No full textThrough the analysis of some important recent publications on the subject of relations between Islam and Russia in the post-Soviet era, it is illustrated how, mostly in the years of Vladimir Putin's presidency, perceptions about Muslims in the Russian public sphere have undergone a significant evolution. In particular, it emerges that Muslims, much more actively than in the past, participate in the construction of Russia's new identity, starting from a variety of theological, ideational and practical positions. It follows that it is of great importance, in the analysis of current Russia and its orientations, to take into account how conceptualizations of Islam and of Muslims contribute to the definition of Russia's geopolitical self-image and, ultimately, affect Russian state domestic and foreign policies

No full textIl libro riguarda la storia ucraina fra il 1921 (Pace di Riga, fine del conflitto polacco-sovietico) e il 1956 (avvio della destalinizzazione). Il lavoro prende l''avvio da un''analisi della sistemazione post-bellica dell''Europa orientale, in cui i territori "rivendicati" dagli Ucraini (in base al progetto, maturato fra ''800 e ''900, di un''Ucraina unita ed indipendente) si trovarono inseriti in vari Stati, quali Polonia, Romania, Cecoslovacchia, Unione Sovietica. Si sono seguite le vicende legate ai vari contesti, le dinamiche interne ed internazionali che riguardarono quei territori nel periodo interbellico, per giungere alla Seconda guerra mondiale ed alla sistemazione geo-politica che ne uscì. Nel corso del lavoro sono state affrontate questioni che sono oggetto di intenso dibattito a livello storiografico, ma anche politico, che concernono soprattutto la Polonia e l''Unione Sovietica.
