    No full text
Despite the expectations generated by their diffusion, web 2.0 services and appli- cations are hardly used by made in Italy firms. According to the authors this distance is due to the nature of communication on the web, an intermediate space with peculiar logics. The analysis of multiple case studies suggests that the exploration of these in- termediate spaces is possible within organizational contexts characterized by four ele- ments: a strong entrepreneurial orientation; the ability to develop complex discourses on themes which are crucial for relevant consumer communities; generational change; the stimulus coming from creative professional figures.

Automatic Color Inspection for Colored Wires in Electric Cables

    No full text
In this paper, an automatic optical inspection system for checking the sequence of colored wires in electric cable is presented. The system is able to inspect cables with flat connectors differing in the type and number of wires. This variability is managed in an automatic way by means of a self-learning subsystem and does not require manual input from the operator or loading new data to the machine. The system is coupled to a connector crimping machine and once the model of a correct cable is learned, it can automatically inspect each cable assembled by the machine. The main contributions of this paper are: (i) the self-learning system; (ii) a robust segmentation algorithm for extracting wires from images even if they are strongly bent and partially overlapped; (iii) a color recognition algorithm able to cope with highlights and different finishing of the wire insulation. We report the system evaluation over a period of several months during the actual production of large batches of different cables; tests demonstrated a high level of accuracy and the absence of false negatives, which is a key point in order to guarantee defect-free productions

    No full text

Self-learning visual inspection system for cable crimping machines

This paper presents a system for checking connectors while cables are being crimped to them. The system verifies that the wires color sequence is correct: an accurate color analysis technique has then been developed, in order to discriminate between similar colors, and filter noise factors

Small angle scattering of Ag-1 wt.% Mg alloys internally oxidized at high temperatures: a model of interacting spherical clusters

Strong interference effects in the X-ray small angle scattering (SAXS) intensity vs. scattering-angle plot are shown to appear in foil specimens of a relatively concentrated Ag-Mg alloy (1 wt.% Mg corresponding to 4.3 at.% Mg) treated in air under two very different high temperature conditions. Such interference effects are ascribed to MgOv clusters formed during an internal oxidation process and are quantitatively evaluated applying a special theoretical approach based on a model of interacting spherical particles. It is found that, in the sample oxidised at 1023 K for 2 min, particles with a surface-weighted average diameter of 1.4 nm are present and occupy 5.4% of the sample volume. In the sample oxidised at 1123 K for 6 h, the particles are larger (3.3 nm) and represent a 3.8% volume fraction. The clusters formed at lower temperatures for a few minutes are much richer in oxygen (v=1.6) than those formed at higher temperatures for some hours, which are composed of stoichiometric (v=1) magnesium oxide
