On the Present of Past Performance: Investigating the Practices of Reconstructing and Representing Performance Art
No full textIn this chapter, Tancredi Gusman outlines the main lines of inquiry developed in the volume Reconstructing Performance Art.. In the scholarly debate on performance art, there has long been an effort to clearly define the uncertain and shifting boundaries of this art form. The author addresses this issue but does not attempt to give a conclusive answer. Instead, Gusman argues that our view of what performance art is, is the historical product of practices that repeatedly negotiate its aesthetic and disciplinary space, determining paradigms of its production and reception. Building on this concept, the book investigates the historiographies of performance art, the role and function of performance documentation, and practices and models of archiving, collecting, and representing the works of performance art. Reconstructing performance art means examining the processes of transmission of this art form and how its works unfold over time. This is the challenge the volume outlines and for which it proposes new critical tools

Performance art emerged internationally between the 1960s and 1970s crossing disciplinary boundaries between performing arts and visual arts. Because of the challenge it posed to the ontologies and paradigms of these fields, performance art has since stimulated an ongoing debate on the most appropriate means to document, preserve and display it. Tancredi Gusman brings together international scholars from different disciplinary fields to examine methods, media, and approaches by which this art form has been represented and (re)activated over time and its transnational history reconstructed. Through contributions and case studies spanning various countries, regions and artistic fields, the authors outline an innovative theoretical-methodological framework for capturing the processes and strategies for transmitting the tangible and intangible heritage of performance art

No full textIl contributo analizza la proposta teorica di Erika Fischer-Lichte di un’estetica del performativo, esaminandone i concetti chiave e la terminologia di riferimento. Vengono illustrate le scelte lessicali e concettuali che hanno orientato il lavoro di traduzione dell’edizione italiana del volume, con particolare attenzione ai processi di trasposizione terminologica necessari al dialogo con il lessico critico degli studi teatrali italiani. Nella parte conclusiva, il saggio mette in relazione la prospettiva di Fischer-Lichte con gli sviluppi e i contributi più significativi della ricerca teatrale in area italiana, evidenziando le potenzialità di un confronto teorico e metodologico tra le due tradizioni di studio

No full textThe new species is similar to Arisaema anomalum Hemsl. but differs by the morphology of its spathe. It is placed under Arisaema sect. Anomalum Gusman & L. Gusman based on morphological and growth characters, the latter observed in the field and unique to that section.
