Software-defined radio receiver design and development for China Digital Radio (CDR)

    No full text
Chinese digital audio broadcasting in FM band (commonly referred to as CDR) is a newly released digital audio broadcasting standard (GY/T 268-2013) which operates in the FM-band (87MHz to 108MHz) in China. This report introduces for the first time in English of this standard based on an official version written in Chinese, including multiplexing, frame structure, channel coding and modulation schemes, etc. In the report, a CDR receiver simulation chain is designed and tested. To be specific, several problems of the CDR receiver are investigated and analyzed including local oscillator offset, Doppler shift and time-variation. Solutions for every problem are explored and implemented in Matlab selectively. Together with the multipath channel modeling and the defined transmitter model implementation in Matlab, the complete FM-band digital audio broadcasting chain is simulated and tested. The proposed solution of the CDR receiver indicates the applicability of the FM-band digital audio broadcasting standard. It is a preliminary research on CDR standard and may be improved in the future.Circuit and systemTelecommunicationsElectrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Scienc

Deeper SSC estimator used as CDR

    No full text
A deeper SSC estimator used as a CDR with a low power mechanism based on third-order architecture is proposed to suppress the disadvantage of the conventional third-order CDR happening at the switching points of SSC (spread spectrum clocking). For 10 Gbit/s data speed, the depth of its SSC tracking may be up to 10000ppm at 30 kHz which helps to reduce more EMI.http://gateway.webofknowledge.com/gateway/Gateway.cgi?GWVersion=2&SrcApp=PARTNER_APP&SrcAuth=LinksAMR&KeyUT=WOS:000321715800008&DestLinkType=FullRecord&DestApp=ALL_WOS&UsrCustomerID=8e1609b174ce4e31116a60747a720701Engineering, Electrical & ElectronicSCI(E)EI0ARTICLE11691-U1244

Hydrological evaluation of PERSIANN-CDR rainfall over upper Senegal River and Bani River Basins

    No full text
This study highlights the advantage of satellite-derived rainfall products for hydrological modeling in regions of insufficient ground observations such as West African basins. Rainfall is the main input for hydrological models; however, gauge data are scarce or difficult to obtain. Fortunately, several precipitation products are available. In this study, Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information using Artificial Neural Networks-Climate Data Record (PERSIANN-CDR) was analyzed. Daily discharges of three rivers of the Upper Senegal basin and one of the Upper Niger basin, as well as water levels of Manantali reservoir were simulated using PERSIANN-CDR as input to the CEQUEAU model. First, CEQUEAU was calibrated and validated using raw PERSIANN-CDR, and second, rainfalls were bias-corrected and the model was recalibrated. In both cases, ERA-Interim temperatures were used. Model performance was evaluated using Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE), mean percent bias (MPBIAS), and coefficient of determination (R 2 ). With raw PERSIANN-CDR, most years show good performance with values of NSE > 0.8, R 2 > 0.90, and MPBIAS < 10%. However, bias-corrected PERSIANN-CDR did not improve the simulations. The findings of this study can be used to improve the design of dam projects such as the ongoing dam constructions on the three rivers of the Upper Senegal Basin. This sideways book may be the most saccharine thing I have. Fairies are all over making little flowers so that boys and girls can be good. Yecch! One of a series of authentic flower books. What is an inauthentic flower book? Modern parents know that this entertaining approach to educational information for children is highly effective. So says the flyleaf. Some of the most see-through-able propaganda I have seen, even if it is in a good cause. This is a hardbound book (hard cover)This book has a dust jacket (book cover)Zillah White

Is sea-basing a viable method of providing logistic support to the UK amphibious force?

    No full text
Maritime power has traditionally been a central part of the UK’s defence planning and is well suited to supporting a wide range of military operations. The littoral area has always created problems for naval planners as most landings historically have had to endure a tactical separation of the naval and land components, and hence an artificial seam between the Navy and the Marines. With the end of the Cold War, amphibious operations are going to be more difficult to conduct than in the past, and amphibious forces are going to have to adopt manoeuvre warfare capabilities in order to successfully complete their missions. It is very likely that amphibious forces will have to conduct operations against a numerically superior enemy, who is on his own terrain, and be surrounded by a neutral, if not hostile populace. As such, the concept of Operational Manoeuvre From The Sea (OMFTS) whereby the sea is used as a manoeuvre space, and command and control is fast enough to cope with large amounts of information, but at the same time allow subordinates maximum flexibility to use their initiative, is increasingly attractive. It will be important not only for the combat elements to be able to use this new concept, but the Combat Service Support (CSS) elements as well

MMCL-CDR: Enhancing Cancer Drug Response Prediction with Multi-Omics and Morphology Images Contrastive Representation Learning

    No full text
Motivation Cancer is a complex disease that results in a significant number of global fatalities. Treatment strategies can vary among patients, even if they have the same type of cancer. The application of precision medicine in cancer shows promise for treating different types of cancer, reducing healthcare expenses, and improving recovery rates. To achieve personalized cancer treatment, machine learning models have been developed to predict drug responses based on tumor and drug characteristics. However, current studies either focus on constructing homogeneous networks from single data source or heterogeneous networks from multi-omics data. While multi-omics data have shown potential in predicting drug responses in cancer cell lines, there is still a lack of research that effectively utilizes insights from different modalities. Furthermore, effectively utilizing the multi-modal knowledge of cancer cell lines poses a challenge due to the heterogeneity inherent in these modalities. Results To address these challenges, we introduce MMCL-CDR, a multi-modal approach for cancer drug response prediction that integrates copy number variation, gene expression, morphology images of cell lines and chemical structure of drugs. The objective of MMCL-CDR is to align cancer cell lines across different data modalities by learning cell line representations from omic and image data, and combined with structural drug representations to enhance the prediction of Cancer Drug Responses (CDR). We have carried out comprehensive experiments and show that our model significantly outperforms other state-of-the-art methods in CDR prediction. The experimental results also prove that the model can learn more accurate cell line representation by integrating multi-omics and morphological data from cell lines, thereby improving the accuracy of CDR prediction. In addition, the ablation study and qualitative analysis also confirm the effectiveness of each part of our proposed model. Last but not least, MMCL-CDR opens up a new dimension for cancer drug response prediction through multimodal contrastive learning, pioneering a novel approach that integrates multi-omics and multi-modal drug and cell line modeling. I include this book in the collection only because of the title. These are nine tales that the flowers told to the elves. In the first, Violet goes from the Queen of the Fairies, who are the protectors of flowers, to win over the Frost-King by the power of love. In the second Eva visits Fairyland to see a hospital for wounded insects, a fairy school, and flower heaven. Two stories was all that I could take. This is a hardbound book (hard cover)Louisa May Alcot

    Crow and Pitcher Flower-Pot-Hanger

Now here is something of whose existence I was simply unaware! A slightly torn slip pasted to the wall side describes this, apparently, as "Crow & Pitcher Flower Vasette for Decorative Hanging Plants & Cut Flowers and Artificial Flowers. Copyright 1939 by Liberty Giftcrafters." There is then a picture of the crow and pitcher above the "Legend of the Crow & Pitcher from Aesop's Fables." The text used here does not come from any version I recognize. Maine Emporium describes it as vintage folk art.Crow and Pitcher Flower-Pot-Hanger. Wooden, four pieces, painted crème and black. 12" x 10½" x 3". Liberty, Maine: Liberty Giftcrafters. $25 from The Maine Emporium, Bowdoinham, ME, through Ebay, Feb., '00

    Flower Fables

This book expands the flowers section of my collection, parts of which can be found in 1910?, 1946, and 1982. Here are twenty-eight pleasing aetiological tales about flowers, as the flyleaf says, plucked from classical mythology, Eastern legends, religion and Charles Gary's own imagination. Each story is followed by the official Latin name for the flower. The most unusual include Fivespot, Rose (which gives the original meaning for sub rosa), Rosinweed (which is set in Bellevue, NE, and features Peter Sarpy), and the touching Peony. The flyleaf promises twelve colored illustrations, but I find only eleven! There are also twenty pen-and-ink sketches, similarly simple. There are no fables in the strict sense here. This is a hardbound book (hard cover)This book has a dust jacket (book cover)Charles L. Gar
