Alternative Muslim modernities: Bosnian intellectuals in the Ottoman and Habsburg Empires
The Habsburg takeover of Ottoman Bosnia Herzegovina (1878–1918) is conventionally considered the entry of this province into the European realm and the onset of its modernization. Treating the transition from one empire to another not as a radical break, but as in many respects continuity, reveals that the imperial context provided for the existence of overlapping affiliations that shaped the means by which modernity was mediated and embodied in the local experience. Drawing on Bosnian and Ottoman sources, this article analyzes Bosnian intellectuals’ conceptions of their particular Muslim modernity in a European context. It comparatively evaluates the ways in which they integrated the modernist discourse that developed in the Ottoman Empire and the broader Muslim world, and how they also contributed to that discourse. I show that their concern with modernity was not abstract but rather focused on concrete solutions that the Muslim modernists developed to challenges in transforming their societies. I argue that we must incorporate Islamic intellectual history, and cross-regional exchanges within it, to understand southeastern Europe's past and present, and that studies of Europe and the Middle East need to look beyond geohistorical and disciplinary divisions.Peer reviewe

Towards combining the innovation ecosystem concept with intermediary approach to regional innovation development
Research and development is becoming a global phenomenon implemented on a purely collaborative basis. This leads to the need to search for partners, resources and ideas outside the company. Active development of information and digital technologies in the international practice has promoted gradual emergence of new forms of innovation intermediaries, which have not yet been applied in Russia. We suppose these new forms could be successfully implemented into the Russian innovation ecosystem. The present research is devoted to searching ways to unite the innovation ecosystem concept with the theory of innovation intermediation, emphasizing specific types of innovation intermediation and fundamental mechanisms thereof, supporting incentives and the role in an innovation ecosystem. The research results may be implemented into managerial practices in order to improve and increase the innovation feature and competitiveness of regional innovation systems of the Russian Federation and of concrete enterprises in particular
Neo-institutional approach for regional economic development : the impact of sociocultural determinants
Purpose: The aim of this article is to analyze neo-institutional approach for regional development by identifying the impact of sociocultural determinants at regional level. Design/Methodology/Approach: For regional economic development, it is required to identify sociocultural factors that contribute to (or impede) the innovative economic development of the regions by highlighting regions in which sociocultural factors will rather contribute (or rather impede) innovative development. Findings: To take account of the influence of sociocultural factors on the effectiveness of institutional transformations, a system of indicators has been developed, evaluating sociocultural characteristics and behavioral attitudes of economic agents in a certain region. Practical Implications: The author developed recommendations before starting the process of institutional changes in a specific regional innovation system. Practical Implications: The article formulates recommendations on the implementation of institutional changes in the region taking into account the sociocultural characteristics of the region's population. Originality/Value: Sociocultural background is very important in terms of fine-tuning the process of institutional in regional level. As such it can be used for changes and to determine the specifics of their conduct in the regions of the Russian Federation.peer-reviewe
Regional economic resilience: bibliometric analysis of the research
The problem of ensuring the resilience of regional economic systems to shocks and upheavals has become especially urgent in recent years. The conceptual approach that forms its theoretical basis remains vague and inconsistent, primarily due to the complexity and multifaceted nature of this issue. This necessitates further research aimed at deepening the understanding of the regional resilience phenomenon through the formation of a knowledge structure model of this problem field. The purpose of the work is to identify key aspects and current directions for the development of the concept of regional economic resilience based on the method of bibliometric analysis. The methodological basis of the study was the method of bibliometric analysis combined with network analysis methods. The empirical basis of the study consisted of publications on the topic of regional economic resilience downloaded from the international scientometric database Web of Science. The instrumental basis for the analysis included VOSviewer program, version 1.6.20. During the first stage of the study, the author identified the dynamics of research interest in this topic for the period from 1995 to 2023, the most cited authors and their country affiliation. At the second stage, keywords in this subject field were analyzed, which made it possible to determine the most relevant aspects of studying the problem of regional economic resilience. In addition, clusters of keywords that form individual scientific directions within the analyzed issues were visualized. Analysis of the connections of individual keywords made it possible to identify the factors of regional sustainability most often analyzed by researchers (economic specialization/diversification of the regional economy, institutions, entrepreneurship, innovation, and others). The results of the study expand the understanding of the conceptual approach to regional economic resilience by presenting a holistic view of the problem, identifying and summarizing the various approaches of the authors, and presenting the structure of knowledge in this problem field. Economic resilience is seen not only as the ability of an economy to withstand shocks and recover quickly, but also as the ability of an economy to adapt to constant environmental and social changes. Sustainability is the result of the interaction of internal and external key participants in regional economic systems (economic entities, decision makers, representatives of society), in conjunction with the internal structure of the regional economy and regional potential (resources and human capital)

Deux ou trois choses que l'on sait de lui
Two or Three Things We Know About Him.
In 1977, Jacques Lefrere found an Iliad in Spanish which contained a statement of ownership by Isidore Ducasse, Count of Lautréamont, which reveals possession of another book. Its analysis, combined with a remarkable synthesis of the criticism, provides great insight in locating the work — and the author, to some degree.
This essay focuses on Dante’s references to Livy in Convivio IV.v, 11 as well as on some particularly important references to the Roman historian in the second book of the De Monarchia. The author argues that the first reference is most likely derived from the epitome compiled by Livy’s abbreviator Florus, and shows how it is placed at the beginning of a passage that refers to several different historiographical sources, including Agustine. The author therefore suggests that this reference to Livy in the Convivio is not based on Dante’s direct knowledge of the work of the Roman historian, but rather on the information contained in the synthesis by Florus. She also challenges the scholarly consensus on this
topic by showing that some references to Livy in the De Monarchia – especially the “programmatic” one in II.iii, 6 – do not appear in the indirect tradition and can only be traced back directly to Livy. This suggests that Dante likely accessed the work of Livy before the composition of his political treatise
