Paraphidnia Giglio-Tos, 1898 Diagnosis. Vertex with laterally flattened crest (Figs. 27C, F). Antennae nodose, scapus and sometimes pedicellus armed with a tubercle. Pronotum smooth and devoid of tubercles (Figs. 27A,C,F). Sub-ocular region with cuticular evaginations. Wings projecting at an angle of 40–45 degrees upward. Ventral spines of middle tibia lamelliform. Abdominal tergites dorsally produced and with pointed tips (Fig. 27E). Viticulture at ‘Giglio Isle’: opportunity and sustainability.
The objective of this work is to analyse the actual situation of viticulture practiced at ‘Giglio Isle’, a small island of the Tyrrhenian sea, considering the unfavourable condition of cultivation, due to presence of small terrace on slopes, the lack of road of communication and to close and long path for transportation of equipments to cultivate the vineyards and the grapes harvested. Viticulture at Giglio island has an old tradition, represented for the population an alternative activity to fishing dedicated, how demonstrated by traces of ancient civilization and rest of local excavated stone containers (‘Palmenti’) to press the grapes. The poor soils and the water scarcity during summer have determined particular conditions in which only few grapevine varieties were cultivated. ‘Ansonica’, a white variety cultivated from centuries which wines have rendered famous this Isle. The cultivation of grapevine is today at risk of extinction because the high cost for labour and the low income which can derives from this activity, the fragmentation of the property, slopes, disease, parasites, including virus infection found during a clone selection project of ‘Ansonica’. The results obtained from this work ended with homologation of four new clones of Ansonica having different characteristics which could allow viticulturists to plant a polyclonal vineyard and satisfy agronomic and oenological requirements

Miobantia Giglio-Tos 1917
Miobantia Giglio-Tos, 1917 Terra (1995) considered Metathespis precaria Piza (1968 a) as a synonym of Chloromiopteryx thalassina. Examination of the type specimen of M. precaria (deposited at ESALQ) (Fig. 2 f, g, i) reveals that it is referable to the genus Miobantia. Furthermore, comparison of the type’s genitalia with those of other Miobantia species confirms that M. precaria is a junior synonym of Miobantia rustica (Fabricius, 1781) (cf. our Fig. 2 f and Fig. 22 in Scherrer 2014). Accordingly, Metathespis precaria is removed from synonymy with Chloromiopteryx thalassina and placed in synonymy with Miobantia rustica. An updated list of synonyms for M. rustica follows: Miobantia rustica (Fabr., 1781) Mantis rustica Fabr., 1781 = Miopteryx perloides Saussure, 1869 = Miopteryx nebulosa Giglio-Tos, 1915 = Metathespis precaria Piza, 1968 n. syn. Scherrer (2014) provided a detailed revision of Miobantia.Published as part of Agudelo, Antonio A. & Rivera, Julio, 2015, Some taxonomic and nomenclatural changes in American Mantodea (Insecta, Dictyoptera) — Part I, pp. 335-356 in Zootaxa 3936 (3) on pages 339-340, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3936.3.2, http://zenodo.org/record/23904
