EVALUATION OF A PEDAL – OPERATED CASSAVA GRATER
A pedal – operated cassava grating machine was developed and evaluated. The grater is to bridge the gap between the motorized grater and the labour-intensive, traditional cassava grating device, and to ameliorate the tedium of cassava grating at the village level. The grater’s component parts are: the grating unit, power and transmission unit, the housing, the hopper and the discharge chute. The cassava grater output capacity ranged between 28.50kg/h and 45.00kg/h depending on cassava variety. The particle size distribution in the end product representing medium fine, fine and powdery materials is 1:3:6. The grater capacity has a comparative advantage ratio of more than 220% over traditional grating device. One average person of between 25 – 45 years of age can comfortably operate the continuously for about 16 minutes to produce an output of about 4kg
Convertable Corn Sheller and Grater.
Patent for a simple and inexpensive convertible corn sheller and grater that, when shelling, can fill a receptacle without spilling or clogging. The sheller also separates dust from the corn. The grater is easily removable for cleaning
Comparative advantage of value-added services: the case of South Africa
Global supply chains have changed the way in which products are produced internationally. The inputs into a final product include both intermediate goods and services, which adds value to the final product. Gross trade data is misleading and includes some double counting. This study questions whether traditional revealed comparative advantage (rca) calculations for gross exports of services would offer different results from value-added services. rca calculation was done for South Africa and the bric countries for both gross exports and value added services. The analysis showed that some countries performed stronger in terms of gross exports than in value added terms for some sectors, but others showed higher comparative advantage in value added terms. For South Africa, most services had a higher comparative advantage in terms of value added than for gross exports. The results indicated the importance of including value added data in international trade data analysis

Tami Tanner with food grater (GCCS_BCE25568_12A)
Tami Tanner with food grater in her home in Grouse Creek, Utah, July 18, 1985. One black and white negative (1 x 2.25 inches)
Apple-grater blade manufacturing project
Antud uurimustöö käigus tutvuti erinevate roostevaba teraste lõike- ja survetöötlus
meetoditega ning rakendas neid praktilise väljundi koostamiseks. Töö käigus koostati viis
erinevat meetodit kuidas saaks toota varuosa õunapeenestile. Kõik meetodid erinevad mingil
määral üksteisest, kuid saavutavad soovitud lõpptulemuse Erinevate tootmiskoguste jaoks on
sobivad erinevad meetodid.
Töö autor selgitas välja lõikeketta tööpõhimõtte, uuris kasutamise ning tootmise takistavaid
tegureid ning võttis neid arvesse lõputöö koostamisel. Kirjandust läbi töötades jõuti viie
erineva lahendusmeetodini ning kõiki meetodeid analüüsiti ning kirjeldati nende
kasutusvõimalusi. Samuti projekteeriti abirakised ning vajalikud tööriistad erinevate
tehnoloogiate jaoks. Töö käigus saadi ka läbi viia mõned katsed selgitamaks teoreetiliselt
töötavat tehnoloogiatThis research is compiled for manufacturing a cutting instrument as a spare part for an apple
grater. The author of this paper decided to research many different technologies since it links
different subjects that the author has participated while attending Technotronics course.
People have been asking how to reproduce this cutting blade and by that creating a demand.
This research paper is a documentation for manufacturing apple grater blades in small
quantities and medium quantities. These methods can also be used with other similar
problems
A COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF HAMMER MILL AND GRATER FOR GARI PRODUCTION
An investigation was carried out to determine the comparative performance of hammer mill and grater in gari production. The grater and hammer mill were used to pulverized cassava tubers and the dewatered mash of the samples. The throughput of 1002.7 and 1440 kg/h comminution and pulverization respectively) than the grater (with a throughput of 356.7 and 42.9kg/h respectively). The sieve analysis of the pulverized mash and gari shows that hammer mill communites finer than the
grater. There is a difference in the swelling capacities of gari from both machines with that of the grater being greater than that of the hammer mill. The resulting gari products from both machines however meet the ASAE standards in terms of quality. With regards to energy use the hammer consumes more energy than the grater.
In general, the higher output of the hammer mill and the corresponding fitness of the products into the required range of standard accords it a higher potential in substituting other size reduction machines in large scale gari production
Universal Household Grater.
Patent for a new universal grater which eliminates the risk of injury the user may gain from grating materials
Bread grater
This tool was used to grate bread much more substantial than the fluffy bread of today. Bread was more easily grated with a bread grater while still fresh rather than stale and dry. Bread graters varied greatly in appearance with the most common style being a large cylindrical style with a handle at the top
