CT Teaching Files
No full textCTisus is a project of the Advanced Medical Imaging Laboratory, and on this site they present their teaching files. The files are divided by organ or body systems (such as Stomach and Neuro), and each division contains from one to forty-two individual files. Each file contains 100 cases, which allow students to see CT scans, courtesy of Dr. Elliot K. Fishman, and diagnose the illness based on what the scan reveals. By clicking the âDiagnosisâ on/off buttons, they can see the correct diagnosis. This site will be helpful for students in the fields of diagnostic radiographic imaging or radiology to have an understanding of what diseases look like in CT scans, and for teachers who instruct those students to supplement their classroom lectures and activities with these ready-to-use teaching files
Bikeshare: Barriers, facilitators and impacts on car use

The degree to which bikeshare impacts on car use was also quantified. The findings of this program of research have implications for existing as well as planned bikeshare programs, both in Australia and abroad

No full textThis letter was sent from William E. Hoy to Mr. Ralph Elliot Lin Weber and is dated July 8, 1943. The letter recounts information about the only baseball game where Hoy, a deaf athlete, was at-bat against Taylor, also a deaf athlete. Mentioned in the letter is a typewritten play by play of the same game, copied from the Enquirer of May 17, 1902. Also included is an envelope and newspaper articles. The envelope, from International League Information, is addressed to Ralph E Lin Weber and has handwritten lists of players of N.Y. and Cincinnati. The newspaper articles are from the Dayton Daily News and the Cincinnati Enquirer and feature pictures of William E. Hoy, the author of the letter

No full text... Elliot Merrick, Labrador author and traveler, died on 22 April 1997, less than three weeks before his 92nd birthday. Toward the end of his life, he would joke that he was so old that he\u27d become "historical". In fact, he was one of the last surviving links with pioneer Labrador - a place that makes the present-day Labrador of jet overflights and nickel mines seem like another country. ... Elliot Merrick made no contribution to science; his trips did not result in new maps being drawn up, and he did not make any major or even minor archaeological finds. But his books about Labrador will live on to enthral future generations of readers with the magic of the North
Pancreaticoduodenectomy with venous resection and reconstruction: current surgical techniques and associated postoperative imaging findings
No full textPurpose: Introduction of effective neoadjuvant therapy for pancreas cancer has resulted in complex and aggressive operations involving vasculature resection. This results in complicated postoperative CT appearance of vasculature, which in addition to high rate of recurrence makes interpretation of imaging difficult. The aim of this study was to identify patterns of postoperative appearance of portal vein-superior mesenteric vein complex (PV-SMV). Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy with PV-SMV resection and reconstruction (PVR) between 2004 and 2014. Clinicopathological data were collected from a prospectively maintained database. Postoperative CT scans were reviewed to identify patterns of venous and perivenous features. Results: The mean age, of 70 patients included in the study, was 63.0 ± 12.2 years and 37 (52.9%) were males. The median time between surgery and postoperative scan was 10 days (IQR 7–25). Tangential resection with PVR via primary closure or use of a patch was performed in 37 (52.9%) patients while the rest underwent segmental resection with PVR via end-to-end anastomosis or use of a graft. Postoperative patterns of PV-SMV included concentric narrowing (N = 40, 57.1%), eccentric narrowing (N = 19, 27.1%) or partial venous thrombosis (N = 7, 10.0%). Perivenous features included perivenous fluid collection and induration (N = 57, 81.4%) and mass-like soft tissue thickening (N = 13, 18.6%). Long-term follow-up was available on 44 (62.9%) patients of which 28 (63.6%) demonstrated no recurrence of disease. Conclusion: This is a novel study that identifies and categorizes postoperative features of PV-SMV after PVR. These features overlap with those of disease recurrence and their better understanding can results in an accurate interpretation of postoperative imaging
