    The images of the eight pages speech given by George B. West to his fellow Pioneer Club members of Newport News businessmen conained a description of Newport News, Virginia itself as well as its farms and familie prior to, during and after the U.S. Civil War 1861-1865. George's Father Parker West was the owner of Newport News Farm which was the primary location of Union Army Camp Butler and the Confederate POW camp just after the war ended. Farm owners mentioned are John Simpson, George M. Bates, William Smith, William Ivy, Edward Parrish, Jack Parrish, Captain William J.
