Organization aspect
Following the BOAT framework discussed in Chapter 1, this chapter describes the organization aspect of the CrossWork approach. It shows how the business requirements identified in the previous chapter can be fulfilled by dynamic organization structures and business processes in Networks of Automotive Excellence (NoAE). It explains why business processes require explicit attention, i.e. why business process engineering is the pivotal point around which modern business management rotates. Next, based on the observations in Chapter 3, the chapter zooms in on processes for the formation of instant virtual enterprises and for their enactment (execution)
Introduction
This chapter provides a general introduction to this book. As such, it also describes the context of the CrossWork project that is the main source of information for this book. This project is introduced in the next chapter. We start below with discussing the business conditions for the raise of the virtual enterprise as an organization form in the modern economy. As we focus on process-oriented virtual enterprises in this book, we continue with an overview of developments in business process support technologies. Then, we introduce a framework with four aspects that can be used in a combined demand pull and technology push context – this framework is used later to structure topics discussed. In the last section of this chapter, we explain the structure of the book

Conclusion
In this chapter, we draw the main conclusions from the work in this book. We first summarize the analysis of the state of the art in the field. Then, we look at the potential impact from a business perspective of the CrossWork results as described in this book. Finally, we look at the benefits of using the instant virtual enterprise concept. In the next chapter, we further conclude the book by taking a look into the future starting from the contents of the previous chapters

Business process enactment
In this chapter, we discuss the business process enactment environment of the
CrossWork architecture, providing support for network business process enactment
and legacy system integration. We first discuss the overall approach to enactment,
which consists of global enactment and local enactment, supported by two
modules as described in the architecture design (see Chapter 5). Details of the
Global Enactment module are discussed in Section 8.2. The discussion of the Local
Enactment module follows in Section 8.3. As described in the architecture, enactment
is coupled to Legacy Integration. In Section 8.4, we therefore discuss the
Legacy Integration module. We conclude this chapter in Section 8.5
Business aspect
This chapter discusses the business requirements of technology to be developed
in support of VEs. It first describes new business directions that have come into
existence in the manufacturing industry like the automotive domain. Next, it treats
new criteria that have to be met by industries to become or remain successful in
new market situations. Finally, new business structures are discussed that (have to)
emerge as a consequence of the new directions and criteria
