Efficient Supply Chain Management: Traceability and Transparency
The development of SCM systems is a difficult activity, since it involves integrating critical business flows both within and among participating companies. The inherently difficulty of the problem is exacerbated by the business constraint (that almost invariably applies in the real world) that the investments made by individual companies throughout the years must be preserved. This maps to major design constraints, since SCM systems must be built around the preexisting ICT infrastructures of the individual companies and- A lso importantly-without affecting the local policies. We propose a federation-based approach to seamless and effective integration of legacy enterprise information systems into a unified SCM system. The proposed solution is implemented using a combination of Open Source BPM and cloud computing platform, and validated with respect to a real world use case taken from a research activity (namely: The GLOB-ID project) conducted cooperatively by academic and industrial parties
Redesign of Supply Chain in Fashion Industry based on Strategic Engineering
This paper proposes the innovative approach of Strategic Engineering to Fashion Industry in order to redesign the Supply Chain of Medium Size Enterprises active in high quality Made in Italian women's footwear and how this innovative approach could support enhancements and improvements over multiple target functions. The paper introduces the approach and proposes the framework as example of how combining Modeling and Simulation, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics in closed loop with real data it could be possible to support Decision Makers in re-engineering processes and redesigning business models even in Small Medium Size Enterprises devoted to high quality production. APPLICATION OF BLOCKCHAIN IN INTEROPERABLE SIMULATION FOR STRATEGIC DECISION MAKING
The study aims to develop an innovative system solution by creating a digital twin that combines virtual prototypes, mathematical models and simulation environments. The paper focuses on the case of a new UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) devoted to operate within hot metal industries. The digital twin supports both the UGV engineering as well as the redesign of the industrial procedures and plant components. The authors address the development of the heating/cooling system able to guarantee UGV reliability within a wide spectrum of operative modes in the complex environment of industrial plant. The digital twin allows to evaluate how the vehicle configuration, boundary conditions and interactions with other plant components affect the UGV systems and subsystems performance. The complexity of interactions and factors requires extensive use of simulation
Infrastructures protection based on heterogeneous networks
This paper presents a modelling approach for mapping cyber defence issues with respect to heterogeneous networks; the research is devoted to develop an agent-driven simulation environment able to analyse this problem considering different layers including CIS capabilities, operational issues, system architecture, management processes and human factors. The paper analyses a specific case study to validate and verify the proposed modelling approach; the scenario is focused on a heterogeneous network applied to an extended maritime environment including autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), sensors, platforms, vessels, satellites and relevant military assets and threats. The present document uses this case study as example of system of systems to be simulated including cyber warfare issues to evaluate their impact on operations
