Novos territórios no final do século XIX. Augusto Ballerini no Museu de La Plata
This work studies one of the works created by the artist Augusto Ballerini for the Museo de La Plata: the mural Selva misionera. It begins with a brief biography of the author and goes on to analyze and interpret his painting. Ballerini (1857-1902) was a multifaceted artist who worked as a teacher, illustrator, decorator, manager and visual artist. He executed several commissions in La Plata city for different government agencies, and he painted three large murals in the Museo de La Plata: Salvajes provocando fuego (1887), Vista de los Andes (1887) –both in the rotunda at the entrance to the Museum– and Selva misionera (n.d.), on the upper floor of this rotunda. Only the last of these murals is preserved today. Like many artists at a time when the matter of landscape was in full debate, and with the explicit intention of capturing different geographies of the country, Ballerini traveled through Patagonia, the Northwest, Mesopotamia, the Gran Chaco and the mountain regions in pursuit of the inclusion of national art within the iconography of the emerging Nation. New clinical application of indocyanine green in fluorescence-guided laparoscopic lymph-node biopsy in case of lymphoma. Preliminary results on a case series
Background - Indocyanine Green (ICG) fluorescence-guided surgery is widely used for intraoperative visualization of lymphatic structures. To date, there are no reports indicating this dye being used in lymph node biopsies for suspected or relapsed lymphoma.
Methods - Between October 2021 and June 2022, 12 patients underwent a fluorescence-guided laparoscopic lymph node biopsy (FGLLB) using ICG. The following was retrospectively evaluated: the dosage of ICG, the injection site, the number of patients where fluorescence was obtained after ICG administration, and additionally, the parameters indicating the outcome of the surgical procedure.
Results - The median duration of the surgery was 90 min. A laparotomy conversion was required in one case due to bleeding. Fluorescence was obtained in 10/12 (83.3%) patients by means of subcutaneous/perilesional injection in six of the patients, and intravenously in the other four. Hospitalization had a mean duration of three days. There were no major postoperative complications. FGLLB was used in seven patients to follow lymphoproliferative disease progression, and in five patients to establish a diagnosis. In all cases, FGLLB provided the information necessary for the correct diagnosis.
Conclusions - Fluorescence with ICG offers a simple and safe method for detecting pathological lymph nodes. FGLLB in suspected intra-abdominal lymphoma can largely benefit from this new opportunity which has not yet been tested to date. Further studies with large case series are needed to confirm its efficacy

Large Forgings: Microstructural Evolution and Residual Stresses Due to Quenching Treatments—A Combined Numerical and Experimental Approach
Based on numerical and experimental data, an FEM model was implemented to simulate quench treatments on large forging components. After experimental validation of convection coefficient laws between water and component surface, time–temperature curves were determined for a large forged piece for different corss section of the component itself. Then superimposing these curves to the continuous cooling transformation diagram for the material, it was possible to identify the microstructural constituents of the steel after quenching. The component residual stress field was obtained by implementing the volumetric expansion law due to the phase transition during cooling. The ability to simulate the heat treatment of heavy size parts must be considered very useful due to quickly managing of all variables that govern the problem (initial and final temperatures, holding times, quenching mode, size, and geometry of components) and the possibility to predict final characteristics of the workpiece
Gymnocoronis spilanthoides (Asteraceae, Eupatorieae), a new naturalized and potentially invasive aquatic alien in S Europe
Gymnocoronis spilanthoides, a naturalized South American neophyte introduced as an aquarium and aquatic ornamental plant, is recorded for the first time from southern Europe. Two populations were found in irrigation canals and in a rice field in northern Italy. Distribution, invasion status, ecology, and pathways of introduction of the species are presented. Additionally, the modes of dispersal, never investigated before in the European continent, are discussed and the potential invasive behaviour and impacts in the new growing sites are assessed
