Discriminative GoDec+ for Classification
© 1991-2012 IEEE. GoDec+ is a robust low-rank representation model, which adopts correntropy to model noise and corruptions. To extend GoDec+ for classification, this paper proposes discriminative GoDec+ (D-GoDec+). In the model, each class is represented by a shared underlying subspace and a specific transformation matrix. Structural label information and the Fisher discrimination criterion are incorporated to model the reconstruction errors and coefficients. An efficient solution to D-GoDec+ is proposed based on half-quadratic optimization, and convergence of the solution is rigorously analyzed. Based on D-GoDec+, a simple but effective classification method is presented by combining the discriminability of reconstruction errors and coefficients. Through the use of transformation matrices, the classification method avoids complex encoding computation in the dictionary represented methods and thus is very efficient. Experimental results on face recognition, object classification, scene classification, and action recognition demonstrate the advantages of the proposed model
Single-file diffusion in a bi-stable potential: Signatures of memory in the barrier-crossing of a tagged-particle
We investigate memory effects in barrier-crossing in the overdamped setting. We focus on the scenario where the hidden degrees of freedom relax on exactly the same time scale as the observable. As a prototypical model, we analyze tagged-particle diffusion in a single file confined to a bi-stable potential. We identify the signatures of memory and explain their origin. The emerging memory is a result of the projection of collective many-body eigenmodes onto the motion of a tagged-particle. We are interested in the “confining” (all background particles in front of the tagged-particle) and “pushing” (all background particles behind the tagged-particle) scenarios for which we find non-trivial and qualitatively different relaxation behaviors. Notably and somewhat unexpectedly, at a fixed particle number, we find that the higher the barrier, the stronger the memory effects are. The fact that the external potential alters the memory is important more generally and should be taken into account in applications of generalized Langevin equations. Our results can readily be tested experimentally and may be relevant for understanding transport in biological ion-channels
Faster uphill relaxation in thermodynamically equidistant temperature quenches
We uncover an unforeseen asymmetry in relaxation: for a pair of thermodynamically equidistant temperature quenches, one from a lower and the other from a higher temperature, the relaxation at the ambient temperature is faster in the case of the former. We demonstrate this finding on hand of two exactly solvable many-body systems relevant in the context of single-molecule and tracer-particle dynamics. We prove that near stable minima and for all quadratic energy landscapes it is a general phenomenon that also exists in a class of non-Markovian observables probed in single-molecule and particle-tracking experiments. The asymmetry is a general feature of reversible overdamped diffusive systems with smooth single-well potentials and occurs in multiwell landscapes when quenches disturb predominantly intrawell equilibria. Our findings may be relevant for the optimization of stochastic heat engines

STRESS LAID THE WEAK SIGHTED ONES
V diplomski nalogi so obravnavane otrokove pravice in pravice otrok s posebnimi potrebami, predvsem slepih in slabovidnih otrok.
Najobširneje so v zadnjem delu obravnavani slepi in slabovidni otroci. This thesis discusses children´s rights and the rights of the children with special needs, in particular the blind and visually impaired children.
The issue in question is divided into three parts. In the first part, the author debates upon children´s rights in general, focusing mainly on the international legal regulation of children´s rights.
In the second part, the author deals with the children with special needs. Firstly, according to various national provisions she defines the term ´child with special needs´ in great detail. In addition, the author states international legal acts addressing this issue, and puts a special emphasis on the rights originating from different national provisions.
In the last part, the main focus of the author is on the blind and visually impaired children. She states the definition of blindness, a historical development of the blind and the development of a child´s sight. The most frequent children´s sight impairments are stated and the author also presents different approaches to deal with the blind and visually impaired child. The most important question according to the development of the blind or visually impaired children, i.e. the early overall treatment, is investigated as well. At the end, the author refers to the rights of the blind and visually impaired students by carrying out two interviews, added to this thesisone with a blind student and the second one with a visually impaired student of theology

Culture-historical and Linguistic Development of the Šentjernej Municipality
Diplomsko delo skuša prikazati zgodovinski, kulturni in jezikovni razvoj občine Šentjernej v različnih kulturnih obdobjih. Predstavljene bodo njegove naglasne značilnosti, samoglasniški in soglasniški sestav govora in izvor posameznih glasov. Pri oblikoslovni ravnini govora pa bodo predstavljene narečne posebnosti štirih besednih vrst, tj. glagola, samostalniške in pridevniške besede in prislova.Diploma portrays the historical, cultural and linguistic development of the Šentjernej municipality in different cultural periods. I described the lives of people, their habits, customs, folk tradition as well as material and immaterial creations. Topics which are presented in detail are: architectural, building and ethnological heritage and also educational establishments along with their cultural role in the area. The thesis continues with the descriptions of people who have made important contributions in the development of culture, language and the town itself and have played a major part in creating a unique cultural and linguistic community. Different cultural and ethnological societies have been established in the municipality in order to preserve and expand cultural heritage and folk tradition for the younger generation. Members of the societies became the locals, who are proud of their past and enjoy recreating folk culture. The story of each society is also included in the work. The importance of each society in preserving the local speech and their contribution to cultural activities in the town has also been researched. The significant part of the folk tradition in the municipality is also the Šentjernej speech which has strongly marked the cultural events in the town. Slovene dialectology classifies it into the eastern Lower Carniolan subdialect, which is a part of the Lower Carniolan dialect group. The thesis presents the characteristics and features of the dialect on the vocal and morphological level. Its accentual attributes, the vowel and consonantal structure of the speech and the origin of certain sounds were also looked into. The morphological level of the dialect is featured by four parts of speech: verb, noun, adjective and adverb
