Qu’importe donc l'ivresse tant qu'on a le breuvage : fermentation, tempérance et rituel chez les Matis d'Amazonie brésilienne
The variety of intoxication does not matter ; the important thing is the beverage : fermentation, temperance and ritual among the Matis (a tribe from the amazonian region of Brazil)
The author underlines the contrast between the soberness of the Matis and the importance they grant to the drinks whose choice is linked to the ritual environment and which accompany the essential actions of life. Maize from which they make beer is an anthropomorphic plant entering the social game in a different way according to the sex. Erikson Philippe. How to manage your translation projects -- 1
Translation project management is a topic of interest for both project managers and freelance translators alike. What information is used to prepare an accurate quote? Why is scheduling so essential in some situations? How do you guarantee that a project will be profitable? How do you recruit the right resources? What is expected from each person? The author suggests a practical approach, based on an analysis of the project life cycle, to answer these crucial questions amongst others, focusing on the particular areas that require attention in order to best complete a translation project.Translation of the French book: Comment gérer vos projets de traduction. Di-leptons at the Bevalac
Recent results on the production of di-leptons measured by the Di-Lepton-Spectrometer (DLS) collaboration are discussed. Results are reported from observations made on p /plus/ Be collisions with proton beams from 1.0 to 4.9 GeV and on Ca collisions with calcium beams of 1.0 to 2.0 GeV/A. The shape of the distributions are similar to that at higher energies. The low mass cross section appears to be explained by ..pi..-..pi.. annihilation, but detailed calculations are needed to substantiate that hypothesis. (LEN

Production of e sup + e sup minus pairs at the Bevalac
During the last several years, the Dilepton Spectrometer (DLS) collaboration has studied the production of dileptons in both proton-nucleus collisions and nucleus-nucleus collisions. This paper summaries the results of previous publications and provides a preliminary glimpse of some new data. 12 refs., 4 figs

Searches for monopoles and quarks
Within the last year, several sensitive searches for monopoles and quarks have been done. Recent experiments at the Tevatron and at the CERN p anti p collider have detected no evidence for free fractional charge. An experiment in a iron refinery, which searched for GUT monopoles trapped in iron ore with two SQUID detectors, found no monopole candidate. However, an experiment looking for monopoles in cosmic rays has measured an interesting event which could be interpreted as a monopole. Several detectors are being built to achieve significant improvements in sensitivity for detection of quarks and monopoles. 21 refs
