He served with the 40th Airlift Squadron and the 737th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Hope. Granata was awarded five air medals for his service. est commun à nombre de pays riches : l’arrivée de mineurs
qui se déplacent seuls, sans leurs parents. Ils proviennent
de l’Égypte, de la Gambie, du Nigéria, de l’Érythrée, mais
aussi du Bangladesh et d’ailleurs. Ils accomplissent un
périple long et tourmenté ; parfois ils se heurtent à de
graves dangers, à la prison, au désert, à la faim et à la violence.
Ils ont souvent laissé leur mère, leurs soeurs et
frères, leurs camarades...
Ces migrants se débrouillent avec l’internet, s’orientent
facilement et sont conscients de ce qu’ils ont laissé, mais
ils ignorent ce qu’ils vont trouver. Le soir, ils sont nostalgiques
: le pays natal, la nourriture coutumière, les amis
leur manquent. Quand ils ont des cauchemars ou quand ils
se sentent désemparés, personne ne console leurs profondes
angoisses. Mais ils ont aussi l’énergie et le désir d’apprendre,
propres de la jeunesse. Qui sont-ils ? De quoi
fuient-ils ? Quel univers ont-ils abandonné derrière eux ?
Que cherchent-ils en Europe ? Ont-ils choisi de partir ou
ont-ils étaient contraints de le faire

On the other hand, our knowledge comes from experience and observation of the world: we know only what we see. The Act of Looking is not only perception but is interwoven with the experience, the history and the memory of human beings, giving rise to a complex experience, where there are no rules and where to see means to be constantly surprised by something. What I see, therefore, depends also on my knowledge and on my sensitive education. A perceptive eye should be educated, in order to be able of watching and recognizing in the material forms of the city a plot composed by the rules, the history, the evolution of society, the imprint of the economy. An educated and cultivated eye can increase our vision, provided that it always knows how to surrender to surprise and emotion, leaving room for unexpected details
