Lungo i sentieri dell'uguaglianza matrimoniale
The article reflects on marriage equality by using as its starting point the arguments that Gianfrancesco Zanetti develops in the book "L'orientamento sessuale: Cinque domande tra diritto e filosofia" (Sexual orientation: Five questions in philosophy and law). It discusses the general theoretical issues linked to the US Supreme Court decision in "Obergefell v. Hodges", with an emphasis on the resulting partial reframing of marriage law, dismantling some of the traditional legal elements of marriage as a legal act (where "traditional" is meant in the sense of tracing back to ancient canon law). The author asks in the end whether, in following through on the recognition that all sexual orientations are valuable, we should see the need to protect not only equal marriage but also plural marriage, recognizing a right to freely decide to live one's sexuality within plural and basically stable relationships
A web analytics approach to map the influence and reach of CCAFS: Latin America Focus
Based on a Digital Methods framework developed to map the policy influence of the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) globally (Carneiro et al 2020), this study adapted the approach to focus on the Latin America regional program (LAM). The influence of CCAFS in LAM was explored through data analytics, with the application of machine learning techniques primarily focused on text mining, network analysis and hyperlink analysis of web-based sources. The foundation of this research is to assess the process of knowledge dissemination and influence of CCAFS activity to stakeholders and local beneficiaries, by considering online networks and narratives as evidence of “offline” program influence. It found that CCAFS plays a key role in raising awareness, building capacity, and supporting policy development around Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA)

Essay piece on Norman Dickinson, who served seven years in prison for kidnapping a woman from the Maine Mall parking lot in 1989. The author claims that an earlier article by Connie Pacillo published in the March 4 edition of the Casco Bay Weekly is in error. Pacillo\u27s article referred to Dickinson as a sex offender, but Dickinson did not rape the victim. Pacillo is also criticized for not writing about the virtual nonexistence of counseling services in the state\u27s prisons
How does climate exacerbate root causes of conflict in Senegal? Climate Security Pathway Analysis
This factsheet gives answers on how climate exacerbates root causes of conflict in Senegal, using an impact pathway analysis. Two main impact pathways are identified: 1) Livelihood and food insecurity in Matam and Tambacounda; 2) Fish scarcity, livelihood insecurity and recruitment by NSAGs.
This publication is part of a factsheet series reporting on the findings of the CGIAR FOCUS Climate Security Observatory work in Africa (Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Uganda, Zimbabwe). The research is centered around 5 questions: 1. How does climate exacerbate root causes of conflict? 2. Where are hotspots of climate insecurities ? 3.What is the underlying structure of the climate, conflict, and socio-economic system? 4. Are climate and security policies coherent and integrated? 5. Are policy makers aware of the climate security nexus?Factsheet 2021/3:
