Phaneroptera rentzi Divya & Senthilkumar 2020, sp. nov.
Phaneroptera rentzi sp. nov. Fig. 1—a, i, j, o; Fig.2 —A–N, Diagnostic characters: Male ( ♂ ). Body yellowish green. Fastigium vertices scapus wider, apically narrow with obtuse, a fine median sulcus (Fig. 2C), strong pigmentation on the dorsal side of fastigium as well as the entire pronotum (Fig. 2B, D); anterior margin of pronotum flat, posteriorly concave; tegmen surpassing the hind wing, dorsally flat, clear wing venation, cerci of male strongly bent inward behind the sub genital plate (Fig. 2K), apex of cercus strongly acute with short and stout black spine (Fig. 2M and Fig. 1a), subgenital plate strongly bifurcate, incurved (Fig. 2 J and Fig. 1j). This species is named in honour of Dr D. C. F. Rentz, Australia. Discussion. The new species is completely differs from P. spinosa, P. myllocerca, P. falcata and P. gracilis on the structure of subgenital plate, supra anal plate, pronotum and fastigium vertices. P. rentzi, sp. nov. is entirely differ from the P. spinosa, P. myllocerca and P. falcata by the shape of cerci and subgenital plate. P. gracilis and P. rentzi, sp. nov. are look-alike however, the subgenital plate is entirely different (Fig. 1j, m). The lateral lobe of pronotum deeper than long, without white band; fairly and smoothly rounded not forming angle with disc, sharp emargination at posterior end of insertion. Subgenital plate bilobate at the apex. Distal lobe of subgenital plate not smoothly rounded but pointed. Apex of the cerci abruptly bent inwards. Design of mini phantom and measurement of cobalt-60 beam data parameters
Low cost mini phantoms were fabricated indigenously with different water equivalent material such as polymethyl methacrylate and Bee′s wax of different shapes (with dome top surface and flat top surface). The beam parameters of the Co-60 machine, such as head scatter correction factor (S h ), phantom scatter correction factor (S P ), total scatter correction factor (S C,P ), collimator exchange effect were measured. Output ratio measurements were taken for both mini phantom and water phantom for different square and rectangular field sizes. Normalized output ratios were compared with ESTRO published values and (Storchi and Van Gasteren) S and G data. The percentage of variation between the measured and the literature values is about 0.7%. Collimator exchange effect were measured for water and mini phantom for different field size, were compared with ESTRO value. This was found to be 0.5% and 1.0% respectively. Phantom scatter correction factors were calculated for square and rectangular filed sizes; this was compared with ESTRO values, found to be 0.7% for square and 1.0% for rectangular filed size. It was also noted that there were no appreciable variation observed in ion chamber readings of different materials of mini phantoms for dome and flat surfaces. Mini phantom measurements were done for all types of phantoms and the measured values were compared with the existing data and they were in good agreement with the published values
Influence of the ion size on the stability of the smectic phase of ionic liquid crystals
The thermotropic phase behavior of ionic liquids and ionic liquid crystals based on novel N-alkyl-3-methylpyridinium halides, trihalides and dichloroiodates was experimentally studied by polarized optical spectroscopy (POM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) as well as by molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. In the experiments, the existence and thermal range of stability of the smectic phase of these ionic liquid crystals are found to strongly depend on the volume ratio between the cation and anion, that is their relative size. Only compounds with a relatively large volume ratio of the cation to anion, i.e., those with longer cationic alkyl chains and monoatomic halide anions, have a stable smectic A phase. Both melting points and clearing points increase with such a ratio. The MD simulation results qualitatively agree very well with the experimental data and provide molecular details which can explain the experimentally observed phenomena: the stronger van der Waals interactions from the longer alkyl chains and the stronger electrostatic interactions from the smaller anions with a higher charge density increase the stability of both the crystal phase and the smectic phase; this also prevents the ionic layers from easily mixing with the hydrophobic regions, a mechanism that ultimately leads to a nanosegregated isotropic liquid phase
Entomopathogenic Fungi for the Management of Calopepla leayana on Gmelina arborea
Entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae were isolated and identified as natural pathogens of Calopepla leayana. Both the species of fungi were effective against the larval and adult stages of C. leayana causing white and green muscardine diseases respectively. It was also found that B. bassiana was more pathogenic to the pest as compared to M. anisopliae. The susceptibility of larvae and adults was negatively associated with the age and positively associated with the fungal spore concentration. In all the stages from I instar to adult, the highest mortality was observed in 10% of 1x109 spores/ml concentration of B. bassiana among 1, 2.5, 5 & 10% of 1x109 spores/ml concentration. It was also reflected in probit analysis that the concentration of spores required to kill fifty percent of the population was ranges from 0.09% to 5.98% of 1x109 spores/ml concentration of B. bassiana and 1.02% to 9.72% of 1x109 spores/ml concentration of M. anisopliae. The larvae of I instar have shown highest mortality, which gradually decreased with the increase in age or decrease in the concentration of fungal spores. Mass production of B. bassiana using different substrates was attempted to harvest ample amount of spores. This study revealed that spore production was directly proportional to the mycelial weight and incubation period. Methylobacterium gossipiicola sp. nov., a pink-pigmented, facultatively methylotrophic bacterium isolated from the cotton phyllosphere
A pink, aerobic, facultatively methylotrophic, motile, Gram-negative rod, designated Gh-105T, was isolated from the phyllosphere of cotton from Coimbatore (Tamilnadu, India). 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed clearly that the isolate belonged to the Methylobacterium cluster. Strain Gh-105T was most closely related to Methylobacterium adhaesivum AR27T (99 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) and Methylobacterium iners 5317S-33T (97.5 %). The isolate grew with C1 compounds such as methanol and dichloromethane, but not with formaldehyde, formate, methylamine, trimethylamine or methane, as sole carbon sources and carried mxaF, which encodes methanol dehydrogenase and supports methylotrophic metabolism. The major fatty acid was C18 : 1ω7c and the G+C content of the genomic DNA was 64.2 mol%. Physiological and biochemical data and DNA–DNA relatedness with M. adhaesivum KACC 12195T and M. iners KACC 11765T revealed clear phenotypic and genotypic differences. For this reason, we propose that strain Gh-105T ( = CCM 7572T = NRRL B-51692T) represents the type strain of a novel species, with the name Methylobacterium gossipiicola sp. nov.</jats:p
Arachidicoccus rhizosphaerae gen. nov., sp. nov., a plant-growth-promoting bacterium in the family Chitinophagaceae isolated from rhizosphere soil
Three nov.l bacterial strains, designated Vu-144T, Vu-7 and Vu-35, were isolated on minimal medium from rhizosphere soil of field-grown cowpea and subjected to a taxonomic study using a polyphasic approach. Cells of the strains were Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, non-spore-forming, coccoid rods, and formed non-pigmented colonies. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gen. sequences revealed that strain Vu-144T was affiliated with an uncultivated lineage of the phylum Bacteroidetes. Its closest phylogenetic neighbour was the recently described sp.cies Niastella populi, a member of the family Chitinophagaceae, with just 90.7% sequence similarity to the type strain. The only isoprenoid quinone detected was menaquinone 7 (MK-7). The fatty acid profiles showed large amounts of iso-C15 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 3-OH and iso-C15 : 1 G and minor amounts of summed feature 3 (C16 : 1v7c and/or iso-C15: 0 2-OH), C16 : 0 and other fatty acids, allowing the differentiation of the strains from other gen.ra. The G+C content of the gen.mic DNA of the three strains ranged from 43.1 to 44.3 mol%. In addition to phosphatidylethanolamine, the major polar lipids were three unidentified aminophospholipids (APL1-APL3), two unidentified phospholipids (PL1, PL2) and three unidentified lipids (UL1-UL3). Biochemical test patterns also differed from those of Niastella populi and members of other gen.ra. All three isolates showed plant-growth-promoting properties, e.g. the ability to produce indole-3-acetic acid and NH3 and to solubilize phosphate, utilized 1-aminocyclopropane 1-carboxylate (ACC) as a sole source of nitrogen and possessed the ACC deaminase enzyme. The nov.l isolates readily colonized roots and stimulated growth of tomato and cowpea under glasshouse conditions. Inoculated plants showed a 45-60% increase in dry matter weight with respect to uninoculated controls. On the basis of the evidence from our polyphasic study, isolate Vu-144T represents a nov.l gen.s and sp.cies in the family Chitinophagaceae, for which the name Arachidicoccus rhizosphaerae gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. Leifsonia soli sp. nov., a yellow-pigmented actinobacterium isolated from teak rhizosphere soil
Two yellow-pigmented, Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, motile, short rod-shaped bacteria were isolated from natural teak tree rhizosphere soil and their taxonomic positions were determined by using a polyphasic approach. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strains TG-S248 T and TG-S240 formed a distinct phyletic line within the genus Leifsonia. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis of strain TG-S248T with sequences from Leifsonia shinshuensis DB 102T, L. poae VKM Ac-1401T, L. naganoensis DB 103T, L. aquatica DSM 20146T and L. xyli subsp. cynodontis JCM 9733T revealed pairwise similarities ranging from 98.7 to 99.1 %. The major fatty acids were anteiso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C17 : 0 and iso-C 16 : 0. The G+C content of the DNA of the type strain was 69.4 mol%. DNA-DNA hybridization experiments revealed low levels of DNA-DNA relatedness (32% or less) between strain TG-S248T and its closest relatives. Based on differences in phenotypic and genotypic characteristics, strain TG-S248T (=LMG 24767T =JCM 15679T) is designated the type strain of a novel species of the genus Leifsonia, for which the name Leifsonia soli sp. nov. is proposed.open

The present study examines the publication pattern of Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) during 2005 - 2019 using Web of Science (WOS) database from Clarivate Analytics. 632 articles were published during the study period, more number of articles published in 2019 with 94 (14.87%) and highest number of papers published in physical review letters journal which havs more h-index (567), average annual growth rate of CMI publications was 18.48. Researchers are interested with joint authorship rather than solo authorship pattern. Arun K G is the most prolific author with 94 records and USA is the top collaborative country for CMI with 164(25.95%) records
