Some Remarks on Calabi-Yau Manifolds
The article under review can be regarded as an announcement of or supplement to results in forthcoming papers of the author and his collaborators concerning quintic threefolds, the Dwork pencil, and its natural generalization to higher dimensions [G. The tautological ring of spin moduli spaces
We introduce the notion of tautological ring for the moduli space of spin curves. Moreover, we study some relations among tautological classes which are motivated by physics. Finally, we show that the Chow rings of these moduli spaces are tautological in low genus

These alterations result in mutations that tell different stories while preserving the recognizability of the original meme. Image memes are particularly popular because they are easy to create and engaging. Mathematical memes represent mathematical mutations of image memes and hold an educational potential by facilitating learning and stimulating students’ creativity. However, the integration of mathematical memes in the classroom challenges the traditional educational paradigm, which can pose difficulties for teachers. This study presents the Triple S framework, a semiotic tool for understanding memes. By analysing data from experiments conducted with students of various grade levels, the study aims to demonstrate how this framework can be employed in research to investigate students’ cognitive processes, as well as in teaching to design activities involving mathematical memes
Chern classes of the moduli stack of curves
Here we calculate the Chern classes of \overline{\mathcal M}}_{g,n}, the moduli stack of n-pointed genus g curves. In particular, we prove that such classes lie in the tautological ring
Quotients of Hypersurfaces in Weighted Projective Space
In [2] 2009 some quotients of one-parameter families of CalabiYau varieties are related to the family of Mirror Quintics by using a construction due to Shioda. In this paper, we generalize this construction to a wider class of varieties. More specifically, let A be an invertible matrix with non-negative integer entries. We introduce varieties XA and MA an weighted projective space and in, respectively. The variety turns out to be a quotient of a Fermat variety by a finite group. As a by-product, XA is a quotient of a Fermat variety and is a quotient of XA by a finite group. We apply this construction to some families of CalabiYau manifolds in order to show their birationality

[Monocular ocular bobbing].
The ocular bobbing phenomenon consists of involuntary, abrupt, usually conjugate, brisk downward eye movements followed by a slow return to midposition; it is most often observed in cases of coma due to pontine vascular lesions. In the patient reported here, with a coma after basilar thrombosis, the movement was initially conjugate and subsequently limited to one eye, as described by SUSAC and coworkers under the heading "monocular bobbing" in 1970. The movement was increased in amplitude and frequency by labirintine caloric stimulation as well as by non specific manoeuvres like neck skin pinching and visual stimulation. Post-mortem examination showed a large ischaemic infarction of the pons, of the middle cerebellar peduncles and of the white matter of one cerebellar hemisphere
