Hester in 1901.Biographical/Historical Note: A general warranty deed is a type of deed where the grantor (seller) guarantees that he or she holds clear title to a piece of real estate and has a right to sell it to the grantee (buyer). The guarantee is not limited to the time the grantor owned the property -- it extends back to the property's origins

(1) Letter from Ira R. [Roe] Foster at Gadsden, Alabama to John Henry Caldwell, March 11, 1876 requesting assistance with a claim. Foster was seriously wounded as Colonel of the mounted infantry during the Seminole Indian War of 1836, served as Quartermaster General for the state of Georgia during the American Civil War, and was imprisoned in 1865 by the Union Army but later released. Letter references Gen. John B. [Brown] Gordon, Brig. General Charles H. Nelson, President Andrew Johnson, and Secretary of State William H.
