Also included are some personal documents, such as education records and ID papers.Born in Grodno, Russia, on November 8, 1878, Feiga Lifschitz studied philosophy in Berlin and Zurich, and worked as a translator and author. She married Efraim Frisch in 1903, assisted him in his publishing enterprises, including the editing of Der neue Merkur. She emigrated to Switzerland in 1933 and died in Ascona, Switzerland, on May 30, 1964.digitize

    Magnetostrictive GMR spin valves with composite FeGa/FeCo free layers

    We have fabricated strain-sensitive spin valves on flexible substrates by utilizing the large magnetostrictive FeGa alloy to promote the strain sensitivity and the composite free layer of FeGa/FeCo to avoid the drastic reduction of giant magnetoresistance (GMR) ratio. This kind of spin valve (SV-FeGa/FeCo) displays a MR ratio about 5.9%, which is comparable to that of the conventional spin valve (SV-FeCo) with a single FeCo free layer. Different from the previously reported works on magnetostrictive spin valves, the SV-FeGa/FeCo displays an asymmetric strain dependent GMR behavior. Upon increasing the lateral strain, the MR ratio for the ascending branch decreases more quickly than that for the descending branch, which is ascribed to the formation of a spiraling spin structure around the FeGa/FeCo interface under the combined influences of both magnetic field and mechanical strain. A strain sensitivity of GF = 7.2 was achieved at a magnetic bias field of -30 Oe in flexible SV-FeGa/FeCo, which is significantly larger than that of SV-FeCo. (C) 2016 Author(s)

    High magnetic sensitivity at the coercive field induced by shear horizontal SAW in polycrystalline FeGa films

RYC2021-031166-IA Love wave device is designed to generate surface acoustic waves (SAWs) with strong shear-horizontal polarization, interacting with a polycrystalline Fe72Ga28 magnetostrictive layer. The shear strain induced by these waves at a frequency of approximate to 160 MHz, coupled with magnetoelastic effects, leads to domain magnetization oscillation, resulting in unique responses that are particularly pronounced near the coercive field. Experimental results reveal that the response of the sensor is highly sensitive to the angle between the applied magnetic field and the wave propagation direction, with profiles that can vary significantly depending on this angle, with some configurations resulting in practically opposite responses. A particularly relevant case arises when the magnetic field is aligned with the Love wave propagation direction. In this case, the sensor response shows mainly a monotonic increase with the magnetic field, except near the coercive field, where a sharp peak emerges and then abruptly collapses, resulting in a magnetic sensitivity of approximate to 5 Hz/nT (0.031 ppm nT-1). This high sensitivity near the coercive field opens the door to the development of high-performance sensors, simplifying electronics while leveraging the key advantages of SAW technology, including low power consumption, compact size, real-time response, and portability.     Diction and the influence of postcolonial physical space in Qazee's The Chosen One

    This article aims to identify the diction (word choice) of fictional and scientific terms created by the author in the science fiction novel The Chosen One. This novel constitutes one of the seven novels (Heptalogy of the Gamers of Galaxians) composed in serial form. The writer can create new words (neology) in the science fiction genre. According to Dejika's theory, language can keep developing through creating works in the science fiction genre. Based on the diction used by the author, the depiction of the spatial aspect of the colonial discourses can be observed. The method used in this study is the descriptive-analytic method. The result of this study shows the findings of word choice commonly used in various fields of science, such as biology, chemistry, physics, and anthropology. The author fails to build science fiction discourse because no new concepts are created in his novel. The discourse of Western Ideology remains to be present without any significant resistance. This happens because the author prioritizes Western discourse as a solution, namely the discourse represented through the past established in high sophistication

    Penyampaian moral dalam karya sastra oleh pengarang dapat dilakukan melalui aktivitas tokoh ataupun penutur langsung pengarang. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data ini dilakukan yaitu menggunakan teknik membaca dan mencatat. Instrumen yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini yaitu berupa kartu data dan alat tulis. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Gadis Pantai karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer dan Bekisar Merah karya Ahmad Tohari. Objek dalam penelitian ini yaitu nilai moral serta relevansinya dengan bahan ajar sastra di SMA. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa nilai moral adalah: 1) Hubungan Manusia dengan Tuhannya; 2) Hubungan Manusia dengan Dirinya Sendiri; 3) Hubungan Manusia dengan Manusia Lain dalam Lingkup Sosial. Perbandingan nilai moral dari kedua novel tersebut yaitu terdapat pada kutipan hubungan manusia dengan tuhan dan hubungan manusia dengan manusia lain dalam lingkup sosial

    Handling Health Data FAIR Research Objects for Trusted Research Environments

    Trusted Research Environments (TREs) are secure locations in which data are placed for researchers to analyse. TREs can be set up to host administrative data, hospital data or any other data that needs to remain securely isolated. It is hard for a researcher to perform an analysis across multiple TREs, requesting and gathering the data needed from each one. Federated analysis widens the scope of research and makes more effective use of data, but that data needs to be analysed across geographical or governance boundaries, for example in devolved healthcare in the UK and across national borders in Europe. A federated infrastructure makes it much easier for analysis tools to access multiple TREs. Health Data Research UK (https://www.hdruk.ac.uk/) through its DARE UK programme (https://dareuk.org.uk/) is developing a blueprint for TRE federation [1] and tools for federated data discovery. ELIXIR, the European Research Infrastructure for Life Science Data (https://elixireurope.org/), has developed Federated European Genome-Phenome Archive (FEGA) [2] and services for FAIR data management and computational workflows using GA4GH standards [3]. There are different ways of implementing the well-established TREs, and many popular analysis tools already in widespread use, so solutions need to be readily adoptable by existing systems. Moreover, the infrastructure needs to work within the “Five Safes” framework [4] that aims to protect data and enable data services to provide safe research access to data. The “Five Safes RO-Crate” [5] is a new way of packaging up the digital objects needed for research requests and results with the information needed for the tools and TRE providers to ensure that the Crates are reviewed and processed according to Five Safes principles. RO-Crate [6] is a community effort to establish a lightweight, native approach to packaging research data with their metadata (https://www.researchobject.org/rocrate/). Sponsored by ELIXIR and others, it has become a widely adopted framework for inter-service exchange, resource archiving, and reproducible reporting, used by digital research infrastructures and their services, including ELIXIR, the European Open Science Cloud, and the Australian BioCommons. It is an implementation of the FDO Forum’s FAIR Digital Objects (https://fairdo.org/). The TRE-FX project (https://trefx.uk/) has piloted FAIR Five Safes RO-Crates and answering data queries within HDR UK TREs using pre-approved workflows using ELIXIR’s workflow execution technologies. Partnering with TREs from Scotland, Wales and England and analysis toolkits (DataSHIELD, BitFount), TRE-FX streamlines the exchange of requests and results between analysis clients and TREs while ensuring that the access is safe and the process transparent. TELEPORT (https://dareuk.org.uk/driver-project-teleport/), a sister DARE UK project, follows a complementary federation strategy of ethereal “pop-up” TREs for requests that are only feasible over combined TREs. The combination of TRE-FX and TELEPORT is a powerful hybrid capable of addressing practical federated analysis patterns working within current data governance processes. From March 2024 HDR-UK and ELIXIR will combine forces in the Horizon Europe EOSC-ENTRUST project which aims to create a European network of Trusted Research Environments for sensitive data and to drive European interoperability by joint development of a common blueprint for federated data access and analysis.     Growth, Structural And Physical Properties Of Certain Antimony Based III-V Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors

    Semiconductor devices are the building blocks of electronics and communication technology in the modern world. The charge, mass and spin of charge carriers in the semiconductor devices lay the foundations of the technology developments in the modern age. But to date only the electronic charge of the semiconductors has been exploited for such applications. The significance of the spin of charge carriers is completely ignored because in a semiconductor the half of the carriers are in spin-up state and the remainder are in spin-down state. A new electronics termed as spintronics, spin-transport based electronics, is focused to utilise the spin degree of freedom of the charge carriers in addition to its electronic charge. The devices based on these have the potential for various technological advancements like non-volatility, increased data processing speed, decreased electronic power consumption and increased integration densities as compared to the conventional semiconductor devices. In this study, the author intended to study the growth and properties of magnetic impurity doped antimony based III-V compounds and compare these results with those of the films grown by MBE. This thesis is organised into seven chapters. The first introductory chapter gives a brief review of the work on spintronics, diluted magnetic semiconductors, Ferromagnetic / paramagnetic semiconductor hybrid structures with special emphasis on the properties of antimonides which have already been reported in the literature. This is followed by the scope of the thesis. The second chapter deals with technical details of various instruments used in the present research work. Third chapter describes the growth and structural properties of bulk crystals grown by Bridgman method and thin films grown by liquid phase epitaxy (LPE). Bulk crystals of InSb and GaSb doped with magnetic elements such as Mn and Fe are grown with different doping concentrations. Thin films of InSb and GaSb doped Mn with different doping concentrations are grown by LPE. The grown crystals are processed by slicing, lapping, polishing and chemical etching methods. X-ray diffraction studies are carried out to confirm alloy formation and to find the change in lattice parameter if any. From the powder diffraction patterns, the lattice parameter is refined with the help of Retvield refinement program. A systematic change of lattice parameter with the incorporation of magnetic impurities into InSb and GaSb is observed. Scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive x-ray analysis are carried out to identify the secondary phases and their composition respectively. Chapter 4 gives the detailed magnetotransport studies carried out on InSb and GaSb crystals doped with Mn and Fe. Also, the magnetotransport studies carried out on thin films grown by liquid phase epitaxy are presented here. This chapter is divided into three sections of which the first section deals with Mn doped bulk crystals of InSb and GaSb, the second section deals with Fe doped bulk crystals of InSb and GaSb and the third section deals with Mn doped InSb and GaSb films grown on GaAs by Liquid Phase Epitaxy. Temperature dependence of zero field resistivity, magnetoresistance and Hall measurements are carried out from 1.4 to 300K. All the samples show p type conduction throughout the temperature range studied except for Fe doped InSb. Mn doped crystals show negative magnetoresistance and anomalous Hall effect below 10K. Anisotropy in magnetoresistance is also observed at low temperatures in InMnSb crystals. On the other hand, Fe doped samples exhibit positive magnetoresistance throughout the temperature range and no anomalous Hall effect is observed. Chapter 5 describes the magnetic properties of bulk InMnSb, GaMnSb, InFeSb and GaFeSb crystals so also the thin films of InMnSb/GaAs. DC magnetization measurements are carried out in the temperature range 2 - 300K. The Mn doped InSb and GaSb crystals as well as InMnSb/GaAs films, show a magnetic ordering below 10K which could arise from the InMnSb and GaMnSb alloy formation. Also, saturation in magnetization observed even at room temperature suggests the existence of ferromagnetic MnSb clusters in the crystals which has been verified by scanning electron microscopy studies. In Fe doped InSb crystals, the temperature dependent DC magnetization shows irreversibility under field cooled and zero field cooled conditions below 12K, suggesting a spin glass-like behaviour. Also, magnetization measurement shows the coexistence of ferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases throughout the temperature range studied. Existence of ferromagnetic phase could arise from secondary phases Fe1-xInx or FeSb2 present in the crystal as clusters and paramagnetic phase could arise from the randomly distributed Fe atoms in the InSb matrix. Fe doped GaSb crystals show interesting magnetic property that arises from the FeGa alloy (secondary phase) present in it. The EPR studies on Ga0.98Mn0.02Sb cluster-free (?) crystal suggest that the dominant Mn impurity in GaMnSb is Mn2+ (d5), described as ionized acceptor A−. This conclusion was derived from EPR experiments, which reveal a strong absorption line with an effective g factor very close to 2.00, the value typical for centre A−. The absence of EPR signal typical for neutral Mn acceptor A0 suggests that this center is absent in the crystal under investigation. The observed behavior is similar to that of Ga1-xMnxAs and In1-xMnxAs epilayers. EPR studies also reveal that the competition between antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic phases exists in the studied crystal. Chapter 6 describes the optical measurements carried out on bulk Ga1-xMnxSb crystals and their films with different Mn doping concentrations. FTIR studies are carried out in the temperature range 4 - 300 K. From the FTIR studies, it is found that intra valance spin – orbit splitting band absorption is dominant compared to the fundamental absorption in doped crystals. In higher doped crystals (x > 0.01), fundamental band absorption merges with split-off band and could not be resolved. Free carrier absorption studies are also carried out in the energy range below the band gap. FTIR studies on GaMnSb/GaAs films suggest band gap narrowing effect due to Mn doping. Furthermore the Photoluminescence measurements are carried out in the temperature range 10 – 300 K for all the Mn doped GaSb crystals. PL studies also support the band gap narrowing and band filling effects. A comprehensive summary of this research investigation and scope for the further work are presented in the last chapter
