Single shot laser writing with sub-nanosecond and nanosecond bursts of femtosecond pulses

    No full text
AbstractA method is proposed for efficient laser modification of fused silica and sapphire by means of a burst of femtosecond pulses having time separation in the range 10–3000 ps. Modification enhancement with the pulse separation increase in the burst was observed on the tens picoseconds scale. It is proposed that accumulated transient tensile strain in the excitation region plays a crucial role in modification by a sub-nanosecond burst.</jats:p

Laser writing with sub-nanosecond burst of femtosecond pulses using strain accumulation

    No full text
Femtosecond laser direct writing and micromachining attract considerable interest for a variety of applications ranging from integrated optics and microfluidics to printable flat optics and multi-dimensional optical data storage. A regular train of femtosecond pulses generated by femtosecond oscillator or regenerative amplifier does commonly used in laser material processing. Micromachining with sub-microsecond bursts of femtosecond pulses has been applied for morphology control of structures generated via accumulation and regulation of a heat deposition [1,2]. In addition to heating a pressure wave and rarefaction in the modified zone are important factors determining the laser induced structural changes [3]. However there is a lack of laser processing experiments with a burst exploiting accumulation of the rarefaction

    An Overview of Economics

I assume that your objective of ’Economics 101’ is to try to understand how the economy works instead of going through an economic curriculum. If so you are guaranteed to have fun. I personally undertook a similar journey ten years back. I would say that it is better to understand the principles of economics and then try to understand the economy/economic situation of any given country. My recommendations (for BSc students and everyone who is interested in economics101) are based on my own readings: Sloman’s ”Essentials of economics;” Gwartney et al. ”Economics: Private Public Choice;” Jesus Huerta de Soto’s ”The Austrian School: Market Order and Entrepreneurial Creativity;” Rodrik’s ”Economics Rules;” Foley’s ”Adam’s fallacy: a guide to economic theology;” De Soto’s ”The mystery of capital: Why capitalism triumphs in the West and fails everywhere else;” Harford’s ”The Undercover Economist;” Levitt and Dubner’s ”Freakonomics.”This Paper should not be reported as representing the views of Central Bank of Armenia. The views in this paper are those of the author and should not be interpreted as those of Central Bank of Armenia

Plato’s Gorgius: an attempt to an axiological commentary

    No full text
In his new paper Sergey S. Avanesov (Tomsk State University) analyses the concepts of ‘intermediate’ being, ‘preference’ and the hierarchy of values developed in Plato’s dialogue against the background of Classical moral philosophy. This study of Ancient axiology continues a previous article by the same author, also published in this journal (vol. I, issue 2)

The article is devoted to the novel of Sergey Samsonov – The Kamlayev Anomaly. The focus is on the issue of a creative man and his creations. The author maximizes the notion of creative work, going beyond the limits of the sphere of music and bringing it to the sphere of life itself. Samsonov is trying to analyze the state of being of the 21st century human and the cause of human spiritual crisis. Samsonov\u27s writing is considered in the context of the new realism. The Latest Version of Circumstances and Cause of Death of Sergey Yesenin. From Order to Exhumation

    No full text
The article presents the latest version of circumstances and cause of death of Sergey Yesenin. It should be seen as an edition as well as addition to the recently published monograph Murder of Sergey Yesenin. Criminalistic, Historical and Literary Study (Szczytno 2009), where the primary version of the poet’s murder was depicted. The following revised version reveals some new figures which were directly involved in the tragic death of Yesenin, i.e. Iosif Stalin as the initiator or Georgy Ustinov and Vasily Nazarov as the executors of that perfidious deed. The author projects a plan of the plot, a calendar of the last days and hours of Yesenin’s life, brings out unknown facts and hypotheses which prove a planned homicide committed by members of Soviet secret police (Joint State Political Directorate) and, therefore, disqualify the official version of suicide
