Las "chicas malas" de la mitología rumana. La supervivencia de las "iele" (I) - Una estructura mitológica recurrente

    No full text
El texto está en el idioma rumano y el resumen en inglés.A very beloved myth in Romania has as its central figure a group of women, called 'Iele', fairies who make their appearance during summer nights or even on the night of Saint John, in a forest clearing, and dance around the fire. Folklore portrays them as forest spirits who can bewitch those who surprise them by dancing, causing them to lose their judgment and / or modifying their physical appearance. The present study is the result of the common research interest of the two authors on this topic. In the first part of the study, the authors propose a detailed survey in the area of Romanian folklore and mythology interested in this topic with complex mythological and symbolic meanings. The article gathers important information from the relevant literature (L. Șăineanu, S. Fl. Marian, T. Pamfile, A. Gorovei, M. Olinescu, R. Vulcănescu etc.) and it also briefly analyzes the way in which the mythological elements and legends about the summer fairies called 'Iele'were capitalized in literary fiction and poetry signed by Romanian writers. A summary version of this article was presented at The Scientific conference 'Dialogue of cultures between tradition and modernity', XXI edition, organized by the Department of Philology and the Center for Philological Research and Multicultural Dialogue (CCFDM), "1 Decembrie 1918" University of Alba Iulia, RomaniaDepto. de Biblioteconomía y DocumentaciónFac. de Ciencias de la DocumentaciónTRUEpu

Povești „vechi” în haine „noi” – o lectură a romanului Cruciada copiilor de Florina Ilis

Focusing on the success of Florina Ilis’ novel The children’s crusade, this article explores its potential as a literary contribution in a broader global discourse, as it could be considered “literary Romanian capital” in a discussion about world literature. While the book draws on clichéd stereotypes of Romanian society from the early 2000s, including the Ceaușescu era and the challenging transition from communism to democracy, the author uses a universal language of trauma. This allows for a wider audience to engage with the themes presented in the novel. Thus, her story becomes part of a global collection of works exploring the theme of the “children’s crusade” (including George Zabriskie Gray, Marcel Schwob, Lucian Blaga, Jerzy Andrzejewski, Thea Beckman, Gregory J. Rinaldi, Karleen Bradford, Kathleen McDonnell, Bryce Courtenay, Mario Vargas Llosa, Tullio Avoledo, amongst others). Considering the connection between continuity and innovation in Romanian literature, 75 years following Lucian Blaga’s play, with the same title, Florina Ilis employs a plot with medieval roots in her novel, which has fascinated writers worldwide, to deliver a unique perspective, in a new discourse

Landmarks of Theatrical Art in Romanian Folk Culture

    No full text
The paper aims to offer a synthetic perspective upon the dramatic genre in the Romanian folklore. We present several preliminary elements within a short historical account of the dramatic manifestations; afterwards we create an inventory of the forms of theatrical arts, following the first historical records, a description of the rituals and props in order to depict the folk syncretism and all its beauty. The working instruments are those offered by historiography and the methodology in the field as well as the ethnographic description. Although less consistent than the folk poetry or epic, folk theatre contributes to the complexity and flavour of Romanian folklore. The unseen mechanisms of syncretism have functioned and are still functioning, generating new forms of folk art. The laic and the religious, the traditional and the modern, the epic and the drama, the masks, the dances as well as the costumes and the props – all these contribute to the survival of this particular folk genre. Moreover, being the least discreet of all Romanian folk genres, the folk theatre represents also an element of attraction and cultural export nowadays.41215252Studia Romanica Posnaniensi

Assessment Strategies of Academic Performances used in University. Ascertaining Study

AbstractThe comprehensive significance of evaluation is that of a complex psycho-pedagogical act of establishing the relevance and value of benefits, performances, behaviors, processes, etc., by comparing them to a system of performance indicators, i.e. pre- established criteria and standards. Trying to establish the relationship between the results obtained in the instructive- educational process and the desired one through formulating operational objectives, the assessment strategies are the component of educational action that validate, respectively confirm or deny the achievement of performances followed in instructive-educational activities. In the present study, we aim to identify which are the assessment strategies used particularly in universities to assess students’ academic performance. To do this, we have conducted an ascertaining study and applied in the 2011-2012 academic year, a semi-structured interview to students from the Faculty of Mathematics Informatics, Department of Mathematics, to a total of 72 subjects. The interview consisted of 10 questions relating to the evaluation methods used in the university. For illustration, we present and analyze the responses obtained to 5 of the interview questions. Analysis of feedback from students shows that most often are assessed by written evaluation methods, i.e. examinations during the examination period, 83.3% of answers, and the practical assessment method is used in 9.7% of cases, and the oral evaluation method in 5.6% of cases. The written evaluation method is preferred by teachers probably due to the large number of students of a department or faculty. Students consider this method as an objective evaluation because it measures exactly the level of knowledge and skills acquired. Following the study and analysis of psycho-pedagogical, we plead rather for an ongoing evaluation, and not a final one, thus eradicating the paradoxical situations, the grades expressing the quality and degree of improvement achieved by the students, thus adjusting continuously their effort in learning, reducing the gap between the volume of taught knowledge and the amount of assumed skills and competences. In checking the knowledge it is appropriate to focus on the development of student thinking by requiring reasoned answers, based on logic, trying to give a formative content to the moment of checking

The syntheses of linear and star-shaped bis- and tris(ferrocenyl) derivatives of benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]dithiophene and benzo[1,2-b:3,4-b′:5,6-b′′]trithiophene are achieved through one-pot CuI/TMEDA-catalyzed (TMEDA = tetramethylethylenediamine) multiple annulations of bromoethynylbenzenes with sodium sulfide. In addition, the preparation of the parent benzotrithiophene in a good yield with a short reaction time is achieved through the threefold annulation of 1,3,5-trifluoro- Introduction Benzo[b]thiophene (BT, Scheme 1) and its derivatives are an important class of fused thiophene compounds owing to their wide range of biological properties[1,2] and various applications in materials science.[3] Scheme 1. Fused thiophene compounds: benzo[b]thiophene (BT), benzo- [1,2-b:4,5-b′]dithiophene (BDT), and benzo[1,2-b:3,4-b′:5,6-b′′]trithiophene (BTT). In particular, (multi)thiophene fused aromatic compounds are attracting interest as promising electronic materials for organic conductors,[4] organic light-emitting diodes,[5] photovoltaic cells,[6] and field-effect transistors.[7] For this reason, thiophene- based π-conjugated oligomers have been investigated widely as organic semiconductors.[8] Recently, much effort has been focused on benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]- dithiophene (BDT) and benzo[1,2-b:3,4-b′:5,6-b′′]trithiophene (BTT, Scheme 1) as potential π cores for a new class of organic semiconductors as they contain two or three identical thiophene moieties with C2h or C3h symmetries that enable twoand three-dimensional molecular extensions. The computed structural and electronic features of these ferrocenyl derivatives as well as their UV/Vis spectra and electrochemistry are discussed, and the results provide insights into the effect of the presence of three rather than two ferrocenyl units. To the best of our knowledge, 2,5,8-tris(ferrocenyl)benzo[1,2-b;3,4-b′;5,6-b′′]trithiophene is the first organometallic complex containing benzotrithiophene

Learning Situations within an Informal Context: Case Study (Ethnology and Folklore Course)

    No full text
AbstractThe informal framework could be identified as an accompanying tool to be used for the higher-level education, in particular when it comes to specific disciplines that, on account of subject matter and technique, entail a pragmatic side at the same time. One case specific case refers to the discipline Ethnology and Folklore, included in the syllabus of the first-year students in Philology. Handling the pedagogic activity based on proficiencies clearly highlights the practical dimension of study, the usefulness of the benefits of study for individuals and community. This is the reason why it appears helpful to produce/confront/generate the benefits of learning in an informal framework away from the formal context provided by the academic environment and the course proper that would represent additional configurations to provide in order to acquire information on substance and proficiencies. Pragmatic aspects are also underlined for the importance of the practical course, such as possible future work places or extracurricular activities to museums, expositions etc. Against this background, the concept of a partnership between the university and the Association TRADITION GROUP, that was founded in 2005 and deals with durable social, cultural/artistic and tourist advancement of the rustic settlements and horizontal groups in the Alba County appeared to be a manner of enhancing the capacity of students to attain knowledge about the folk culture in substance and intellectually as well. The essay departs from an abstract standpoint represented by the specialized literature and continues with illustrating the practical activities conducted during discussion groups that were organised alongside the lecture on Ethnology and Folklore throughout a six-month term. We detail some examples of activities with a complex character, without underlining the concentric principle of the entire process

This is divied into two parts: in part a some of the beliefs of the four mystics mentioned above arc pointdc out, analying the concept of piosity as well as the positive and the negative aspects of worship ans religious devotion. In part b some of the most glorious works of those four mystics who belong the same school arc pointed out. At the end a conclusion is provided concerning the pioneers of this school and the method they had adopted in their practice. Generally speaking, in this section the worldviews of these pioneers are introduced by referring to their works; attempts have been made to prove that these grest people saw nothing but God in the world. Attempts have also been made to prove their vicwpionts and hence their optimism and beliefs in existenc

Enhanced Nanocellulose Production from Cotton and Textile Waste Using Binary and Ternary Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents

    No full text
The growing accumulation of textile waste poses significant environmental challenges, as only a small percentage of materials is currently recycled. However, cotton waste offers a valuable feedstock for the regeneration of cellulose and nanocellulose (NC). This study presents a sustainable and efficient method for producing NC from textile waste using both binary and ternary natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs). By treating cotton wool, pre-consumer standard cotton fabrics, and post-consumer denim textiles, with NADESs, NC generation is achieved in high yields (up to ≈90%) in all cases. The most promising NADESs, composed of choline chloride and gallic acid (and tartaric acid), effectively dissolve cotton-based materials when subjected to heating and sonication, producing cellulose nanocrystals with length ranging from 100 to 300 nm and crystallinity level up to ≈80%. The NADESs are characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), as well as modeled by density functional theory (DFT), to investigate their hydrogen bond network. Eventually, their recyclability is also investigated. This approach opens promising applications in the fields of sustainable nanomaterial production and textile recycling, providing a greener alternative for waste valorization and promoting circular economy practices. © 2024 The Author(s).
