Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (GEP NENs). The Role of Checkpoint Inhibitors
Background: The treatment options for GEP-NENs include various drugs and are based on grading, morphology, and location of the primary.
Objective: The aim of our work is to investigate the clinical impact of new immune checkpoint inhibitors in order to define a new possible strategy of use within GEP-NENs.
Methods: A scientific literature search from 2015 to January 2020 was performed using PubMed and Embase: reviews and prospective or retrospective studies with a minimum of twenty patients were selected; conference proceedings were included.
Results: Several studies have been conducted to assess the role of immune checkpoint inhibitors in NENs, but nowadays, the current knowledge in this field is mainly based on phase I-II studies. Immunotherapy showed limited antitumor activity, but a higher response rate was reported in poor-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors. No specific biomarkers were identified for patient selection and response assessment.
Conclusion: Immunotherapy appears as a powerful possibility to help our patients, but nowadays, we see many gaps in this field. We must balance therapeutic possibilities offered by precision oncology with an understanding of the limitations of the application of testing and treatment in clinical practice. Future efforts should focus on research of the best patients to a candidate for immunotherapy in terms of disease characteristics and previous treatments and how to select them with accurate biomarkers

Fluids in Equilibrium and Hydrodynamics
Teaching fluid mechanics applied to undergraduate and graduate students of STEM disciplines has traditionally been a difficult task for the teacher. It connects to the use of more or less complex mathematics, computer science, and numerical methods. In this chapter, after a brief discussion about the development of pedagogical approaches to introduce students to fluid mechanics from 1950 to today, we discuss some relevant examples of Physics Education Research (PER) literature pieces related to teaching and learning specific aspects of fluid mechanics. The aim is to understand how PER has contributed to our current knowledge in that field, how it has evolved in terms of methodologies used, methods of validation of teaching/learning sequences (TLSs) and pedagogical tools proposed, analysis of student conceptions, learning in this subject, etc. Mainly, we discuss examples from the PER literature focused on
i. Common student ideas on basic concepts of fluid mechanics;
ii. Mathematical tools to resolve essential problems in fluid mechanics and facilitate the learning of
the related concepts;
iii. Computational tools for fluid mechanics;
iv. Novel and creative ways of introducing fluid mechanics to students;
v. Understanding surface phenomena
The paper aims to present a short fragment of a vernacular poetry manuscript (end of 14th c.), found in codex Lat. Z 478 (= 1661) of Venice's Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana. In particular, the author studies the contribution of this unknown witness to the text of the canzone Io guardo i crespi e i biondi capelli by Fazio degli Uberti, in the light of the stemma codicum Lorenzi had drawn in his recent critical edition of Fazio's poems (Pisa, 2013). Furthermore, the author examines the text transmitted by the Marcian codex of the pseudo-Boccaccian canzone Subita volontà, nuovo accidente. The essay is followed by the critical edition and by the commentary (focusing on linguistic, philological and literary aspects) of two unpublished sonnets
A new educational approach to surface tension and Young-Laplace law by using computer-based simulations
Here we present a pedagogical approach to surface tension phenomena based on a novel mesoscopic fluid model. We show that computer simulations based on this model can provide quantitative results that are consistent with experimental results. We simulate the formation of a two-dimensional liquid droplet without gravity and obtain its surface tension as a result by also verifying Young-Laplace's law. By controlling some simulation parameters, students can understand step by step how some physical quantities (e.g., the intensity of the interaction between two fluid particles) can affect the behaviour of fluids. This approach will provide students with an explicative model of surface phenomena
«Il mio scrittore preferito». Arthur Schopenhauer e Balthasar Gracián
This article presents the relationship between Schopenhauer and Balthasar Gracián (1601-1658), author of Oraculo manual y arte de prudencia (1647) and Agudeza y arte de ingenio (1648), and examines the reasons why Schopenhauer described Gracián as his favourite author
