Freund-Wolff Family Collection 1882-1986
The collection contains numerous documents related to the Freund-Wolff family including marriage and birth certificates, correspondence, material regarding the family book shop, restitution paperwork, photocopied photograph of the Beuthen synagogue, and paperwork regarding the fate of family members lost in the Shoah. There is also a family tree compiled by Dr. Hans Wolff.Mrs. Gerda Wassermann,Hermann Freund owned a book shop in Beuthen, which opened in 1876. He married Laura Wolff in 1886 and had a daughter, Margarethe in 1892. Hermann Freund died in 1909. Laura Freund along with Ludwig Alexander and Rosa Freund, her brother and sister-in-law, were deported to Theresienstadt and Auschwitz in 1942 and perished.
