The aim of this study was to investigate the presence and distribution of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and substance P neuropeptide (SP) in the intramural nervous structures of the reticular groove in the suckling lamb. Tissue sections were stained by immunohistochemical methods. NOS and SP-immunoreactive nerve cell bodies and fibers were found in the entire extent of the reticular groove. Nitrergic neurons and fibers were more numerous in the ventral part of the reticular groove, in particular in its floor. SP-immunoreactive nerve fibers and cells, on the contrary, were more concentrated in the lips of the reticular groove

Headache and Dural Enhancement: Two Case Studies of Different Treatable Pathologies
Background: Hypertrophic pachymeningitis (HP) and spontaneous intracranial hypotension are different treatable diseases, which should promptly be recognized and treated to prevent neurologic sequelae. Headache and dural enhancement are the main features of both diseases, thus differentiating between these 2 conditions can be difficult. Cases Description: We present 2 cases with headache and dural enhancement, in which the differential diagnosis was challenging at presentation because, in both cases, clear positional pain modification was not reported. Each patient was referred to us with the suspicion of a diagnosis actually affecting the other one. Based on further findings, which supported diagnosis of spontaneous intracranial hypotension in the first case and of HP in the second one, we briefly review clinical, radiologic, and laboratory features, which can help in the differential diagnosis. Conclusions: An accurate diagnostic workup is mandatory to distinguish among HP and intracranial hypotension
Identification of Dogiel Type II neurons in the sheep enteric nervous system
The aim of the present research was to characterise the main neuronal types of the sheep ileum and to verify the presence of Dogiel type II cells in the MP and SMP plexus of the sheep ileum by immunohistochemical reactions applied on whole-mount tissue preparations. The Dogiel type II cells were distributed in both MP and SMP and showed immunoreactivity for ChAT, Calbindin, Substance P, Neurofilament 68kD and Neuronal Nuclei
