No full textIn recent times the excavations of the Italian Archaelogical Mission in Hierapolis of Phrygia (Pamukkale -Turkey) have focused on two main areas: the central sacred area, including the temenos of Apollo and the adjacent Plutonium, attested by several ancient literary souces; and the the slopes of the hill that bordered the urban centre to the east, where a church was built, incorporating a first century CE tomb. From the second century CE onwards the tomb was venerated as that of the Apostle Philip. The present article illustrates a document from the temple of Apollo, concerning supplications of slaves, and a titulus pictus from the church of Saint Philip

No full textThe article reviews the epigraphic evidence for the presence of citizens of Laodikeia on the Lykos in Rome, trying to highlight their social status and, if possible, the reasons for their presence in the political centre of the empire. Meaningful is the presence of people of ancient Roman-Italic origin settled in Asia Minor who arrived in Rome displaying their eastern identity, but in several cases also Roman citizenship
