Bakalářská práce se zabývá objektivním posouzením nového směru v oboru psychologie, transpersonální psychologií. Představuje osobnost, názory a výsledky celoživotního výzkumu vědomí jejího zakladatele, psychologa a psychiatra českého původu, MUDr. Stanislava Grofa. Seznamuje s metodou holotropního dýchání, kterou objevil Stanislav Grof a díky níž lze dosáhnout mimořádných stavů vědomí, vysvětluje také termín psychospirituální krize. V další části práce popisuje okolnosti vedoucí ke vzniku transpersonální psychologie a mapuje její vývoj. V závěrečné části práce srovnává spiritualitu a náboženství, zmiňuje kritické názory na transpersonální psychologii a uvádí jejich možné důvody.ObhájenoBachelor thesis deals with an objective evaluation of a transpersonal psychology, which is a new direction in a field of psychology. It introduces a character, opinions and results of lifelong research in a field of consciousness of its founder, psychologist and psychiatrist of Czech origin MUDr. Stranislav Grof. It explains a method of holotropic breathing, which was discovered by Stanislav Grof, and thanks to which, extraordinary states of consciousness can be achieved. This bachelor thesis also explains a term of psychospiritual crisis. In the next part thesis describes a circumstances leading to origin of a transpersonal psychology and maps its development. Thesis in its final part compares spirituality and religion, mentions critical opinions on the transpersonal psychology and states their possible reasons

Specifically, Grof’s research provides crucial empirical evidence to settle one of the most controversial issues in the modern study of mysticism—the question of mediation in spiritual knowledge Whereas Grof interprets his findings as supporting the perennial philosophy, [I propose that] a participatory account engenders a richer, more pluralistic, and arguably more spiritually emancipatory understanding of Grof’s revolutionary discoveries that is free from the shortcomings of perennialism

The remarkable achievement of Stanislav Grof was to engage and then contribute to the great transformation of world view of our age, experiencing that paradigm crisis directly within the crucible of his therapeutic research, and eventually bringing forth both a radically expanded map of the human psyche and an extraordinarily powerful method of psychotherapy. Acting as a kind of psychospiritual midwife, Grof combined a radical openness to the mystery of the psyche and trust in the healing power of the unconscious with a willingness to explore, and help others explore, an astonishing range of non-ordinary states of consciousness. The complex, multidimensional understanding of the psyche that emerged has offered depth psychology not only a resolution of its foundational schism between Freud and Jung, but also a nuanced integration of East and West, ancient mystical traditions and contemporary science, and finally opening the innermost depths of the psyche to the cosmos itself
