Law and grace in St John Chrysostom's commentary on St Paul's epistle to the Galatians
In this dissertation an attempt is made to analyse John Chrysostom's interpretation of the crucial theme of Pauline theology: Law and Grace. Following a general introduction on Chrysostom's exegetical work, which also provides a comperehensive list of all the references to Galatians in Chrysostom's works, the theme is treated under six chapters corresponding exactly to those of the Epistle and of Chrysostom's Commentary, The particular topics emerging from this analysis include, the divine origin of both Law and Grace, the preparatory character of Law and the superiority of Grace, the explanation of the early attitude of the Jerusalem Apostles and of Paul himself to the relation of Law and Grace in contast to that of the false-brethren of Galatia, the examination of the limits and carnal character of the Law in contrast to the potency and spiritual character of Grace, the precise meaning of the superiority of Grace over the Law and, finally the connections between freedom and love with Grace. Chrysostom's doctrine is marked by richness of doctrinal nuances and on several points, as for example on "oeconomy" as a key to understanding the Apostolic approach to the theme of Law and Grace, by original insight. The overall interpretation of Chrysostom, though not radically different from the common interpretation of this Pauline theme in modern scholarship, presents certain features which are typical of Eastern Orthodox Christianity and which could be taken up with profit, not least in the contemporary ecumenical dialogue

Eva Murray, author of Well Out to Sea , has been a resident of Matinicus Island since she moved there to teach at the island\u27s one-room schoolhouse in 1987. She discusses the differences between writing from an island and writing about an island as well as her efforts to dispel some stereotypes and myths about Matinicus through her writing

On Reading Grace\u27s Potiki
In her article On Reading Grace\u27s Potiki Eva Rask Knudsen takes as her point of departure the critical impasse of postcolonial analyses of Indigenous literatures and the claim made by some (Indigenous) commentators that non-Indigenous scholars and critics often re-colonize the texts they deem to be postcolonial because — in their theoretical concern with issues of marginalization and resistance — they overlook (and so overwrite) the specific indigenous knowledges and ontologies that the literatures draw on. Through an analysis of the 1986 novel Potiki by Māori writer Patricia Grace, Rsak Knudsen looks in other directions than those catalogued by postcolonial convention. With attention to Māori storytelling procedures and Māori notions of textuality, Rask Knudsen postulates that the non-Indigenous scholar/critic may venture legitimately and purposefully into indigenous territory if the cultural signposts of that territory are acknowledged. As Potiki is structured as a narrative told within the context of a Māori meeting house (whare nui), a ceremonial site that encourages dialogue and public debate, the novel offers, by extension, a venue also for the scholar\u27s/critic\u27s encounter with indigenous difference
The second release of COST-G GRACE-FO combined monthly gravity fields
The Combination Service for Time-variable Gravity fields (COST-G) provides monthly gravity fields of the GRACE, GRACE-FO and Swarm satellite missions, which are derived by combination of the individual time-series of the analysis centers around the world. The GRACE-FO combination has been operationalized and further developed in the frame of the Horizon 2020 project Global Gravity-based Groundwater Product (G3P). A significant reduction of noise could be achieved by the adaption of the weighting scheme, the inclusion of the new AIUB-GRACE-FO-RL02 time-series, which makes use of empirical noise modelling techniques, and the use of an alternative accelerometer transplant product, which improved the determination of the C30 gravity field coefficient, important for the derivation of ice mass change in polar regions. We present the new time-series of combined GRACE-FO monthly gravity fields and compare it in terms of signal and noise content to the original RL01 combination
Obesity of Older School Age Children Based on Physical Activity and Eating Habits
TITLE: Obesity of Older School Age Children Based on Physical Activity and Eating Habits AUTHOR: Bc. Eva Lamačová DEPARTMENT: Department of Education SUPERVISOR: PaedDr. Eva Marádová, CSc. ABSTRACT: This thesis deals with the obesity of older school age children and their dependence on eating and exercising habits. The theoretical part summarizes knowledge regarding overweight and obesity, disease diagnosis, epidemiological trends and complications related to obesity. Emphasis is put on the evaluation of reasons to why this problem occurs, such as disease prevention, dietary and exercise recommendations, its therapy and inclusion of the issue with the secondary school curriculum. The practical part contains research focused on the nutritional status, eating and exercise habits of pupils in secondary school. The survey results are designed for use in pedagogical practice. Usage is targeted for obesity prevention in this age group during Physical Education and Health Education subjects. KEYWORDS: Obesity, overweight, eating habits, exercising habit
Consolidated and validated monthly gravity field combinations of the GRACE, Swarm and GRACE-FO satellite missions
The satellite missions GRACE and GRACE-FO, dedicated to the observation of the time-variable Earth gravity field, provide invaluable insight into continental total water storage, continental ice mass change and ocean mass change at spatial scales of 200-400 km and monthly time-resolution, covering the time-period 2002 to present. The Combination Service for Time-Variable Gravity Fields (COST-G) of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) collects the monthly gravity fields of its associated or partner Analysis Centers (ACs) and performs a weighted combination to provide a consolidated time-series of monthly gravity fields at Level-2 (spherical harmonic coefficients) and user-friendly Level-3 (post-processed global grids) products. Gaps in the GRACE or GRACE-FO time-series may be bridged by monthly gravity fields derived from orbits of the Swarm satellites, dedicated to the observation of the Earth magnetic field, at the cost of significantly reduced spatial resolution. COST-G performs quality control and harmonization of the contributing GRACE, GRACE-FO or Swarm time-series. The combined gravity fields undergo consistency checks and internal validation by the COST-G validation centers at GFZ and GRGS. An independent board of experts in hydrological, oceanic and cryosphere applications irregularly performs external validations. A combined re-processed GRACE time-series COST-G GRACE RL01 is available at the International Center for Global Earth Models ICGEM (L2-products) or the Gravity Information Service GRAVIS (L3-products), both operated by GFZ. The operational GRACE-FO time-series is updated regularly with a latency of less than 3 months, Swarm gravity fields are operationally combined in a quarterly processing scheme
