Literary Non-Naming: An Onomastic Dictionary of Contemporary Polish Prose
No full textMagdalena Graf proponuje w swej monografii nowy model onomastyki literackiej jako dziedziny inter- i transdyscyplinarnej, otwartej i znajdującej oparcie we współczesnej refleksji literaturoznawczej. Poddając analizie sferę onimiczną polskiej prozy postmodernistycznej, uzmysławia tekstocentryzm rzeczywistości znajdujący manifestację także w badanych onomastykonach. Nowe czytanie literatury to także nowe podejście do zawartych w niej onimów, o czym przekonuje Autorka, wskazując, że – paradoksalnie – ponowoczesny onomastykon literacki to często jego „brak”, zaprzeczenie istoty nazwy własnej, jej reinterpretacja, podanie w wątpliwość, ale także pewna onomastyczna redundancja i otwartość klasy onimów obecnych w prozie współczesnej. [...] Doniosłość teoretyczna i metodologiczna ustaleń zawartych w monografii polega na twórczej weryfikacji wcześniejszych założeń onomastyki literackiej, która podejmowała kwestie przede wszystkim właściwe dla prozy realistycznej. Magdalena Graf dostarcza nowego instrumentarium do badań onomastycznoliterackich – holistycznego, choć otwartego, popartego dogłębnym doświadczeniem tekstu, ale też gotowego na dalsze zmiany zachodzące we współczesnej kulturze. Erudycyjność i subtelność analiz, wiarygodność wniosków, konsekwencja wywodu współwystępują tu z dużą wrażliwością na piękno i złożoność literackiego słowa, co także stanowi o walorach tej przełomowej dla onomastyki literackiej monografii.This monograph focuses on analyzing literary proper names in the latest Polish prose works. The author situates this research in a broad context (i.e. analyzes both
proper names and their lexical neighborhood) by using the theoretical findings of literary theory, philosophy and cultural studies, which allows her to investigate
concepts such as namelessness and multi-nameness as well as the name-related picture of the literary city, chrematonymy and onymic intertextuality. The assumed
interdisciplinarity of the analyses as well as the increased importance of context and of the reader's perspective made it possible to create a modem theoretical
model of literary onomastics
