The statistical skills of Italian graduates in the labor market test · This paper analyses the difference in placement output between graduates in Statistics and others. In particular we focus our attention on the difference in socio-economic and labour market characteristics of graduates having specific skills in method and approach in Statistics, and graduates who during their university courses studied Statistics (almost 10% of hours of their subjects). Data are driven from The AlmaLaurea Graduates’ Employment Status, monitoring of graduates’ access to the labour market within 1 year and 5 years after graduation. It is a very important tool for evaluating the effectiveness of the academic system and for assessing the attitude of the labour market towards graduates. The analysis shows that the graduates in Statistics have better results in terms of placement, income, and are less affected by mismatch than the others graudates

Periodically, the school and university education system reflects on the underpopulation of the intake in the educational system (see documents from the National University Council starting from the academic year 2004, and The State School in Summary, starting from the academic year 2009/2010). The quantification of the phenomenon and its evolution in terms of the behavior of students and graduates are of considerable importance, as the intake and dynamics cause significant socio-economic effects in our country, already afflicted by a territorial North-South dualism at all levels, including education and employment

This work draws on two major surveys on young people conducted by the Toniolo Institute and the Bobbio Study Center at the University of Turin on a national sample in 2020, with a follow-up in 2023. The findings of the latter were published in 2023 in the book La Giovane Italia. In addition to the two surveys focused on young people, other more specific and sectoral studies from various observatories, organizations, associations, and consortia will be referenced throughout, in order to address some methodological and substantive questions: Who are young people today, and what does it mean to be young? What profile emerges of young people living in Italy in 2024

Abstract · Statistics to measure beauty · We would like to point out an experimentation performed in an italian school in the first year of a Professional School in Palermo (Fashion course).A lot of ideas, such as beauty, proportionality, perfection can be found in many professional subjects and also in basic ones (Maths, Italian language, English language, Sciences, etc.). We tried to adapt [email protected] (E-learning basic Maths) materials and methods “L’uomo di Vitruvio” (Bartolomei et al., 2010), to a professional school. This didactic activity, organized by the Maths teacher, involved other three teachers and lasted for 50 hours, not taking into account the planning and presentation to the class. The chosen methodologies were : brainstorming, problem solving, cognitive activity, individual and group works, lab, interactive and frontal lectures. The assessment of the experimentation provided the teachers’ evaluation (based on the products and the acquired skills) and the students’ self-evaluation. To conclude, we would like to show the results in learning statistics of two groups of students : the first is the group of students following the experimentation, the second one is a group of students learning statistics without the experimentation (Bartolomei, Giambalvo, 2015)

The aim of this book is to analyze the performance of some Italian universities during a pre-crisis period and an economic crisis period, on the basis of graduate characteristics and graduate placement statistics. The Electre model is used to produce eighteen university rankings according to three different scenarios (Neutral, University and Job), three different roles ascribed to the key criteria (overeducation and mismatching), and two years corresponding to two postgraduation placement sampling surveys carried out in a pre-crisis period (2006) and during a crisis period (2011). The eighteen rankings are based on Economics/Statistics and Political & Social Sciences graduates. The rankings vary both according to the different scenarios considered and graduate characteristics. Some differences are noted between the two fields of study
