Microfinance Impact Evaluation: A Managerial Perspective
The objective of this concept note was to introduce Impact Evaluation and highlight its need and importance during these turbulent times. As it turns out that Impact Evaluation holds promise to a host of benefits to the MFIs ranging from consumer insights to launching of new products and services and from better reporting standards to performance measurement. It will gain further prominence in coming days as focus of various stakeholders undergoes drastic shift towards social performance and understanding the consumer behavior. Not only it will be a strategic exercise but it will be adopted as a risk mitigation tool for identifying loopholes and appropriate measures to plug them.Microfinance, Impact Evaluation,

ABSTRACT
In this paper, we have suggested rectifications in differential cryptanalysis of ultra-lightweight block cipher PRESENT reduced to 16 rounds. We have shown that proposed differential attack by Wang [3] on 16 round PRESENT can recover at the most 30 subkey bits, although the author has claimed to recover 32 bits of subkey for last two rounds. We have also computed data complexity and success probability for recovering 30 subkey bits accordingly by the differential attack on 16 round PRESENT.

The forties are very significant in Bengali literature. The partition, riots and the crisis of refuges life are reflected in every form of literature. The impact of partition and ritos is reflected a little more in the stories. The brutality of the riots, violence and hatred, and the pain of partition have been reflected in the writings of many story taller’s. Manoj Basu is one of the few storytellers who embodied the riots and partition in the pens of the fortis and fifties. Compassion for the homeland and relatives, that is, the people, is the main feature of Manoj Basu\u27s literature. Just as there is a thorough picture of how public life was disrupted in the Hindu-Muslim riots and the partition after independence. Manoj Basu\u27s stories also show the picture of people coming together, forgetting the memories of the riots and partition. The riots created districts between the two Nations, Hindus and Muslims, and partition increased it. Therefor after partition, communal classes and unrest increased even more. storyteller Manoj Basu has sympathetically portrayed the people in danger during riots and partition in his stories after independence. And so we see the harmony of Hindu-Muslim relations in his stories. He believed that oneday all the darkness would pass, the storm would stop and light would shine again, all the unrest would end. That is why he has faith in people and he wanted to protray that in his stories. In stories like \u27Hindu Muslim Danga\u27, ‘Dangar Ekti Kahini\u27, ‘Dangar Daag\u27, ‘Hindu Muslim’, ‘Simanta\u27, ‘Epar Opar\u27, ‘Tanter Maku\u27 etc. The author has protrayed the picture of Hindu Muslim relations during the riots and partitions during the contemporary and post partition period with experience. His stories have become an intertextual account of Hindu Muslim relations. Manoj Basu wanted to show the good heart of a person can never die. Even if riots and partition temporary separate people, it can never be permanent. When the fire of hatred and jealousy dies down, faith in each other returns because people always stand by each other losing faith in people is a sin— this message of hope is echoed in Manoj Basu\u27s stories

Engineering a Smart Scarecrow bird deterrence with drones
Cherry, grape, and blueberry growers lose around 80 million dollars annually to bird damage in the state of Washington state alone. Growers of a wide range of crops have a critical need for a safe and cost-effective method for persistent bird deterrence, which would lead to significantly reduced production costs. The goal of this research is to build a completely autonomous Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) to deter birds from the blueberry fields. The objective of this thesis is to propose a method to use an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to deter birds from the farms. In the effort to build an autonomous system using UAV, the most vital part of its implementation is the vision system. The primary objective is to test a successful system for bird detection and then build a stereo vision system to estimate the distance of the birds, the distance can further be used to intercept the birds using UAVs. In order to do bird detection, background subtraction algorithms have been used and performances of various background subtraction algorithms is measured. It is found out that ViBe, a background subtraction algorithm performs best in the bird detection scenario providing an accuracy of 63.1% in terms of bird detection. In the quest of improving the bird detection speed and obtaining it in real time, a split window technique is used to improve the detection speed by 12.6%. In order to estimate the distance of the detected bird, a unique approach of a stereo vision system is proposed and compared with other methods to estimate the depth measure. In the quest of basing stereo vision system as a tool for bird distance estimation a prototype stereo vision system’s accuracy is determined. With this system an accurate measure of distance of the object is done up to 7 meters with an error accuracy of 30 centimeter. The long-term goal is to combine the efforts of the thesis to successfully create a completely autonomous Smart Scarecrow that can safely, effectively and reliably scare and deter birds
A rare presentation of aspergillus infection as empyema thoracis
A 57-year-old diabetic and hypertensive man presented with a short history of fever, dry cough and right side chest pain. A chest radiograph showed right pleural based homogenous shadow in middle and lower zones with obliteration of right costo-phrenic angle suggestive of right side effusion. Aspiration of pleural fluid revealed frank pus for which inter-costal tube drainage was performed. Due to persistence of empyema, the patient was subjected to thoracoscopy. Thoracoscopy showed multiloculated empyema. Thoracoscopic pleural biopsy and fluid showed septate fungal hyphae. Thoracotomy and parietal pleurectomy, with resection of part of right lower lobe, was carried out. Pleural fluid, pleural and lung tissue culture grew Aspergillus fumigatus. The patient showed good recovery with voriconazole after thoracotomy
Corporate Governance, Competition and Firm Performance: Evidence from India.
The aim of this paper is to show the interaction effect of product market competition and corporate governance variables on firm performance. While the linkage between internal governance mechanism and firm performance is well established in several studies, the interaction between internal and external governance mechanism has received scanty attention in emerging market economies. Here we have shown the independent and interaction effect of ownership and competition variable on firm productivity. Contrary to conventional wisdom, we document that competition has in reality become a discernible force in developing economies. The econometric modelling result shows while the standalone effect of ownership variable on productivity is mostly insignificant, there is a strong positive interaction effect with competition variables.
Key Author Analysis in Research Professionals’ Relationship Network Using Citation Indices and Centrality
AbstractIn social network analysis, the importance of an actor can be found by using the centrality metrics. There are many centrality metrics available e.g. degree, closeness, betweenness, eigenvector etc. In research community authors forms a social network, which is called Research Professionals’ Collaboration Network. This is similar to social network where each author is an actor and an article written together by some authors establishes collaboration between them. Each author acquires a certain value based on the citation of their articles. There are many citation indices are available such as citation count, h-index, g-index, i10-index etc. To analyze the Research Professionals’ collaboration Network and for finding the key author, the citation indices can be used. In this paper, we compare and combine both social network analysis metrics and the citation indices to get better result in finding the key author
