Data sets for: Weigl, K., & Forstner, T. (2020). Design of Paper-Based Visual Analogue Scale Items. Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1-17. https://doi.org/10.1177/0013164420952118.Paper-based visual analogue scales (VAS) items were developed 100 years ago. Although they gained great popularity in clinical and medical research for assessing pain, they have been scarcely applied in other areas of psychological research for several decades. However, since the beginning of digitization, VAS have attracted growing interest among researchers for carrying out computerized and paper-based data assessments. In the present study, we investigated the research question which different design characteristics of paper-based VAS items are preferred by women and men. Based on a sample of 115 participants (68 female), our results revealed that the respondents preferred a paper-based VAS item with a horizontal, 8 cm long, 3 DTP („data point“) wide, black line, with flat line endpoints, and the ascending numerical anchors “0” and “10”, both for women and men. Although we did not identify any gender difference in these characteristics, our findings uncovered clear preferences on how to design paper-based VAS items.unknow

Ear Recognition Based on Forstner and SIFT

    No full text
Extraction and expression of features are critical to improving the recognition rate of ear image recognition. This paper proposes a new ear recognition method based on SIFT (Scale-invariant feature transform) and Forstner corner detection technology. Firstly, Forstner corner points and SIFT keypoints are detected respectively. Then taking Forstner corner into the SIFT algorithm to calculate their descriptor as the image feature vectors. Finally ear recognition based on these feature is carried out with Euclidean distance as similarity measurement. A bi-directional matching algorithm is utilized for improving recognition rate. Experiments on USTB database show that the recognition rate reaches more 94%. The Experimental results prove the effectiveness of the proposed method in term of recognition accuracy in comparison with previous methods. It is robust to rigid changes of ear image and provides a new approach to the research for ear recognition. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.276

Diplomsko delo predstavlja problem prezračevanja in klimatizacije v proizvodni hali, v kateri je zaradi pridobitve novih obdelovalnih centrov sistem prezračevanja potreben posodobitve. V prvem delu predstavimo pomembne parametre in sestavne dele centralnega sistema, nato se lotimo preračuna toplotnih dobitkov zaradi transmisije in sevanja ter notranjih toplotnih dobitkov zaradi obratovanja strojev in emisije toplote delavcev v prostoru. Preračun hladilne obremenitve in izbira klimata z adiabatnim hlapilnim hlajenjem kažeta, da ob izbiri notranjih pogojev 26 °C in 62 % RV razvlaževanje ni potrebno. V tem primeru za hlajenje potrebujemo 39,39 kW hladilne moči. Zaradi rekuperatorja in adiabatnega hlajenja potrebujemo za prezračevanje in hlajenje le 15 kW električne moči.The diploma represents a problem of ventilation and air conditioning of an expanding machining and production hall. In the first part we discuss important parameters and components of a central ventilation and air conditioning system, then we tackle heat gain calculations based on heat transmission, solar gain and internal heat gains caused by operating machinery and heat emission from workers. Heating load calculation and our choice of using an adiabatic evaporative cooling air handling unit, show us that with internal design conditions of 26 °C and 62 % RH, dehumidification is not necessary. In this instance we need 39,39 kW of cooling capacity. Because of our use of a heat exchanger and adiabatic evaporative cooling, we need 15 kW of electricity for cooling and ventilation combined

A good economy is of fundamental importance for every country, only so can a country develop and offer good living conditions. By reviewing the economic activity within the Mežiška valley during World War II, we learned that the Germans were economically active in this area even before the occupation in 1941. They had employees in high positions within the most important companies, i.e., the Steel factory in Ravne and the lead and zinc mine in Mežica. The German state emphasized the development of the war industry and invested the most capital in it while at the same time exploiting all available natural resources and labor, including in the form of forced labor

Problematic Approach to the Analysis of Žiga X. Gombač\u27s Youth Novel NK Svoboda

Izvedeni sta bili 2 šolski uri, posvečeni branju odlomka, 1 šolska ura tradicionalne oblike in 1 šolska ura problemskega pouka. Obravnavali smo mladinski problemski roman Žige X. Gombača z naslovom NK Svoboda. V raziskavo smo vključili spoznanja o tem, kako uspešni so bili učenci in učenke predvsem v nalogah vrednotenja, ki so ponavadi pokazatelj doseganja višjih taksonomskih stopenj znanja. Master thesis Problematic Approach to the Analysis of Žiga X. Gombač\u27s Youth Novel NK Svoboda presents the findings of comparing problem-based learning with traditional teaching regarding the analysis of a youth problem novel. We will analyse the response and participation of students in both methods of teaching and attempt to show that problem-based classes are more useful to deal with such topics since students participate more actively in such classes. In the theoretical part of the master thesis, we will use a descriptive method, which will summarize the already known theoretical knowledge about problem-based learning, youth problem novel, youth literature in general and its reception. Furthermore, we will focus on school interpretation as a method of instruction that will later be used in the implementation of the traditional lecture. In the practical part, we will present the analysis of the lessons learned in the selected elementary school. There were 2 school hours assigned for reading the passage, 1 school lesson for learning about the traditional form, and 1 school lesson for problem-based learning. We will be discussing Žiga X. Gombač\u27s youth problem novel NK Svoboda. The study will include insights into the success of the students in evaluation tasks, which are usually indicators of achieving higher taxonomic levels of knowledge. The main aim of the master thesis is, therefore, to show the success of problem-based lessons, especially when discussing a youth problem-based novel, which, we believe, requires a great deal of discussion and exchange of views. We strive to see a comparison between traditional teaching and problem-based learning. At the heart of the comparison, we want to show that the problematic approach to the analysis is more appropriate to deal with problematic topics
