Multibeam bathymetry raw data (Kongsberg EM 122 entire dataset) of RV METEOR during cruise M204

    No full text
Raw multibeam bathymetry data were collected aboard RV METEOR during cruise M204 using a 12kHz Kongsberg EM 122 multibeam echosounder. The expedition took place during 2024-09-27 – 2024-10-20 from Bridgetown (Barbados) to Las Palmas (Spain) in the Central Atlantic. The major aims of M204 Transformers III is to gain new insights into the seismic activity and geological processes at this largely unexplored plate boundary. Data were recorded outside EEZ in international waters. Sound velocity profiles (SVP) were applied on the data for calibration. Please see environmental data and the cruise report for details. The data are unprocessed and can therefore contain incorrect depth measurements (artifacts) if not further processed. Note that refraction errors may occur when no proper SVP is applied. Data acquisition was done by GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, provision of the data is supported by the DAM Underway Project and published according to the FAIR principles

Seismic refraction survey on the eastern flank of the Juan de Juca Ridge during SONNE cruise SO111

    No full text
During RV SONNE cruise SO111, five 50 to 60 km long seismic refraction and wide-angle profiles were shot on the eastern flank of the Juan de Fuca Ridge near 48°N, southwest of Vancouver Island, Northeastern Pacific. All profiles were shot in 1996 and run parallel to the strike of the spreading centre and sampled crust created 0.5 Myr to 2.6 Myr ago. In total, 24 ocean-bottom-hydrophones (OBH) were deployed to record shots fired using a single low-frequency airgun source (main source frequency of 4-12 Hz). 23 OBH provided data useful for geophysical data analyses

Multibeam bathymetry raw data (Kongsberg EM 122 entire dataset) of RV MARIA S. MERIAN during cruise MSM69

Raw multibeam bathymetry data were collected aboard RV MARIA S. MERIAN during cruise MSM69 using a Kongsberg 12kHz EM 122 multibeam echosounder with 2°x2° beam width. The expedition took place during 2017-11-14 – 2017-12-22 from Mindelo to Mindelo (Cape Verde) in the Central Atlantic. Data were recorded in the EEZ of Cape Verde and outside. MSM69 focused on two main topics: 1. studying the crustal accretion process of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge as a function of time, surveying periodicities of crustal/lithospheric formation at slow-spreading rates; and 2., revealing the structure of the uppermost lithospheric mantle, including the evolution of seismic velocity structure with age and detecting any layering and seismic properties of the mantle (including the base of the lithosphere). Sound velocity profiles (SVP) were applied on the data for calibration. Please see the cruise report for details.

Master track of METEOR cruise M170 in 1 sec resolution (zipped, 15.4 MB)

    No full text
Raw data acquired by position sensors on board RV METEOR during expedition M170 were processed to receive a validated master track which can be used as reference of further expedition data. During M170 the motion reference unit Kongsberg SeaTex AS MRU-5 combined with Kongsberg SeaTex AS Seapath 320 and two C and C Technologies GPS receivers C-NAV3050 were used as navigation sensors. Data were downloaded from DAVIS SHIP data base (https://dship.bsh.de) with a resolution of 1 sec. Processing and evaluation of the data is outlined in the data processing report. Processed data are provided as a master track with 1 sec resolution derived from the position sensors' data selected by priority and a generalized track with a reduced set of the most significant positions of the master track

Multibeam bathymetry raw data (Kongsberg EM 122 working area dataset) of RV METEOR during cruise M170

    No full text
Multibeam bathymetry raw data was recorded in the North Atlantic during cruise M170 that took place between 2021-01-11 and 2021-02-10. The data was collected using the ship's own Kongsberg EM 122. This data is part of the DAM (German Marine Research Alliance) underway research data project. In the working area a XBT sound velocity profile has been taken at the start of the survey

Multibeam bathymetry raw data (Atlas Hydrosweep DS 2 echo sounder entire dataset) of RV METEOR during cruise M62/3

    No full text
Raw multibeam bathymetry data were recorded on RV Meteor during M62/3 using an Atlas Hydrosweep DS2 multibeam echosounder. The cruise took place between 03.09.2004 - 27.09.2004 (Recife, Bazil - Mindelo, Cape Verde) in the Southern Atlantic. Data were recorded international waters outside EEZs and within the Cape Verde EEZ with an approximate average depth of around 1500m. M62/3 is aimed to study the impact of hotspot volcanism on the structure and properties of the Earth's surface, crust, and lithosphere. There is no information about sound velocity correction made. There are no extra SVP files provided in this publication. Data are unprocessed and can therefore contain incorrect depth measurements (artifacts) if not further processed. Note that refraction errors can be expected due to the lack of proper SVP. The data are archived at the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency of Germany (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie, BSH) and provided to PANGAEA database for data curation and publication. Data publication is accomplished within work package 2 of the EU Horizon 2020 project iAtlantic- Integrated Assessment of Atlantic Marine Ecosystem in Space and Time (https://www.iatlantic.eu/)
