    George Adams was born in Coke County, Illinois on September 20, 1861. He attended the University of New Hamshire, graduating with a bachlor of science degree. He also graduated from Boston Conservatory of Music. He married Kate Forest in 1887 in Washington D. C. He was a lieutenant in the signal corps and was assigned to Fort Duchesne. They cane to the Uinta Basin in 1889 and took a liking to the Ashley Valley. Upon resigning his commission they moved to Vernal and opened a small merchantile. He served at the Superintent of Schools. He was a talented musician and organized the Adams Cornet Band in 1890 or 1891 which included about 24 members. He was known as a prominent merchant, banker, stockman and musician. He died on December 15, 1944 in the Uintah County Hospital of pneumonia and is buried in the Vernal Memorial Park
