    When a patch is placed close to the fed patch, get excited due to parasitic coupling between the two elements. This proposed work presents theoretical analysis of rectangular gap coupled microstrip patch antenna (R-GCMSA) using circuit concept model, and the effect of gap(g), feed width (Wf), and feed length  on performance of the impedance bandwidth is also studied, it is observe as the gap between the parasitic element is increased resonant frequency shifted towards the parasitic patch resonant frequency for broadening the impedance bandwidth. The maximum impedance bandwidth for the proposed antenna design is 12.7% in the frequency range of 3.24-3.7GHz measured, with rectangular shape ground plane size 6030m.m2.the highest directivity achieved is 4dBi.The proposed design is simple in structure and compact in size, proposed design is simulated on IE3D Microwave simulator, the simulated result is in good agreement with  obtained  theoretical and measured results

    Improved Algorithms and Combinatorial Bounds for Independent Feedback Vertex Set

    In this paper we study the "independent" version of the classic Feedback Vertex Set problem in the realm of parameterized algorithms and moderately exponential time algorithms. More precisely, we study the Independent Feedback Vertex Set problem, where we are given an undirected graph G on n vertices and a positive integer k, and the objective is to check if there is an independent feedback vertex set of size at most k. A set S subseteq V(G) is called an independent feedback vertex set (ifvs) if S is an independent set and G\S is a forest. In this paper we design two deterministic exact algorithms for Independent Feedback Vertex Set with running times O*(4.1481^k) and O*(1.5981^n). In fact, the algorithm with O*(1.5981^n) running time finds the smallest sized ifvs, if an ifvs exists. Both the algorithms are based on interesting measures and improve the best known algorithms for the problem in their respective domains. In particular, the algorithm with running time O*(4.1481^k) is an improvement over the previous algorithm that ran in time O*(5^k). On the other hand, the algorithm with running time O*(1.5981^n) is the first moderately exponential time algorithm that improves over the naive algorithm that enumerates all the subsets of V(G). Additionally, we show that the number of minimal ifvses in any graph on n vertices is upper bounded by 1.7485^n

    Confirming the Minimal Important Difference of the Oral Health Impact Profile

Advisor: Mike John. 1 computer file (PDF); vi, 32 pages.Aim: This study aimed to confirm the Minimal Important Difference (MID) of Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP) in dental patients. Materials and Methods: In this observational study a consecutive sample of 1896 adult patients completed the OHIP questionnaires twice, one questionnaire before the treatment was performed and a second at follow-up about 6 months after the initial visit. At both visits, scores for the 49-item, the 14-item, and the 5-item version were calculated. In addition, at follow-up, the patients (N=199) rated the overall change in their perceived oral health using a 7-point global scale (oral health worsened very much to improved very much). For the N=36 patients reporting a “minimal improvement”, the median of OHIP change scores (OHIP baseline – OHIP follow up) and a confidence interval was computed. This value was considered the Minimal Important Difference (MID) for OHIP. It was computed for OHIP-49, OHIP-14, and OHIP-5. MIDs were also computed for females versus males, less than 60 years old patients versus 60 and older patients, and patients with lower versus higher OHRQoL impairment at baseline (split at the OHIP49 score median at baseline). Results: The MID for the 49-item OHIP was 4.5 points (95% confidence interval: -3.8 to 11.3). The same values were -1 (95% CI: -1.0 to 2.0) and 0 (95% CI: 0.0 to 2.0) for OHIP-14 and OHIP-5. We did not find a gender or age influence on OHIP-49, 14, and 5’ MID, but demonstrated an influence of the magnitude of baseline OHRQoL impairment on OHIP-5. Conclusion: The results in our study corroborate the findings in the previous research about the Minimal Important Difference of OHIP instruments. OHIP’s MID seems to be similar across settings. However, we also found an influence of the magnitude of the OHRQoL impairment, indicating that MID is not one value that can be applied across settings. Our OHIP’s MID values can be used as benchmarks to judge the clinical relevance of the changes in perceived oral health when measured with OHIP.GUPTA, AKANKSHA. (2016).     Title: We Appreciate Your Business, Not Your Abuse: Incivility by Customers Predicts Revenge Toward Customer, Author: Akanksha Bedi, Location: ThodePast research on organizational revenge has often focused on the organization or organizational members (e.g., coworkers, or supervisors) as targets of revenge behaviours. Building on Tripp et al.'s (2007, 2009) model of workplace revenge, the present study examined the influence of customer incivility on customer directed revenge behaviours. Data from a survey of 434 customer service employees suggested that incivility from customers was positively associated with the service employee's desires for revenge and actual revenge behaviours against the uncivil customer. Specifically, employees who experienced customer incivility and blamed the customer for the mistreatment were more likely to desire and engage in revenge. Empathic concern, perspective taking and organizational tolerance of uncivil customers moderated the relationship between blame attributions and desire for revenge such that individuals who empathized with the transgressor, took his/her perspective, or perceived their organization as intolerant of uncivil customer behaviours were less likely to desire revenge. In addition, empathic concern moderated the relationship between blame attribution and actual revenge behaviours such that employees who empathized with the customer were less likely to act on their blame attributions and engage in revenge. Finally, empathic concern and perspective taking moderated the relationship between desire for revenge and actual revenge behaviours but in a direction opposite of the other observed moderation effects. Specifically, employees who empathized with the customer or took his/her perspective were more (not less) likely to act on their desires for revenge and engage in revenge.     Effect of high-molecular-weight component of Cranberry on plaque and salivary Streptococcus mutans counts in children: An in vivo study

    Background: Previous investigations showed that a high-molecular-weight, nondialyzable material (NDM) from cranberries inhibits the adhesion of a number of bacterial species and prevents the coaggregation of many oral bacterial pairs. Aim: In the present study, the effect of mouthrinse containing high-molecular-weight component of cranberry was evaluated on colonization of Streptococcus mutans in children and compared it with a control mouthrinse without high-molecular-weight component on Streptococcus mutans counts. Materials and Methods: A high-molecular-weight NDM was isolated from cranberry juice concentrate after the dialysis of the cranberry concentrate; followed by lyophilization. A mouthwash was prepared especially for the study having NDM in the concentration of 3 mg/ml. Following 4 weeks of daily usage of cranberry-containing mouthwash by the children of an experimental group (n = 20), the Streptococcus mutans counts in plaque and saliva were compared with that in control group using placebo mouthwash (n = 20) with the help of Dentocult SM strips. Results: There was a highlysignificant reduction in Streptococcus mutans counts in saliva and plaque of children using mouthwash containing cranberry NDM (P < 0.05) compared to control. Conclusion: The data suggest that the high-molecular-weight cranberry extract in mouthwash has a significant potential in reducing the Streptococcus counts in the oral environment

    Refugees: A Need for a Trauma-Informed Psycho-Social Counselling Approach

    This Capstone paper analyzes the literature on the effects of trauma on refugees' mental health and offers recommendations for future counselling techniques that are rooted in trauma-informed, holistic, psycho-social, and culturally sensitive frameworks. A review of combined studies highlights the prevalence of PTSD and depression among refugees due to conflict and persecution. The linkages between pre-displacement stress and trauma-induced worldview modifications are examined along with risks of migration-related trauma, particularly those related to risky travel and separation. It is stated that xenophobia, discrimination, and systemic barriers further exacerbate trauma symptoms and social integration after migration. Along with the Polyvagal Theory's therapeutic neurological effects, the impact of trauma on brain development is examined, with a particular focus on right-brain neuroplasticity. Furthermore, the function of cortisol, the effects of hypocortisolism, and the cumulative effects of trauma on the brain processes connected with fear and functional somatic symptoms are also discussed. With respect to clinical implications for practice, interventions like EMDR and TF-CBT are considered, along with psychoeducation, moral harm, and trauma-informed approaches for the mental health of refugees. This review also emphasizes the need for further research on biomarkers, culturally sensitive interventions, strength-focused strategies, the impact of power dynamics, and technological integration in refugee counselling

    Dual-Task interference on mobility functions in healthy aging compared to Parkinson’s disease

    Background: Decline in mobility functions is common with aging and in a number of central nervous system disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease (PD). Simultaneous control of sensory-motor resources and executive cognitive functions (ECF) is required for safe outdoor walking. Such dual-task (DT) situations, especially the DT walking tasks are often associated with increased risk of falling. There is a need to establish a DT assessment protocol to test the effectiveness of DT interventions in reducing gait instability and fall risk in PD and older adults. A Computer Game-Based Rehabilitation System (GRP) has been developed for assessing balance, gait and ECF simultaneously in individuals with PD and older adults. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of age and basal ganglia pathology on the magnitude of Dual-Task Interference (DTI) on balance, gait and ECF. Methods: 31 healthy older adults (mean age, 67.5±6.9 years) were recruited for this study. This data sample was compared to an existing dataset of individuals diagnosed with PD (stage-2 and 3, H&Y scale). Dual task performance was evaluated during sponge standing and treadmill walking combined with visuospatial and visuomotor cognitive tasks. Results: A significant DTI was observed for gait and cognitive outcome measures in all groups. A significantly greater magnitude of DTI on balance, gait and cognition was found in participants with PD as compared to similar aged healthy controls (AHC). This study shows that the magnitude of DTI on pathology is more pronounced in stage 3 PD as compared to their AHC. There was no difference in magnitude of DTI between stage 2 PD and their AHC. Conclusion: GRP can be used as a screening tool to detect mobility impairments and assess fall risk during healthy aging and early stages of PD.May 202
