No full textEdizione sistematica dei materiali provenienti da un santuario di altura sul Monte Altare nei pressi di Vittorio Veneto (TV). I materiali provengono in parte da raccolta di superficie ed in parte da scavo sistematico, ma consentono di ricomporre il panorama di un luogo di culto della tarda epoca della romanizzazione (fine III-inizi I sec. a.C.), frequentato a livello stagionale sia sui percorsi della transumanza-alpeggio sia lungo direttrici rilevanti dal punto di vista militare. Si offre un inquadramento tipo-cronologico e storico di bronzetti di armati, lamine, oggetti di ornamento, elementi dell’instrumentum e reperti fittili. Particolare attenzione è dedicata alla documentazione di sortes in bronzo che consentono di identificare un luogo di culto a carattere divinatorio e di inserirlo nella geografia oracolare del Veneto preromano

No full textSecond harmonic generation (SHG) is used to monitor the reorientation a dopant chromophore in slightly entangled poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). The effect of charge and temperature on both the decay and the much less studied onset modes of SHG signal at temperatures above the glass transition has been examined. At variance with the theoretical predictions, it is shown that the onset and the decay times are not coincident. An isothermal experiment above the glass transition shows a lengthening of relaxation time of the decay mode due to successive poling process, which is ascribed to charge memory effects. in contrast, the latter do not affect the onset characteristic time. The effect of temperature above the glass transition on dopant rotation and polymer relaxations has been also examined. As temperature increases the relaxation times of both the onset and the decay modes decrease. If the surface charge and the charge memory effect are erased, the decay time compares quite well with the structural relaxation time. Differently, the onset time exhibits a partial decoupling. Role of the density in the crossover region of o-terphenyl and poly(vinyl acetate)
No full textThe coupling between the reorientation of molecular probes and the density in one low-molar mass glass former [ o-terphenyl (OTP)] and one polymer [poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc)] is studied in the Goldstein's crossover region where the structural (alpha) and the secondary (beta) relaxations bifurcate. The coupling is found to be strong in OTP and virtually absent in PVAc. The probes sense both the alpha and beta relaxations, and locate their splitting accurately. It is concluded that the density affects the relaxation occurring in the crossover region of OTP but not of PVAc at subnanometer length scales. The findings are compared with recent assessments of the role of the molecular packing close and above the glass transition temperature T(g)
