in 39 institutional repositories. There is evidence that calf-path exists infile naming among the curators of institutional repositories in India. The study showed that no standard or logic seems tohave been followed by repositories in the naming of the files, except by the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) and theCSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR). The study also examined thecomposition of the filenames, which shows that the author names (11.2%), titles (11.9%), journal title with volume and issuenumbers (21.1%) form the basis for the formation of filenames. It is suggested that digital repository managers have to givemore attention to name files in the institutional repository in the interest of uniformity and consistency
Analysis of company's SIA "Alis Co" economic activity ways of improvement thereof
Bakalaura darba tēma - Uzņēmuma SIA “Alis Co” saimnieciskās darbības analīze un pilnveidošanas virzieni. Uzņēmuma efektīva saimnieciskā darbība ir viena no centrālajām problēmām, kuru risina uzņēmuma vadība visā pastāvēšanas laikā. Pašlaik valstī šī tēma ir ļoti aktuāla, jo Covid-19 pandēmijas laikā daļa uzņēmumu, nespēj ātri piesaistīt jaunus līdzekļus. Līdz ar to likviditātes trūkums, atkarība no kreditoriem varēja pārvērsties maksātnespējā. Neskatoties uz to, ka valdība atbalstīja privāto sektoru ar īpašiem palīdzības pasākumiem, uzņēmumi saskarās ar tādām problēmām savā saimnieciskajā darbībā ļoti bieži. Bakalaura darba izstrādes mērķis – pamatojoties uz SIA “Alis Co” saimnieciskās darbības analīzes pamatā izstrādāt priekšlikumus uzņēmuma darbības veicināšanai. Izvirzītā mērķa sasniegšanai ir nepieciešams veikt sekojošus uzdevumus: 1.raksturot saimnieciskās darbības analīzes teorētiskus aspektus; 2.veikt SIA “Alis Co” saimnieciskās darbības analīzi, tai skaitā finanšu analīzi un SVID analīzi; 3.izdarīt secinājumus un izstrādāt SIA “Alis Co” darbības pilnveidošanas virzienus. Darbs sastāv no trīs daļām. Pirmajā sadaļā apskatīti saimnieciskās darbības analīzes teorētiskie aspekti, tai skaitā tirdzniecības nozares rādītāji un attīstības prognozes. Otrā sadaļā darba autore veic SIA “Alis Co” saimnieciskās darbības analīzi laika posmā no 2018. gada līdz 2020. gadam. Bakalaura darba apjoms veido 67 lapas (bez pielikumiem). Darbā izmantoti 29 attēli, 23 tabulas un 27 literatūras avoti. Darbam pievienoti 4 pielikumi. Atslēgvārdi: saimnieciskā darbība, pilnveidošanas virzieni, finansiālais stāvoklis, pārdošanas apjomi, tirdzniecības nozare. The topic of the bachelor’s paper is analysis of company’s SIA “Alis Co” economic activity and ways of improvement thereof. Author self-archiving and licensing policies of open access library and information science journals: a study
Examines self-archiving and licensing clauses of OA journals indexed in DOAJ and SHERPA/RoMEO databases. Findings of the study suggest that RoMEO codings of licensing policies are updated infrequently. The database does not provide all the necessary information in the licensing clauses. Creative Commons licensing ‘by-cd-nd’ is the widely used model. Majority of the journals (23%) permit post-print self-archiving. The most frequently appearing statement in the licensing clauses is "Publisher's version/PDF may be used"

Collaboration of Authorship and Co-Citation Pattern in Annals of Library and Information Studies (ALIS) during 2011-2020: An Evaluation
The Annals of Library and Information Studies (ALIS) is probably the most well-known journal in the library and information science discipline. This paper examines the collaboration and authorship pattern of ALIS within the study period from 2011-2020. Total 312 articles were published within 2011-2020, and a single author wrote 105 no of articles, two writers wrote 150 articles, 44 articles were written by three writers, and 13 articles were written by multiple writers. From the examination, it is Shaw that the single authorship pattern is most important in ALIS. Based on this investigation, it found that the average CC (Collaboration Coefficient) is 0.37, and mean DC (Degree of Collaboration) is 0.33, and mean MCC is 0.38, CAI (Co-authorship Index) is decreased from 115.56 to 66.032, and mean RGR decreasing from 0.44 to 0.09, mean DT increasing from 3.33 to 7.8 in this study period. According to the statistics, the highest activity index was recorded in 2015 for India (109.75), and the lowest AI (Activity index) is recorded in 2013(76.86). In 2013 the highest activity index was recorded for the world (281.89), and the lowest activity index was recorded for the world(23.31) in 2015and B.K Sen is the highest co-cited author between DK. Gupta, B.M Gupta, and Sengupta
ALIS: A novel metric in lineage-independent evaluation of scholars
Evaluative bibliometrics often attempts to explore various methods to measure individual scholarly influence. Scholarly independence (SI) is a unique indicator that can be used to understand and assess the research performances of individual scholars. The SI is a rare quality that most funding agencies and universities seek during funding decisions or hiring processes. We propose author lineage independent score (ALIS), a unique model to measure SI of a scholar by using his or her academic genealogy tree as the underlying graph structure. The analysis is performed on real data of 100 authors, collected from the Web of Science (WoS) and the Mathematics Genealogy Project. The analysis is further validated on a larger scale, on a simulated sample of 10,000 authors. The simulation exercise is the proof-of-concept for scalability of the metric and the proposed optimisation model. ALIS exploits genealogical relationships between scholars and their mentors and collaborating communities and constructs an influence scoring model based on the Genealogy tree structure of the respective scholars. The implications from the theoretical model are found to be profound in tracing known and recursive citation patterns among peers. The genealogy tree is used to investigate the advisor–advisee relationship and lays the foundation for defining metrics used to calculate the various indicators such as non-genealogy citations (NGCs), non-community citations (NCCs) and other citation quotient (OCQ). As these indicators/parameters are novel and thus not readily accessible, algorithms are written to compute these indicator values for the scholars under study
