[Petition to King George II from Benjamin Franklin].
Petition of Benjamin Franklin on Teedyuscung's complaint, presented February 1759. It seems very ill from Mr. [illeg.] that delay of satisfaction is dangerous when the papers [illeg.] not yet laid before His Majesty after appeal [illeg.] but wish for the appointment they [illeg.] Header: To the King's most excellent Majesty in Council. The humble petition of Benjamin Franklin, Esq. agent appointed to the Assembly of Pennsylvania. In the past, the Indians were willing to sell land to the English and retreat westward. They were not deprived of land without their consent and they were paid for it. Later, when they felt aggrieved, they violently attacked the settlers. It was hard to get them to explain their anger, but finally there was a Council to make a treaty. The Indians decided they wanted your Majesty to review all the deeds, etc. to decide the bounds and limits of the lands sold to the English, so please use your great wisdom to do just that. Signed, Benjamin Franklin
