Fish Theory: Gravity in a Superfluid Wave Medium
Fish Theory proposes a unified interpretation of gravitational and collective behavior — from atomic particles to galaxies — inspired by the fluid coordination of fish.
This model reimagines gravity through wave-fluid interactions, challenging traditional spacetime frameworks, and suggesting that the universe behaves more like a responsive medium than a static stage.

Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist and interleukin-1β-511 gene polymorphisms among Egyptian children with febrile seizures
Febrile seizures (FSs) are the most common form of childhood seizures. The higher levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in children may induce seizures, and alternatively, higher levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines may act as a defense mechanism against seizures. We aimed to investigate whether interleukin (IL)-1β-511 C/T (pro-inflammatory cytokine) (rs16944) and IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra) (an anti-inflammatory cytokine) gene polymorphisms could be
used as markers for prediction of susceptibility to FSs. The current study included 22 patients with FSs and 22 normal control subjects. All patients were subjected to thorough history taking, full neurological examination, electroencephalography, and peripheral blood sampling for genotype analyses.
Detection of IL-1Ra gene polymorphisms was done using polymerase chain reaction (PCR), while a restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of the PCR products was used for the detection of IL-1β-511 C/T gene polymorphisms. The mean age of onset of first febrile seizures was 15.7 months.
Eighteen (81.8 %) cases had the criteria of complex FSs. Frequencies of alleles C and T for IL-1β-511 were 26/44 and 18/44, respectively, in FS patients and 22/44 for both in the control subjects. The CC genotype was significantly more common in the FS patients than in the control group. The IL-1Ra-I homozygote was more frequent in patients with FSs than in healthy controls. The IL-1Ra homozygous I/I and IL-1β-511 CC gene polymorphisms are associated with a higher susceptibility to febrile seizures, which may be useful markers for predicting the development of febrile seizures
Awareness of stroke in adults and pediatrics among Fayoum University Hospital workers and medical students
Background: Stroke is a devastating public health problem in Egypt and it is considered the third leading cause of death in the developed countries. The hospital workers are an important source of stroke knowledge. Objective: We aim to assess the stroke knowledge among Fayoum University hospital workers and medical students. Methods: A cross sectional hospital based survey was conducted on (202) participants from Fayoum University hospital workers and medical students. They were divided into two groups: health care providers (HCPs) and non-health care providers (NHCPs) who were interviewed using a structured questionnaire on stroke knowledge in both adults and children. Results: The HCPs represented (65.8%) of the study sample, (93.6%) had knowledge about stroke while (30.7%) only knew that stroke might occur in the pediatric age group; (17.3%) knew the possible causes and only (4.5 %) were oriented that the inborn errors of metabolisms might be a cause of stroke in children. The common known important stroke risk factors reported were hypertension (65.8%); followed by obesity (58.9%), stress (55.9%), and smoking (48.5%). The main source of information was through getting contact with someone having stroke in both groups (34.6%, 21.7% respectively). Eighty five percent of HCPs and 40.6% of NHCPs might transfer the patients to the hospital as a first action seeking for proper treatment. Conclusion: A huge gap of knowledge about stroke symptoms was present between the HCPs and NHCPs indicating the urgent need for a community based stroke awareness programs
Experimental Assessment of Microbial Fuel Cells for Treatment and Nutrient Recovery from Different Wastewaters
A Master of Science thesis in Civil Engineering by Hadeer Abdalla entitled, “Experimental Assessment of Microbial Fuel Cells for Treatment and Nutrient Recovery from Different Wastewaters”, submitted in May 2022. Thesis advisor is Dr. Kazi Fattah and thesis co-advisor is Dr. Mohamed Abdallah. Soft copy is available (Thesis, Completion Certificate, Approval Signatures, and AUS Archives Consent Form).Wastewater is an abundant renewable source of nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus. However, current recovery methods require large amounts of energy and chemicals. Consequently, these processes pose economic and environmental burdens and is therefore often not implemented. Microbial fuel cells (MFC) are one of the bio-electrochemical wastewater treatment technologies that has potential for nutrient recovery as it can reduce chemicals cost while at the same time treat the wastewater and produce electricity. However, there is limited knowledge of the optimum operation mode of MFCs and the effect of the substrate on nutrient recovery. This study investigates the efficiency of struvite formation for nutrient recovery in a MFC using various wastewater substrates, such as, urine, centrate, and greywater (phase I) and different operating modes (phase II). In phase II of the experimental run the system was operated by recirculating the treated anolyte to the cathode compartment. The performance of the 700ml-volume dual-chamber cells was assessed based on electricity output, organics removal in terms of soluble chemical oxygen demand (sCOD), and struvite recovery. The highest sCOD removal efficiency of over 95% was achieved with the centrate-fed cell. The sCOD removal efficiency increased by 24% from the single operation (phase I) to the recirculation stage (phase II). The highest maximum power density generated from the urine, centrate, and greywater fed MFCs for phase I were found to be 1.7, 1.5, and 0.95 mW/cm², and 1.18, 0.82, and 0.73 mW/cm² for phase II, respectively. The urine-fed 700ml cell produced the highest struvite precipitate quantity (1.5g), followed by centrate (1.3g) and greywater (0.3g) in phase I, while the urine sample yielded 1.7g in phase II. The highest phosphate recovery efficiencies of over 55% (phase I) and 20% (phase II) were found for the cell treating urine, while efficiencies of other substrates were 36% (for centrate) and 48% (for greywater. Morphological and chemical analysis of the precipitate formed confirmed that the nutrients were recovered primarily as struvite. The results of this study verify the potential for implementing MFCs for nutrient recovery and anolyte recirculation.College of EngineeringDepartment of Civil EngineeringMaster of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE

Imaging Prophet Mohammed and the orient prototype in English biographies
From the Crusades to the present, generations of Western scholars and writers have presented and portrayed Prophet Mohamed in their writings. Many claim to be objective, while others do not hide their bias views and animosity. Many episodes from the prophetic biography were highlighted and frequently depicted in Western writings and were demonstrated in English literature as examples of the Orientals from the East to simply fit the Romanticim prototype of the Orient. Nevertheless some less bias writings and portrayal of the Prophet appear from time to time in English writings. Michel Hart\u27s ranking of Prophet Mohammed as the first of the top 100 most influential men in history is one of these examples. Hart\u27s purely secular choice was justified as he viewed Prophet Mohammed as a successful personality both as a religious and war leader. During the last two centuries, some other research based writings like those of Sir William Muir, D. S. Margoliouth, Montgomery Watt and Karen Armstrong are also considered as slightly deviant from the traditional prototype of the prophet. This paper overviews the development of the image making of Prophet Mohammed in English biographic writings. Through the lights of Edward Said\u27s Orientalism, a qualitative reading of Montgomery Watt\u27s Mohammed in Mecca 1953 and Karen Armstrong\u27s Mohamed a Prophet for Our Times 2006 are critically examined as examples
Mohamed Miloud Gharrafi, author of several collections of poems in Arabic, signed a bilingual anthology of his self-translated poems in 2014, supplemented by unpublished ones, entitled Échos lointains. He has agreed to talk with us about his practice as a writer and translator, and to present his vision of the act of translation and its relationship with creation, both in the case of self-translation and in the case of the translation of other poets, which he has experienced on several occasions. This reflection leads him to question the complex links, in poetry and its translation, between form and meaning. It also leads him to describe his relationship, both of filiation and rupture, with the Arab poetic tradition, as well as his multiple affiliations to various cultural and literary worlds
